No, I'm not surprised that the player requested anonymity. No one wants be named these days. I was joking about the phone rights part, but if he's calling his buddies up on the team phone during the game (not likely, if you didn't detect the sarcasm), then there'd be a problem.
I have nothing against being friends with someone on another team, but IMO, and perhaps in the minds of other Yankee fans, he crossed the line and was unprofessional in talking about his team's situation. Frankly Pavano hasn't given enough this year to be happy or unhappy about "his" situation. RJ has griped. When he pitches well, I'll let it slide; when he doesn't, then he should shut up. As far as griping rights go, if the player pulls his weight and things aren't working, then he might have a legitimate case.
I just don't see a point in this whole thing. What's done is done; he signed the contract, at his own discretion until some other breaking news story tells me he didn't.
So anyways, I thought I'd mention this, in case Carl Pavano wants to make some friends with "True Yankees". Actually most of the article is about past Yankees, future Yankees, or somewhere in between.
Some guys are meant to be Yankees and some are not
Pedro? WHAT?! Well maybe Posada might actually get along with him better than say, RJ. And I don't want to get started on another round of debating, so I'll just say that the two have been civil about their lack of pitcher-catcher chemistry; RJ seems to be doing fine with Flaherty, and Posada well, this guy doesn't get called out in the NY media the way other "True Yankees" get called out (Jeter, Williams, Rodriguez - he's on the Yankee payroll, he's a Yankee). So just win and hopefully nobody will notice...
