  1. They had success with Bard and his control. Is it inconceivable they can have the same success with Carpenter? If they get him right he could be a huge power arm in the back of the BP. He isn't a spring chicken. But he is at the very edge of entering his prime. If the dude can throw 100 MPH he is worth the time and effort IMO. Does he have minor league options left?
  2. Ok he's not really a prospect at 26 but he still looks to be a decent arm.
  3. Solid pitching prospect and a ptbnl is pretty good IMO
  4. The Carpenter kid looks good from what I have read about him so far(not much to be honest). Dolis looks like he could be a good late inning BP arm.
  5. We need some SR about these pitchers. Please no Bleacher reports or anyone blogging from their mothers basement
  6. McNutt's name is being tossed around.I hope it is him and he's good and makes the team. There is comdeic gold in that name for sure.
  7. Ya it least the Sox seem to go about it a bit differently. That whole AJ Yanks deal was awful. They didn't hint or tip toe around it. It was just, AJ Burnett = piece of s***. It seemed to be different then when past starts left the team. He must have really stepped on some toes. The media is craxy these days anyways. The only way to stand out is to go out on a limb or make your comments so harsh or outrageous that they get noticed by everyone.
  8. The smear campaigns have been going on since I can remember, and that's long before this ownership group was at the healm. The common factor is the Boston media. Not saying the FO is 100% innocent. But it's been going on for awhile. You really have a hardon for this ownership group. Have they wronged you in some sort of way? Did them making the Red Sox a winning organization have some adverse effect on your personality? Where you so used to them losing it became part of you and now they have won and changed the culture and now that part of you has been taken away or something? It's like all you guys used to do is complain they didn't win. Then they won, and it seems to have caused some sort of identity chrisis for a certain group of fans. They won, and now it's like omg what do I complain about? That's all I have ever known! Not being able to complain about the team gave you nothing to be salty towards. You probably stemmed the flow by calling out "pink hats" and this sort of thing, but now that they have lost 2 years in a row, it's like you have rediscovered yourself and have gone back to where your most comfortable. Some of you act like this ownership group has run this franchise into the ground. Why not take a step back and go, thank f***ing Christ Mccourt didn't get the winning bid for this team. Or how about being thankful the Wilpon's aren't in charge. I just don't get why some get so upset with the owners. Are they perfect? No. Are they better then most? Yes. If you don't think so, go surf around some Royal, Pirates, O's, Guardians, Mariners, Athletic, Astro forums and ask if they would take Henry and Co. over what they have now. Some would probably offer their left testicle.
  9. He probably wants all MLB employee's to honor their contracts to the end. Other then that, I agree, i'm not sure why he wants it that way.
  10. The Boston media is infamous for lighting guys on fire as they head out of town. I don't know why the media does this. They are like a jealous lover who just got dumped. Instead of just thanking them for the good times and sending them on their way, but instead they decide to drag up any and all negative details from their tenure and then blast the guy on the way out. I really dislike it. Not just for the Red Sox, but when any media outlet does it. AJ was roughly a .500 W% 4.00 ERA SP when he came to town. He basically left the same. I guess they are torching him because the pinstripes didn't inhance his stat line while he was in town :dunno:
  11. I like it. Baseball is more interesting with Manny Good luck Manny, with all the crazy s*** you have pulled I think it is good you are coming back to show your kids a good example of even if you screw up, you own up to it and try to make things better. Moneyball 2 will be a comedy now
  12. Do you just not understand what he is saying? Sox farm system average now. Reason. Most Sox top prospects currently on Red Sox ML roster or traded for player currently producing at ML level. Good drafts last 2 years. Good young talent, only 19-20 years old. Sox system rate higher as young players develop. Separate all the emotion and butt-hurt in this thread and this concept is fairly easy to grasp. If you can not grasp this concept, you have an agenda. If you have one fine, just don't deny it. Jacko has an agenda, but he also doesn't deny it. Let's all try to be big boys and be happy for the fact the Boys are in camp, Lot's of sun and green grass to follow.
  13. If irrelevant means completely killing your argumnet, then yes I agree. Love him, like him, hate him, it doesn't matter. He was the most successful GM the Red Sox have had any anyones life time on this board. Stamp your feet and hold your breath all you want, it's not going to change anything.
  14. So this means Ortiz is the only remaining player from the 2004 Championship team right?
  15. It's already crowding the forum lol Any bigger and you will be here all by yourself
  16. Ok, I chuckled a bit on this one. Don't let it go to your head
  17. You guys are right, this team is absolute s***. Can they just forfeit the season and save us all the misery? I mean it's really the only logical thing to do. No way they can compete. They might not even win 10 games once all the SP go down. What a bunch of oxygen thieves. I mean the Yankess entered last season with Colon, Garcia and Burnett as 3/5 of the starting rotation, no # 2 and CC. They should have forfeited their season as well. Pfft the nerve of them playing it out and waisting everyones time.
  18. Thanks for everything Tim, you have been a class act your entire tenure in Boston and your contributions to the Red Sox franchise and the community will never be forgotten #knucklin49
  19. I think everone is having flash backs to when it was Pedro and after him was the garbage fill ins This isn't the case now. They don't have one good SP and hoping the garbage manages to take up the 4 other spots. They have a #1 and 2 guys that are probably #2-3 that can pitch like #1's for stretches and an unknown with high upside. Unless the rotation become a mash unit most of the guys won't see any substantial time. Most of them are just ST cannon fodder.
  20. With a good FB and sinker could he end up being a decent BP option?
