  1. Heh, I think I misread ARod2212's post, it was who could SWEEP their opponents, not who it was most important to. So then yes there's agreement that it's more important for Angels to distance themselves from the A's, and the Sox-Yanks saga. Really want Rivera to record a save against the White Sox. Stick it to them.
  2. What do the White Sox have to worry about? Ram it down the Yankees throats just for fun? Put it on cruise control, please?
  3. We cracked him first. Mwahaha. Heads up...oops.
  4. Please, don't mention Guerrero. We could use a cannon of an arm in the OF. And we actually had a shot at him, too. So Sheffield better hit, absolutely CRUSH that ball. Vlad can hit it anywhere, but I think his one weakness is busting him inside, which Oakland tries to do (Zito! ). Get him off that plate (or try to). Found this MLB.com article on, funny you should mention this!, Vlad and the Bonds treatment (that's intentional walks, not the other stuff). Guerrero gets Bonds treatment
  5. I would be ecstatic if Leiter could give the BP a break. Winning against the Yankees, nothing beats that. Torre soundbite:
  6. Sheff seems like the guy that would have your back...sorta, whereas Bonds, his head is too far up his arse. Oh yeah, still don't trust this (Yankees) team to go up against Anaheim. They've owned us for the most part. Btw, we started the dent in the Angels BP (see two consecutive blown saves). Gotta respect them, though.
  7. Quotations from the ever-literate crowd at YES boards?
  8. Okie doke, here goes: 1. NCAA Football 2. MLB 3. NFL 4. NCAA Basketball 5. NBA 6. NCAA Baseball 7. NHL 8. NCAA Hockey
  9. Rivera had some bursitis or something; he didn't risk throwing in the offseason, and still it showed up in spring training. And problem is, Torre hasn't exactly used him in save situations. Torre manages by the same ol' manual, and he can't make adjustments if something goes wrong with TanGorMo, which at this rate, with this workload, they will be rendered useless come postseason. If anything, he should find out if he can trust F-Rod, Proctor (heh?), Embree (mwahaha), and other relievers who've been shelved thus far, NOW, much less the frickin' postseason. As far as the whole closer-starter-in-one thing, for every John Smoltz, there are two dozens of Eric Gagnes.
  10. Umm, last I checked, the Angels BP is getting worn out too; Mike Scioscia can't really say anything else. K-Rod picked up a loss. Skip Bayless = gag. Shuddup. Ha, heard on "Cold Pizza" that ppl stop and ask Paige why he hasn't, well, whacked him yet.
  11. Ok, then going to the bridge, why was it always TanGor, TanGor? Torre seems like he can't win if the "TanGorMo Manual" fails. So the close ones that the Yankees win, it's almost like we win in spite of, not because, of Torre's management, or lack thereof.
  12. Joe's Boys, dear, Joe's Boys. © Just give an arm, that's all. Goes back to the White Sox game. Sick.
  13. No. Steinbrenner hasn't been too happy with Torre's decisions. He wouldn't, I don't think at least, call him to make moves, and then blame Torre for them not panning out. Sometimes Steinbrenner gets a little carried away in the FO. But I doubt it carries over to the actual game management. Not to mention, wouldn't he want to protect Rivera, arguably the best asset on the Yankees? Ha. Now Mo's getting "lit up"; within two weeks his ERA has gone up by almost an entire run.
  14. I know. Definitely want him healthy for next year, if we can salvage anything. Same deal with Wang-er. Most players wouldn't be on the DL if they weren't hurt, given the lack of depth. Ha, what's the reaction at the YES boards? Any, "FIRE TORRE" threads lighting up?
  15. Yeah but we basically paid him ten mil for nothing this year. Jeez. Most people would get fired for that kinda (non-existent) production. Weighing options here...Proctor (0-4), or Small (4-0). Real tough one. Ya can't fault Torre here. He brought us four rings! /sarcasm. Hey isn't Leiter pitchinig tonight? Please locate the strikezone, pretty please. Would it be so much to ask for some innings, but yeah...I think it is. Small's just sitting there...with a 2.57 ERA...not used in the BP, not starting. WHY?!
  16. You're kidding me. No. I'd rather him play CENTER; if that position is going to be atrocious, I'd much rather get some humor out of it. Why can't they ever make an accurate diagnosis? Get us all hyped over Pavano, and now he looks like he's not coming back. Actually the thought of Brown on the mound scares me. As it should.
  17. *smack* Sorry I couldn't resist.
  18. Wasn't Hernandez the first to record double-digit Ks since Gooden? It just shows up as a loss, so whatever, it's more disturbing if you can see future ramifications such as (beating this with a stick) tired BP, but then again it doesn't feel good to lose for no reason...
  19. Cardinals fans? Where are you?!
  20. There's such a thing as a "good" loss, huh?
  21. NC, even though I'd like to see nothing than Roy-Roy exposed (try recruiting your own players, give Doherty that), with that kind of program, they just reload, not rebuild. Wake even though they lost Paul. GT might rebound. NC State always has guts. MD...not commenting. Iowa? Is taking the Big Ten title? No Michigan and no OSU. How does Iowa State avoid Oklahoma and Texas, anyways? (Yeah, switched conferences there.) Interesting games on paper: Texas at Ohio State - 10/10 Ohio State at Michigan - 11/19 Red River Shootout - meh? Me look at schedule some other day.
  22. The "Rivera Sucks" thread is cursed. Shh. Don't reply to it! Does Stottlemyre have a say in any of this? Can't he tell that his pitchers are overworked? Torre screws up the line-up (*cough* CF), so yeah, maybe Stottlemyre could help him figure out the pitching... Ha. That's quite laughable on second thought.
  23. Yeah but Big East didn't fare too well in the tourney last year; there were more ACC teams left despite less bids.
  24. Bwahaha, schools switching conferences to help with the football schedule. ACC hoops isn't cupcake, though.
  25. I guess as each day goes by, there's one less day to close the gap, and gosh knows that Torre "wants to win everything", so somehow it wouldn't surprise me to see him ride that BP more and more. And every day I turn to look at the boxscore and see "BOS" atop the standings, it's one more day that I have to force down my cereal.
