Seems like someone is jumping to conclusions about small ball in the American League. We didn't do a whole lot of any of that stuff last year and we won big time. I think that the defensive fundamentals are fine but I know you guys will all bitch and moan if you don't score 1000 runs a night. I have been a sox fan my whole life and so has my dad and his dad. We have always based our team around big bats. It makes sense given the stadium.
I would like nothing more than seeing Manny again in 2006 but I think an intriguing possibility is to bring Matsui in to play left on a three year deal and trading Manny away for some other characters. How sweet would it be to have a great defensive player like Matsui manning the monster for us. Plus we have all seen what kind of stick he brings to the game. I would love to see the Mizuno bat playing for us as opposed to against us. What do y'all think.

Thanks to the team for a great year and a great ride. I appreciate it very much. This team has been special. They made me and my father very happy last year. I feel a lot more comfortable now saying "Wait til next year?" Talk to y'all later.

After seeing him pitch in person and watching him demonstrate his uncanny ability to walk guys I think he needs to only pitch the second half of each season. We could split time with him and wade miller and actually get one pitcher who can be effective the whole year.

Dude,
You are pretty dumb. If they use all the relievers who were already tired we would have a more difficult time winning the playoff series.
You need to not talk if you don't have anything pertinent to say.
There you are wrong. Every team A-hole has played for has become better when he leaves. That's a fact. He may be a great individual player but he doesn't bring leadership and guts to the team that a guy like Jeter brings. Jeter is the MVP for the yanks. Not A-rod. You may want to look deeper than stats. If you want a history lesson look at last year. From top to bottom the Yankees had more talent but the Red Sox had heart which got them through to become the first team to come back from 3-0. Think about it.
The reason A-Rod won't win the MVP is because he lacks the ability to play in the clutch. He has muffed several big plays in the field and has also not hit the long ball when he needed to. Manny tends to hit his dingers when they are needed while A-rod may hit a home run when the yanks are either 6 runs up or down. MVP votes need to take that into account.
Ortiz has been and will always be a DH unless we get to the World Series again. Ramon is capable of backing up Mueller at third for a night and if we need to bring Youks back up from AAA in case or injury that is easily done. If Millar don't start pulling his weight I would think that he would be traded or released. He isn't worth the money anymore. Had I known this would be his level of performance I would have rather seen Dougie come back for another season in Beantown and let him keep the damn ball. He at least brings some nice leather to the table. He may not be the best hitter in the game but he is one of the best glovemen. Millar is an amusing character and that's it right now. I say start Olerud as he can defend and still hits pretty well. Just my two cents.
I agree with the Papelbon move. I think Timlin's best role is as a setup guy. Papelbon can shut the door a little bit more reliably than Schilling. I hate to say it but I think Schilling should take the rest of the year off and if he can get himself back into playing shape maybe he can be strong enough to pitch like Schilling in the playoffs. A hurt Schilling is worse than no Schilling at this time.
Lately he has not instilled in me a feeling of confidence. He gives up big time home runs and doesn't seem dominating. I don't like him as a closer and want him to get back to the form of last year. I love the guy and hate seeing him get beat up like this.
You know.
I think Francona will be loyal to Graf since he has been playing so well. Bellhorn will probably hang out in the minors for a while at least. So no huge decision needs to be made right now.
