  1. Uhh, when it's mathematically finished? I guess I'm not fun.
  2. No. No way. Rocket wouldn't. It would be terrible...
  3. Well I'm going to call myself a Yankee fan, one that's not blindingly optimistic maybe, because I don't expect Wright to do that at all. Hopefully 5 IP, 3 ER or less, something like that. Keep the team in the ballgame. Effective and efficient. That's all. :dunno:
  4. T.O.'s more high-profile.
  5. MLBPA already has so much power in the game. It's quite ridiculous. So does Gammons "know" who the "mega-star" is? Umm, thanks for the heads-up that MLB's image is going to be tarnished, again?
  6. George also hasn't been referring to Torre by name.
  7. I think it's just too hard. It's not a knock because they've already accomplished so much. The core of their team is still there, with Leinart, Bush, etc. Not to mention since it's being held in Pasadena, they're quite the favs to go there. Who will get screwed over by the BCS, isn't that the question every year?
  8. This is scary how some of you post the same thing at the same time. Good thing that there's no Yanks-Sox until May.
  9. Bleh, I guess you people stick to your professional sports? Aren't you slightly curious as to how Charlie Weis is going to fare at Notre Dame? Washington's on the schedule this season. Most sources have USC at number one, Tennessee's pretty high, Big Ten as the best conference. Texas is not going anywhere until they beat Oklahoma. Every year, it's the same ol' sad story, and every year under the Mack Brown tenure, they lose. Btw, Jason White's done with the NFL due to his "bad knees". I'm not saying anything.
  10. PC cops strike again! Now Gov Bush is all up-in-arms over this...but there are Seminole Guardians elsewhere in the country, and perhaps that's a reason why they're banning this. It doesn't affect football, as much as basketball, etc., because bowl games aren't NCAA regulated, I think. No tomahawk chop during March Madness. I don't think Illinois can even using "Fighting" Illini in their chants. Wow, wonder when NCAA will actually look at how dismal academic records are at some of these schools. There's a pro football team with a name that's probably the most offensive of all...nothing being done about that? :dunno:
  11. Gotcha. I'm so sick of FAs using New York as a bargaining chip to run up their contracts. It's not gonna work anymore, fellas, too bad.
  12. He did it on purpose. Got arrested for that, too. So now that he's unscathed, it's fair game to criticize how he could've seriously injured those sitting beneath the net. Game sucked, but you don't hurl yourself off the balcony. This Yankees team isn't worth it. Didn't a guy jump of Niagara and survive? Insane.
  13. Yup...thinking to themselves, "Should've kept Fred Ex, why'd we let him go?" Umm, no. Naaaaah.
  14. Letterman's Top Ten: Top Ten Things Going Through This Guy's Mind At This Moment 10. "Thought the third base coach was giving me the 'jump' sign" 9. "Will I get to watch the end of the game in my jail cell?" 8. "Figured I'd beat the traffic" 7. "If I had a girlfriend, she'd be impressed" 6. "I'm sure Steinbrenner won't mind" 5. "If Marv Albert uses this, I hope he adds a comical 'bong!'" 4. "Giambi said that stuff he gave me would make me fly" 3. "I hope they do some funny jokes about this on Leno!" 2. "I wonder if the newspaper will refer to me as a 'moron' or an 'idiot'" 1. "If a drunken stooge can't disgrace himself at sporting events, then the terrorists have won" Letterman warned his audience sitting in the balcony that there's no netting below.
  15. No. The Giants would want too much, and we have only a bag of chips and some flat soda. A lot of teams looked at Schmidt this year, a lot of teams that have a lot more to offer and better chances to acquire him. I think, perhaps only can hope, that the Yankees are heading into a new direction after this year. It didn't work out. Maybe it's a good thing ten years down the line, after some rebuilding. Meh. Building an entire team out of FA doesn't work. A couple to plug in some holes, add some depth, that helps, but this is a disaster.
  16. New York is too preoccupied with its own problems right now. Starting pitching might pan out if Small and Chacon keep it up, and Wright is fairly effective; still waiting on Leiter. Relief is an issue (Torre!), and CF is a huge hole. GAPING.
  17. Go ahead. Might be quite interesting to see a Pavano-Burnett showdown? I'd be pissed if Burnett even managed to stay healthy for an entire season. Grr. Washburn...Angels, right? I don't think Anaheim's looking to make any moves unless they can gain a substantial edge against Oakland. We don't have anything to trade. Not this year, anyways.
  18. No, you guys can have him. NL pitching is not the answer. Burnett hasn't even lived up to the hype in Florida, and he's injury-prone.
  19. Where is he going to find a situation that's better than Philly? The people loved him for playing hurt in the SB. He has a great QB in McNabb (before he opened his trap), he's the stud on that WR core (because they have no depth), and Andy Reid isn't a person to shout/humiliate a player, so it really makes you wonder what Owens did to draw such a reaction. There's Baltimore...oh wait, he already shot down that option. Would be funny to see Ray Lewis smack him around for saying crap.
  20. I have this feeling that Small is going to the BP. If anything Leiter should come up with the short end of the stick, but if they don't DFA him, he's not going into relief because of his control problems/walks. But if Small can get Sturtze and Gordon relief (and Rivera!), then I wouldn't be so opposed to the idea. Small should be starting, he's earned his spot. Word on Pavano is six weeks, but expect entire year.
  21. Wright goes six innings in rehab start 2 ER, 4 K ARod2212: Doesn't Yankee Stadium have a 17-game consecutive sell-out going on? I don't think I could muster any optimism if I was present. Just knew it was over. OVER. Should we have beaten the White Sox, when we are a bunch of fundamentally flawed, $200 million dollar roster with no depth? No. But could have, could have because we were so close, and it hurts that no one could get a hit when it mattered. Paltry and pathetic.
  22. Heh, know it's a different league and don't have his stats here, but the Cardinals acquiring Eckstein in the SS three-way definitely worked out for them. Seems like one out of every three games, Ecks is makes a huge contribution either with a squeeze at the end, a big hit, or something. Good to see. Renteria isn't horrible. He'll adjust to the "pressure", but I don't even see that being a factor now.
  23. Bernie shouldn't start in center again. Ya hear that, Torre? Posada, what are we going to do with him... Rivera's ERA wants compensation for being inflated. For the series, the Yankees hit .167 and went 1-19 with RISP. Bats go cold again.
  24. He is done. I'd make a crack about him bribing Dr. Andrews to make the diagnosis (rotator cuff tendinitis), but after today not in good mood. Not in good mood at all. Pavano likely out for season Ten million, for just about nothing. And I can't even blame Pavano (what? Yankee pitchers don't have arms!) for the FO blowing big bucks, banking on him repeating a too good to be true 2004 year. Wright might be back next week. They shouldn't pull on fans' legs like this.
  25. I don't agree with all of Stern's decisions either, but he takes a definitive stance whereas Selig is a puppet. Players have all the power in MLB, considerably more than in the NBA and NFL. You do not mess with Nolan Ryan. Punk.
