  1. He just kicks it into another gear when it's close and late or there's runners in scoring position, no matter how many outs there are. I am forever indebted to Big Papi.
  2. But was he liked when he was hitting so poorly the Yankees were going to send him to the Minor Leagues? Not at all.
  3. And what about Yankees fans? Or is knowing only two arguments ("1918!" and "26 to 6"), one of which isn't even valid anymore, some form of genius? Not living anywhere NEAR Boston or New York, and listening to unbiased opinions about the two, the general consensus seems to be Yankees fans are a lot more ignorant.
  4. If he was stupid enough to use them once, he's stupid enough to do them again. And newsflash, even when Giambi had originally been using steroids, he never would've tested positive... so really, what does that prove? Giambi got his steroids from BALCO, a company that had been giving out designer steroids -- steroids designed to be undetectable. And what steroids he didn't get from BALCO -- it was HGH, which is also undetectable by the steroids tests the MLB does. Why wouldn't he do it if he knew he couldn't get caught? Like I said, he did them once before when he knew he couldn't get caught, by MLB, anyway, so why wouldn't he do them? He's got an inferiority complex... he always has. That alone is enough to make a man do something like steroids.
  5. Yeah, I didn't mean that as a smart ass remark towards you, and I appologize if it came off that way. I wouldn't know, in terms of baseball, but when I played football, it was the same way with me as I've heard it is with baseball from trainers and past players. Game day workouts are light, certainly nothing that can build muscle -- and practically every day is a gameday in baseball.
  6. Oky... so why do past players and team trainers say it's impossible to do? Or do they not know what they're talking about?
  7. Once you can come up with an actual way in which he can gain muscle during a season, playing practically every day, then this thread will die. But he's gained muscle during the regular season -- which is impossible to do without aid.
  8. Oh, well, in that case... it's a perfectly acceptable argument and it does pertain to the subject at hand.
  9. Yes. A lot of people do do it. In fact, you've made quite a habit of it. You don't like what we talk about? That's fine. We're not forcing you to read these threads or visit these boards. Once a cheater, always a cheater -- and it will be brought into question when a guy actually gets bigger during the MLB season, which is widely thought to be impossible by past players who I think would know what they're talking about. This guy was on the verge of being sent down to the Minor Leagues and within a short period of time, is now looking like an MVP -- if you don't think it's likely that he's back on steroids, then that's a strong case of denial you've got there
  10. great game last night. Vincent Young is amazing. Don't know if anyone else has seen this, but the new rankings are out and Notre Dame is at #10, following their victory over Michigan.
  11. Yep. I saw that as well. He made note of how Giambi has gotten bigger over the course of the season and how it's impossible to do that legally. I would be shocked if he's doing this without the aid of steroids.
  12. I disagree. Some teams never got a chance to go for 3 in a row. Broncos had two in a row before losing John Elway, one of the greatest QB's ever -- so I'd say they never really got a chance. I think those Broncos teams get overlooked in the discussion of best team ever. The Bears, which a lot of people agree was the best team ever, was broken up following their Super Bowl. Had they been kept together, they could've done it. Like I said before, I don't think the Patriots could beat the Steelers teams, the Broncos, 49ers, or the Bears. They may not have been able to get up and win 20+ straight games, etc -- but when they showed up for a game, they embarassed anybody wearing an opposing teams jersey, not just winning on a last second FG or such. That doesn't make the Pats feat any worse, but I think there's a difference between beating the second best team by 3 and beating them by multiple touchdowns.
  13. The tuck rule WAS right. That's why it's called the tuck rule... it's a rule in the rulebook. It's a s***** rule... but they won that game fairly.
  14. I've never seen any of the Star Wars movies, actually. I think I may be the only one in that category
  15. Hats off to the worst third base coach ever. Did he actually think Tek had a chance? I was half expecting a WWF like moment where he rips off his Sox jersey, revealing a Yankees uni.
  16. Agreed. I don't think any of these Patriots teams have been better than some of the 49ers Championship teams or the '86 Bears. They're certainly up there, though.
  17. Yep. Watson is no Andre Miller, but he's a capable player. They don't need him to score, like Andre Miller had to do a lot. I'd think he'd be successful in a system with 'Melo, Pierce, K-Mart, and Camby. I was kind of questioning signing him, considering who they've already got at PG... but it makes sense if this deal goes down.
  18. Yeah, he was injured last year, and when he came back, he played kinda soft. But having watched him play in the past, he's not usually that type of player. The general perception around the league is that he's going to be a great player. I think Nene would be great for you. You're not going to compete for a Championship this year, so why not add to your already bright looking future?
  19. Nene is one of the most sought after, young players in the league. In a few years, he's going to be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
  20. Apparently, the Celtics might trade Paul Pierce to the Nuggets for Andre Miller and Nene. As a Nuggets fan, I have absolutely no idea what to think about this trade. I'm kind of excited as I think it makes the Nuggets a title contender right away... but I've always thought we'd rue the day we trade Nene. http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/37234/20050908/report_paul_pierce_to_be_traded_to_nuggets/
  21. He deserves it. I will always remember his HR in Game 4 of the ALCS -- I still get goosebumps just seeing replays of it. And Yankeessuck had a good point. This is how MVP awards are won and lost. Remember, Vlad won it because of how he carried his team on his back, last year. Look at the numbers -- .313 when it's close and late. .348 with runners in scoring position. .385 with runners in scoring position and two out.
  22. Actually, I believe the owner of the Saints has been threatening to move the team if he doesn't get a new stadium. If the Saints can get a new stadium, they can try and play in Death Valley for the time being, possibly, and it may actually save the NFL in New Orleans, for the time being. Or, if the Saints were to relocate, I'm sure they'd be given an NFL franchise when New Orleans is fit to house one, again. It's a tough break. The revenue a professional football team produces would be great for the city, but it's just not possible to play games there, for the time being.
  23. "A little discomfort"? That's just a wee bit of an understatement. The man had a surgical procedure on the ankle he drives towards the plate with within 24 hours of pitching in an elimination game in the ALCS. That is toughness.
  24. How do you know? Because he said so? That's a pretty weak argument -- I'm sure even you'd agree. And just because you don't understand how something works means it doesn't work? Once again, a weak argument. Do you know how nicotine or birth control patches work? Or should people steer clear from those?
  25. I read on another message board that it was mentioned during the Florida State/Miami game that they'd be tearing down the Superdome -- did anyone else see this? Because I see no mentioning of it online, so I'm a little hesitant to believe it.
