  1. Actually I believe if the Red Sox didn't sell Babe Ruth there would be no more fenway park, and there would no longer be a team in Boston. If I'm not mistaken the Red Sox needed that money desperatly to keep the team afloat. It wasn't just Boston making a mistake. Good stuff though.
  2. Oh belittling another team .... hmmm ... isn't that what Yankee fans have been doing to the Red Sox for years. I can't count the number of times that I've heard "Oh they have no chance ... it's the Red Sox". Just because, finally, the tables have turned don't start crying about people counting the Yankees out. I think it's fairly obvious who is confident in their team, and who is scared that their team is not making the playoffs. Is it just me or with every day do the Yankee fans here get more and more defensive of their team?
  3. No I didn't say anyone that has done something before is automatically convicted of doing it again. What I ment was that doing it once opens speculation that he could do it again. This is why we have drug rehab in this country, because most drug users will go back to their drug of choice in a time of need, and Giambi was definatly in that time of need. I can't imagine him wanting to go get booed by AAA fans so you could draw the conclusions that he started using again to avoid that. We can't accept that he defied the odds becasue he lied to us before ... he cheated us before, and we refuse to let those two things happen again. We all turned a blind eye to steroid use in the past but that time is over. If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck ...
  4. What made it worse is that the game was decided by a Jason "The Juice" Giambi pop up.
  5. Yeah I see now that you're right. I didn't really check them over just grabbed them off my friends site.
  6. Can you give another example of this happening, because I can't say I remember one. I'm also dying to see the stretch run, but only because I'm not yet able to count the amount of laughs I will have when the Yankees are sitting at home in October.
  7. Here's our last 8 starts just to amplify how we are no longer having those pitching woes. 11th: Wakefield, 8 IP 1 ER 10th: Schilling, 8 IP, 2 ER 9th: Wells, 5.2 IP 5 ER 8th: Clement, 6.2 IP, 3 ER 7th: Arroyo, 8 IP, 3 ER 6th: Wakefield, 9 IP, 2 ER 5th: Schilling, 5.2 IP, 4 ER 4th: Wells, 9 IP, 1 ER Considering Schillings start was still rehab, the only bad start was the one by Wells.
  8. I watched week 1 and that was enough for me to write off the Jets. Not so much because of Chad Pennington not being able to hold a football(which was hilarious btw), but because of how good the AFC is. If you honestly think the Jets are a better team than any of those I listed above then you're in for a rude awakening.
  9. Actually you're post about how dominant RJ was is what made him go off topic.
  10. But the thing is that he has gotten bigger since the season has started. Now, if he came out huge game one then I could possibly buy that, but he didn't. It hasn't just been said by DE, but by other baseball minds ... including, I believe, the afformentioned John Kruk, that you cannot add size during the season legally.
  11. Pitching wins championships. Thats the bottom line. I would much rather have Theo stock up on great pitchers than great hitters for two reasons. One, you are able to tell a lot more about a pitcher coming out of HS, or College, than you are about a hitter. Two, teams tend to give up on hitters too early(see: David Ortiz) and tend to stick with pitchers too long, so it's easier to acquire bats. Drafting pitching is the best way to build a great franchise, and the best way to keep one contending. All in all I am perfectly fine with having "no power" in the minors because we have plenty at the big league level now. Not to mention that great pitching is a premium, and since we have so many great young arms, any power we need could easily come by trading some away.
  12. I'm sorry, but if you think the Jets have any chance at getting past The Steelers, The Pats, and The Colts, then you're dillusional. That's not even counting the Chargers, The Cheifs, The Ravens, The Jags, and The Bills. Sorry to tell ya but the Bills definatly leap frogged you, so that leaves you third in the division. Far from a contender, but hey I can respect blind faith.
  13. How can any Yankee fan make fun of hair styles after adding "gee is it still the 80's" Mullet Man Randy Johnson? And trust me he'd still have it if it wasn't for George's rules.
  14. This coming from our resident HOF manager, and baseball analyst. Thank you for your insight.
  15. ... what the hell kind of school would you go to to learn how to be a manager? I've never heard of a manager college ... or even prep school. What in the sweet chocolate christ are you talking about?
  16. What the f*** does Kruky have to do with this? Improving mechanics never helped a player gain this much power in this short a time. And if Mattingly is this good with someone who sucked as much as Giambi did at the begining of the year then Arod would be hitting .1000 and have 100 HRs already.
  17. No see you're wrong. People do not gain size DURING A SEASON. I think a HOF reliever has been around the game just a little more, and knows just a little bit more than you do, about how things work. Now if Giambi came out day one the size he is now, and hitting the way he is now, fine. But the fact is he didn't, he's gained size and strength, and I don't know why it has to be stated again but DE said that gaining size and strength is not something that happens during the season, and it is impossible to do legally. I believe talking out of your ass applies to you now. And once again ... NOT BLINDLY BASED. He used steroids before ... thats all the basis for an argument you need.
  18. First of all this is the first post you had to "spell out", and I don't see where exactly you did that. Maybe I need to spell out my posts for you. Your original post did nothing but further s*** talking on the Red Sox. You said that we've had trouble with Toronto, and all I was saying is that you've had trouble with a team much much worse. So basically what I was talking about goes back to that old saying people like to use on here ... people in glass houses ...
  19. Wow I do remember that, and watching it again was almost as great as the first time. 2 current Pens are involved in that fight, Recchi and Leclair ... and Recchi was kicking ass.
  20. I think we lived up to those losses our entire lives, and it's all we heard about until last year. I think RSN had to live up to those losses for 86 years. Stop acting like you've ever lived through hard times as a 90's Yankee fan. You haven't even been able to understand baseball for a decade yet ... come back to me when you live through half the heart breaks we have. The earliest you could have possibly understood the game was in '94, so all you've seen is winning teams ... just wait a few years and see how tough you are. I think someone is just very bitter right now.
  21. When the best team loses isn't that choking? Anyway, you can keep making fun of the Sox all you want for choking, because you know whats really funny? From now until the end of time whenever the word choking is mentioned, the 2004 Yankees will be mentioned right after it. Whenever a team goes up 3-0 in a series "The biggest choke in sports history" will be brought up. So make whatever jokes you want but when you're watching the playoffs this year just hope no one goes up 3-0.
  22. How many of them took place in a 5 year span? I've never seen a team choke this many times in 5 years.
  23. You're right ... I forgot to factor in the Yankee choke ratio. My bad.
  24. Damn these Yankee fans get pretty ballsy after a win. Where were all of you guys yesturday when your team was getting destroyed? BTW Toronto is just a weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bit better than Tampa Bay.
