  1. We've had "good young talent" for the last decade. Heard of Jason Kendall? Brian Giles? Aramis Ramirez? Jason Schmidt? Esteban Loaiza? Denny Neagle? Jon Lieber? Francisco Cordova? Jose Guillen? Al Matin? Kris Benson? Todd Ritchie? Scott Sauerbeck? Pat Meares? Chad Hermansen? Craig Wilson? Jack Wilson? Kip Wells? ... I'll stop there because I think I've proved my point. Did we ever win with anything with any of those guys? It seems like the Pirates talent is always overhyped especially pitchers. That being said I think Zack Duke is going to be a star, and I wish he was with another team so the best years of his career wouldn't be wasted playing for the pirates. 13 consecutive losing seasons has to mean something.
  2. I don't care about 2003. I don't care about 2004. All I care about is 2005. What happened in 2003 and 2004 doesn't matter now. It doesn't matter if we've come back from being down 10 games before. The past is the past. That being said I dont think we're dead in any sense of the word, but I certainly am not as confident as I was a few days ago.
  3. I've loved Tony since he got here but that ball going through his legs is completely unacceptable. You're a MLB player, and your on the biggest stage. You have to be perfect ... atleast as far as routine plays go. You need to be sharp, and make sure you catch every ball that comes your way. Nothing matters but the playoffs once you get there. I dont care if he didn't have a single error all season ... because all the matters is that he now has one BIG error in the playoffs.
  4. I've been saying for a while that Macha is going to be the Pirates coach and now it's all set. I don't think any coach would leave a situation as good as Oakland unless they could have their dream job. Macha being from Pittsburgh has dreamed of coaching the Pirates, and will next year. Don't expect us to all the sudden become a playoff team or anything, but if he brings in the right coaching staff I think we can contend in the future.
  5. I'll go with Colon, and Rivera running a distant 2nd.
  6. It's not unexplainable ... you just explained it. He simply does not have the stamina to last a full season.
  7. Yeah I just corrected myself, but thanks.
  8. I apologize as I misheard what was said about the records. It's actually since August 1st the Chisox and Rockies were both 30-28.
  9. I'm not trying to say that you only beat bottom feeders, but your first half schedule was insanely easy and you took advantage of it, and slowed down once you had a harder schedule. I'm not trying to insult the Chisox just saying that you may not be as good as your record suggests. Obviously they're a great team though.
  10. Wow. Why does everyone here hate Gammo so much?
  11. In MLB it does but not NFL. In NFL there is no mention of the team/s you played for.
  12. You don't go into the NFL as a member of any team. Just a player.
  13. I may be slightly worried about their pitching staff, but their team as a whole does not scare me. Remember they did build up their huge lead against the cup cake teams in the first half of the season, and when they had to play teams .500 or better they showed their true colors. The Chisox had the same post ASB record as the Rockies ... thats right ... the Rockies ... atleast I believe it was the Rockies ... if not it's another bottom feeding team. The ChiSox are a good team, but we're a better team, and we'll prove it this week. Don't worry.
  14. We've had a number of young guys for the past 13 years and it never worked out. I'll say it again DALE IS NOT GOING TO COACH THIS TEAM. The Pirates are getting a coach with MLB managerial experience PERIOD. Lloyd Mcclendon was hired simply because he used to wear black and gold, and that was a misserable failure. They wont make the same mistake twice. Right now from everything I've been hearing it seems that Ken Macha is a lock to be the next manager with Bryan Price(who resigned today) as the pitching coach. The Pirates definatly have a lot of talent at pitcher. Duke, Perez, Malholm(the guy who you all think is like duke but isn't nearly as good), van benschotten, burnett, snell, etc. The Pirates have always had pretty good pitching ... what we need bats. I think if the Pirates add 1 or 2 legit bats this offseason they have a shot to crack .500 but I'm not holding my breath. I'm willing to bet my left nut that Dale will not be the Pirates manager.
  15. Not all of them, because our main reason is that Giambi used roids in the past.
  16. I apologize. I see what your saying now, but still Ortiz had always been pretty big. I'd say dating back to his birth.
  17. Our evidence for accusing Giambi is that we know he used steroids in the past. We know he had to stop using steroids, and now all the sudden it looks like he's on them again. Ortiz has never even been accused by anyone with half a brain of using steroids. Not the same argument at all.
  18. Delcarmen is not a closer, and Shoppach is not going to catch for the Red Sox ever, so maybe you should try again.
  19. Hold the f***ing phone ... when was Ortiz EVER skinny? Plus how can you accuse someone like Ortiz when you defend Giambi. You realize Giambi admitted steroid use right. What evidence do you have to prove Papi ever used roids? Right none. Rookie Year: http://www.homeruncards.com/imagesrc/ortizdavidfl.jpg I don't think Sheffield has gained much size at all since his rookie year. He's always pretty much had the same compact frame. I think his use of steroids was more for his injuries and less for adding size.
  20. ... k ... ... ? ... if it was supposed to be some kind of dig because theres only a few pages on the site it's because it's part of another site. http://www.mostvaluablenetwork.com
  21. .... What exactly is the point of that statement? And BTW steroids do make you stronger which makes your legs stronger ... which gives you more drive. So not only does your statement make no sense, but it's false.
  22. insightful response. You're really making a case not to get banned again.
  23. Ortiz would break BB's walk record with that lineup. He goes from Manny protecting him ... to Preston Wilson.
  24. http://www.all-baseball.com/firebrand/archives/020532.html I was going to sit down and look at stats and make an arguement, but he already did it. If you want Beltran for Manny you wont after reading that.
  25. Well it's simple why he isn't home grown, and you proved it. He ran through the system so quickly he didn't learn anything. We didn't improve him in any way. He's the same pitcher he was in college.
