  1. He was a solid player and probably one of Theo's best big money signings. Which in itself isn't saying much. I never had an issue with him. Some people didn't like his laid back temperment. It didn't bother me. He was a solid RF and if the deal had to be made again I would fine with it. He had 2 good seasons, 2 ok seasons and one lost one. On a 5 year deal most teams would consider that a win.
  2. They are still in the mix for Manny as he will be the DH and not playing in the OF.
  3. Oswalt's health concerns are real. A pitcher of his caliber and pedigree is not still hanging around mid February for no reason. Especially if he's looking for a one year deal and not a mulit year deal like at the beginning of the off season. There IS a reason no one has signed him. The only other explanation is he only wants to play for 2 teams. I'm at the point where it's too shady for me and would rather the Sox not take the risk, go with what they have, see who steps up and/or see who's available later on in the season. But that's just me.
  4. He probably didn't want to go to AAA. Unfortunately he failed to realize playing in Oaklnad is practically the same thing
  5. Wow, that came out of nowhere. He knows it's Billy Beane no Brad Pitt right? I can see it now, walks into ST, "Where is Angelina?" doh! "What about the funny fat guy?" Looks like he wants to be the big name cause from what I have managed to read(not much) it looks as if the Marlins deal was better. Maybe they have too many names and he is afraid they swagger jack him and his star won't shine through the rest of the names on the team?
  6. OMG they settled? Who would have thought it?
  7. I got RF Box seats section 8 row J for a Angels game in August and they where 125 a piece.
  8. Crawford has wrist issues already. That doesn't scream "rebound season" to me.
  9. The only thing I'm wondering is what size your tin foil hat is?
  10. Probably never see him at all, but it's an interesting story
  11. They offer weekly exams at the home a700 was put into when he started walking around with a Burger King crown shouting " I am the King, bring my ale wenches!":D
  12. I'm an optimistic person Jacko hahaha But in reality these are just fun predictions. I prefer the more positive type predictions instead of the gloom and doom Sox should just mail it in this season
  13. Thank you for that incredible insight. I wish someone else would have thought of that. Here you go, http://www.braves-nation.com/forums/forum.php
  14. Here are some of my predictions, Jacoby comes back down to earth a bit, still hits 20+ HR's Pedroia does his usual thing Agon puts up an MVP type season Youk plays 125 games hits .280 with a close to .400 OBP Crawford hits .250 and misses half the season, thus making it a better year then last year. Aviles shocks everyone hit's .300 and plays a good SS, Iggy comes up late in the season for defensive purposes. Sweeney+ his platoon partner TBA provide league avg. production Salty builds off his first full season and overall has a better offensive production. Lester puts up a CY Young type season Beckett is good not great Buchholz wins come back player of the year(if he is eligable ) Bard has a great first half and average 2nd half due to having to watch his IP One or more of the scrapheap pitchers combine to give the Sox 200 IP of 4.80 ERA ball. Sox trade for SP mid season. Bailey has a very good season, not as good as Paps great seasons, but enought to suffice most fans but not good enough to totally quiet the nay sayers. Red Sox BP is above league average, but not but leaps and bounds. Sox win 96 games for the WC beat the angels in the one game playoff as CJ wilson get's thumped and Bailey strikes out Pujols for the final out.
  15. I read there where like 15 teams in on him. Didn't they sign a young Aussie softball catcher last year or the year before?
  16. I'm concerned about the health of each and every player. But that doesn't mean I'm going to go all gloom and doom as far as this season goes. The SF Giants won a WS with a mediocore offense, 2 stud pitchers and a couple guys that played above their heads for crying out loud. This team has a better offense, 2-3 strong pitchers and a decent BP. I mean some people around here(not directed at only you) seem so convinced this team will suck that they might as well sign off and come back next November And no a700, I was not concerned you were missing a meal or sleep, I know the nursing homes have regular eating schedules and have a set bed time(I was gonna leave it at that, but I wanted to make sure you knew this last part is an absolulte poke in the ribs and just for fun ) C'mon start of the season, the winter madness is getting to everyone!
  17. Are you not concerned about Oswalt breaking down? He's a very good NL pitcher that has red flags when it comes to health. I honestly don't see why so many people view him as the savior of this staff. Would he be better then some of the guys they brought in so far? Yes, but it's not as though he would not come with his own set of concerns. Knowing you he goes out and pitches twice, hurts his back and is out for 2 months and then you'd be screaming at the the Sox medical staff for not knowing he was an injury risk when they signed him. I really think everyone needs to just relax, and cheer on the team thats on the field. Is it a juggernaut? Probably not? Are they the Royals? No. Let's just relax and see how things play out.
  18. What's the site you can go to and type in your tickets and see the view from your seats?
  19. A700, I only mentioned Dice-k to tex because you mentioned that even tho tex hasn't been great it was ok cause he helped bring a ws title to ny, as did dice-k.
  20. I don't know why I am bothering but, the spent like drunken sailors yes, but you were pining for them to do so, if they didn't you would have called them cheap and accused them of pocketing all the money you give up for them. 7/154 and 8/180 is a sizeable difference when talking about payroll and LT. And since when do you care about prospects compared to "proven" MLB players. I think you may be having an identity crisis I agree with Lackey, I never liked the deal and never will. Complain all you want about Dice-K, but as with tex, he hepled the team to a WS title. Just be consistent man. You want them to spend like drunk sailors, because when they don't you claim the owners are cheap and stealing your hard earned money. You got what you wanted in the end. And now that it hasn't worked out don't flip your script and try and kill the FO for making those deals you where begging for. I don't want this to end up as a grease fire, so I'm going to just agree to disagree with you as usual. But that doesn't mean I won't call you out when you change philosophies mid stream to make your argument better.
