  1. there ya go...sorry it took so long between updates, busy with a ton of s*** lately. Now it's February..the fun part starts as pitchers and catchers will begin to report to camps shortly and then we get to start seeing these guys in their new uniforms. As well as all of the movement that comes with Spring Training.... the most wonderful time of the year...
  2. With the M's wrapping up their persuit of Wilkerson today (rotoworld), I would guess that that dramatically increases the liklihood of Trot Nixon/Red Sox reunion. Who gets 7?
  3. Well naturally there won't be room for all of them... But I do like the signing.
  4. I'm down to kill that guy. Seriously...
  5. Jeter would surprise me...A-Rod not so much
  6. I see what you're saying, but no way we would have traded both Melky and Jackson. But even still, despite my favorable feelings towards Melky, there could have been no complaining if that trade went down. Doesn't matter at this poing though, I'm fine with what we have. Santana would have been nice, and so would have been his paycheck..so either way it doesn't make much of a difference. Granted making a move of that magnitude would have more than likely made us the favorites in not only the AL East but probably the AL all together, but I feel we can absolutely compete with the Beaneaters as is.
  7. I predict that Drew will fail to show for a day game in mid-June which prompts Sox officials to begin a witch-hunt for him, which results in him turning up passed out in the basement of a gay bar, pretty much forcing him to come out of the closet. In the weeks following after he'll retire from baseball due to a lack of acceptence in the clubhouse, and go on to become a gay rights activist. ...sounds a little farfetched but it wouldn't shock me.
  8. also interesting to note when discussing the Yankees in this equation, is that they could have had Santana WITHOUT giving up Hughes as Smith called Cash on Monday and offered Santana for Melky, Kennedy, and another prospect. My main objection to getting Santana was giving up Hughes..Melky too, but mainly Hughes. If the Yankee rotation fails to succeed this year it may ABSOLUTELY cost Ca$h his job... http://www.northjersey.com/sports/mets/Yankees_played_a_big_hand_in_allowing_the_Mets_to_complete_a_trade_for_Johan_Santana.html
  9. How can you necessarily say that? The Mets haven't done s*** this offseason with the exception of a handful of moves here or there. The Yanks brought back everybody, brought in a new charismatic manager, have a solid core of young talent, and lets not forget which NY team appeared in last years postseason. I can't look at this as a negative for the Yankees, because showing that restraint and failing to give in and ship out solid young guys i squite something when it comes to the Yankees. If all the the actions of the Yankees organization were motivated by the actions/outcome of the Mets and/or Red Sox then we would all be f***ed. To an extent it was like that, but look where that got us....I think it's a win for the 3 east coast teams involved, and still a toss-up for the Twinkies.
  10. This is absolutely a win for all involved. He's not at the top of the Boston rotation, we still have Hughes and Melky, and he's still ended up in New York. This is huge for the Mets and their fanbase, especially considering Minaya's lack of action this offseason. It'll be fun to watch him anchor that staff and bring them straight to the postseason (hopefully..unless they find a way to blow it like last year) while not having to worry about having to face him in the AL.
  11. Mattingly has stepped down as Dodgers hitting coach. Not too disappointed. Would have been tough seeing him in a different uniform. Although he will probably still be in camp with the team.
  12. I guess I'm just gonna have to kill that motherf***er then.
  13. MAJOR UPDATE ...took MUCH longer than I expected, but I wanted to make sure I had EVERYTHING in there, including all of the minor league transactions this offseason. Couldn't be more complete than this. Enjoy. Sorry for the delay..
  14. I've been intrigued by the Brewers for the past few seasons and followed them from a far and enjoyed watchign them play. You have to love their young players who really make up the core of that team, plus they have some veteran influence on the team and a fine manager. After following them the past few seasons it's good to see them climbing into the picture.
  15. A's made out well here, except for that nice fat portion of Kotsay's salary that they're consuming off of the Braves' plate. Kotsay makes sense for Atlanta for the short-term, and despite giving up Devine, considering how little they have to pay him it's worth the risk.
  16. Yeah, absolutely. I do think the Jays made a good deal, but the same can be said for the Cards too. Fact of the matter is that it makes sense for the Cards to get Rolen out of St. Louis for the obvious reasons, and it made sense that the Jays would want to get Glaus out, especially after being named in the Mitchell Report. If Rolen can come back completely healthy he can be a huge contributor for the Jays, and not only on offense but he can do it on defense too. I think it works out well for both teams. Just a nice old-fashioned straight up trade.
  17. who said he was an All-Star?
  18. Well congratulations to Goose Gossage for finally getting his induction, even if he is following Sutter when it should have been the other way around. Interestingly when in regards to a Hall of Famer, Gossage spent the duration of his career with several different teams. Of course the 6 and a half seasons with the Yankees, but pror to that 5 seasons with the White Sox, 1 in Pittsburgh, and after leaving the Yankees 4 seasons in San Diego, 1 in Chicago with the Cubs, half of '89 with the Giants (before being traded back to the Yankees), 1990 he spent with the Fukuoka Deai(currently Softbank) Hawks in Japan, and then '91 with the Rangers, the next two seasons in Oakland, and finished out in 1994 with Seattle. I just thought it was interesting, considering typically HOFers don't make too many stops. It's pretty obvious that he'll be enshrined wearing a Yankee cap on his plaque, as should be. Considering that he had 310 career saves during a period when a closer's duty didn't solely consist of picking up saves, but also holding onto and winning games; which he did with a .537 winning percentage (124-107), it's a mystery why it took so long for him to get inducted, but not only that but why it took so long for closers of that era to be appreciated. I think Goose Gossage is well deserving of this honor.
  19. That was in Spring Training the year before, and he didn't throw a wild pitch, he just threw up and in,f***ing around with him. How could he "throw a wild pitch to his son" last year in the minors considering he never pitched a game in the same league as Koby last year, and as for the season prior, they played on the SAME TEAM in Lexington. What you just said doesn't make sense.
  20. I'm not saying Rog didn't do it, but it's worth pointing out that in the phone conversation, everytime Roger asked McNamee why he lied, he never once responded "I didn't lie" or "you did do it." He never acknowledged that what he told the Mitchell investigators was the truth, he just wanted to "make things better." And as for people saying he isn't doing enough to defend his innocence, just because he didn't hastily jump into things and initially released statements through his representatives, he has come forth, spoken publicly, agreed to testify before congress, filed suit against McNamee, answered questions, however vaguely. There is no doubt ROger has knowledge of steroids, even Canseco acknowledged that in his book, while also saying he didn't know if Roger did or not, so that would explain IF HE WERE INNOCENT why he's beating around the bush a little in the interviews, because any slight implication regarding him and steroids, even if just doing research, would hurt his case. And also a good point is that while steroids may enhance one's performance, even in their later years, it wouldn't prolong one's career, in fact it would probably shorten it, and as best to my knowledge Roger was pitching this past season at 45. And whether he did or didnt do it, fact of the matter is he's still one of the greatest pitchers of all time. He did win Cy Young's both before and after (2004) he allegedly used steroids. So again, I will reserve my judgement one way or another until this whole thing plays out. And I know because of my admiration for Roger throughout his career, particularily since originally joining the Yankees back in '99, that some of you guys probably think that I'm being biased and oblivious, but I don't want to jump the gun on anything. I havent given my opinion one way or another, frankly because there isn't enough EVIDENCE (McNamee's allegations are just words, no evidence; same with Roger's denials) to prove or disprove he used steroids, and to just be fair about it.
  21. I feel mixed about the Celtics, as a New Yorker I'm supposed to not like them, and I dont, as a rival ot my Knicks, but even since their late season playoff run two seasons ago I can't help but watch and follow them from a distance. They've been playing GREAT basketball and and everyone should be willing to accept that.
  22. Yup, Bubba signed with the Reds prior to last season.
