  1. Smokey you're not in the best of moods? Sorry. Owens asked not to come back for a week The Eagles have no depth on WR position. Owens still has some value; worst comes to worse, they could make a trade. He ran himself out of S.F., maybe he thinks he can do this again. He had it made in Philly, he had it made. Ha, I can imagine Philadelphians being pissed about this. They mortgage their houses for their team, and their prissy prima donna complains about making $7 mil/yr. This is still the NFC. And they still have McNabb and the defense. Can't be too bad.
  2. LOL, did you just reply to your own post? Yanks lose. 2-1. Identical score from last night.
  3. Posada = automatic out. Martinez walks. Sometimes I just want to get really, really angry with how Torre manages the bullpen. So paying for it now. According to Chicago Tribune Wright could be back as early as next week. If Leiter blows, then he could be re-inserted into the rotation; otherwise if Chacon and Small continue performing, why mess with a good thing? Relief is needed.
  4. Good pitching, bad offense. Good offense, bad pitching. Go figure. Sure am looking forward to the Rangers. Edit: Extra innings. Using Mo in no-save situation. Using Mo in possible LOSS situation. Bernie lets ball drop. AHHHHHH! Nononononono.
  5. A walk to start the eighth...to set up a DP! Thanks Small for the great pitching. Yours and Chacon's record don't exactly show how big you've been for the Yankees. Time to score some runs. ??
  6. Let's get some run support, fellas. Show those White Sox what "Small" ball is all about. Posada takes a whiff. Proctor starting tommorow? Another reliever pushed into an "emergency start". Hope he doesn't turn out like Sturtze.
  7. Basically the NBA just gave up and knew that when Stern handed it down, there's no chance of it getting overturned. I don't know if Selig is intimidated to take a stance, not saying I could do his job better, but it's a commish's job to defend the integrity of the sport, too bad if it hurts a player's feelings. Artest even had a chat with Stern, but his sentence still stood. Rogers didn't seem contrite. He verbally jabbed a cameraman as he was getting fingerprinted. He just doesn't learn.
  8. Hello, Bud Selig, grow a spine and actually fight to take back your sport.
  9. The Yankees also once made the Red Sox an offer on Lou Gehrig. He's MY favorite Yankee, glad that didn't go through.
  10. Plug your conference and team in here. And if you want to take a shot at the BCS, why not, but it's not changing anytime soon. Choklehoma wouldn't have any of it. USC will be going after its 2.5 nd-rd (-ish?), consecutive national champshionship, in Pasadena, CA in the Rose Bowl. Actually that's not exactly my pick; but they're number one (well fine, Harris Poll doesn't come out until a month after the season starts) until someone else can beat them. Bowl Games Gaylords Hotels Music City Bowl? What's next - Meineke Car Care Bowl? Oh wait, that already exists. Edit: Because someone might ask, no, the "THE" in the title is not supposed to endorse Ohio State. Just to give it an extra push. Heh.
  11. 26 to 6: I think you think too much. But it's very amusing. What was that last part? A-Rod's going all Reggie Jackson on us...umm, I guess this is not the place to laugh about it. Oh those Yankees, they'll do just about anything to win.
  12. Meh. Everyone has been Federer-ed thus far. I don't want to like this guy, but his game is far beyond what anyone on the circuit has; Hewitt and Roddick turn to Swiss cheese. "The Bachelor"? "The Hunk"? I'm not even going to say anything... You better bring it, Andy. BRING IT. Great serve, but until he solves Do they have any nicknames for the ladies? LOL. I think Davenport is close; feel for Lindsay because she's been so close, and so consistent, but just couldn't pull the trigger. She is due.
  13. Get used to it. They'll never stop.
  14. Do you not know that question mark may indicate mild skepticism coupled with a tinge of hope? Well, I didn't see any WRs on the Giants. Amani Toomer was LITERALLY in the tomb from the way he caught passes, or the lack thereof. Poor Eli, but I'm sure no one in SD has any sympathy.
  15. Leiter gives up too many walks to go into the BP. And I would happily, gladly, award Embree pinstripes if he can own Ortiz. Publisher's Clearinghouse would then happily, gladly award me with a million dollars. C'mon, 26 to 6, you should know that for relievers to see any action, you have to be a member of Torre's Boys®. Where is Felix Rodriguez? I'm sure benching him is going to straighten him out; he's seen limited action since coming off the DL, and Sturtze could use a break. He's not quite the same since the "emergency start". Proctor's doing an ok job now. I don't want Wang to be rushed, but if he comes back, he's a number three. The rotation spot is earned, memo to Pavano and Wright. Don't expect a Koufaxian postseason out of the starters. Torre's bullpen management is going to render quite a few of them useless...TanGor. TanGor. I do appreciate your optimism though, I guess I'm typing this in not the best mood. stevece80: Thanks for the pics. That's what watching the Yankees feels like at times. Need a burn unit every time Brown touched the ball.
  16. They got Plax? And still have Tiki? Ehh, maybe Camp Coughlin might do them some good, and Strahan's back. In the NFC, there's the Eagles (despite the whirling soap opera), Falcons, Panthers maybe, some ppl seem to be big on the Vikings, but other than that, there's not much else. Giants basically threw in the towel for the rest of the season to get Eli some experience. Well when some of you play Madden, come post your predictions.
  17. Not to question doctor's orders, but if he hands you a can of drug "X", you wouldn't want to know what it is, what it's going to do, etc. What if you're allergic to it? They'd probably check before hand, be on some chart, and even more so, doctors, well most?, explain what they're prescribing, I'd like to think? Hope your surgery goes well.
  18. I'll be able to watch Eli and not cringe this season. I hope?? Edit: As in him actually having protection, some of the sacks had to be bone-rattling...
  19. KB will be out of the Yankees for the rest of his career. Fifty some days, fifty some days. The whole team needs a clean slate. I don't follow. Yes there's a surplus, a surplus of crap. If he's not back, if Wright is not back, the 2004 offseason was a bust, more so than it is already.
  20. Yeah, but one would think Sheffield would check what the cream contained...
  21. Checked, yes my dear, you would be correct in that it is DS.
  22. About Pujols: only player in MLB history to have 30+ HRs in his first five seasons. Teammates, manager (and yes, it's La Russa, but still), all say that he's a great guy. It's been mentioned that Pujols is the one of the toughest outs because he's also *gasp*, smart. He makes observations, studies tape, and if a pitcher strikes him out the first time, he makes those adjustments that might yield a HR second time up.
  23. Now Bernie may be injured. What's next - the bubonic plague? Bernie's shoulder is in jam First off, with a bad shoulder don't do any "shrugging". And second, I would be if Torre plans on putting Womack in center. Take cover. Yankees rotation: RJ (leaving him on the board until he's officially DL-ed; hope it's not that bad...another roster spot on "Brown's Buddies") Moose (0-2 in last two starts, rectify that against the White Sox, would be dandy) Chacon (leaves team in position to win) Small (ditto) Leiter (more guts than Brown...and much less compensated) Hello postseason? :dunno: Left out Pavano because his return is in serious doubt. Wright, if and when he gets back, will be used in the bullpen first by all reports. And I don't want Wang to be rushed...see you in 2006.
  24. No, please don't drag Pujols into this. If he did, I would be seriously disappointed; I saw a piece on how he advocates children with autism (he also has a step-daughter with the disorder), and he's seems like a very genuine and sincere person. Uhh...you'd really think that a major league player would get away with lying about his age? Especially with how high-profile the Yankees are? When that little league fraud got exposed, I doubt Giambi, or anyone, would get away with lying about his age. And even if he did, performance will tell. He can hit Rodriguez up for a personal hairdresser, wow, attentive, much?
  25. Hmm, well it said "database error" and that an e-mail was dispatched to the Techincal Staff, something like that. But at one point the page didn't even exist...
