  1. F Off the wood Tarzan Who said he was an excellent fielder? I refuse to call him a bad shortstop, but I sure as hell would never say he is an excellent fielder. I believe serviceable is the word I used
  2. I hate doing this because the season is so long and so many different things could happen but f*** it.... AL East Yankees Red Sox Tampa Bay Toronto Baltimore AL Central Tigers Guardians Twins Royals White Sox AL West Mariners Angels Rangers Oakland NL East Mets Phillies Braves Marlins Nats NL Central Cubs Brewers Cardinals Pirates Reds Astros NL West Diamondbacks Dodgers Rockies Padres Giants
  3. Bret Boone also signed a minor league deal with the Nats. I realize i'm like a week and a half behind, i'll get an update in soon
  4. Absolutely. There is no disagreeing that he's not the greatest shortstop. Still, I refuse to call him a bad shortstop. As for him moving to third instead of A-Rod, I disagree. A-Rod is more talented, has a better arm, and made the transition pretty seamlessly (I personally think he should have won at least 1 gold glove that Eric Chavez got in 04 and 05..in 06 he for whatever reason was HORRIBLE defensively). Also, Jeter is pretty particular about his defensive positions. Years ago, I dont remember where (I'm thinking SI), Jeet gave an interview saying he couldnt play the corners because of how close to the batter he would be and how quickly he would have to react, and wouldn't want to play the OF because he can't jusge fly balls well ( :? ..he sure can judge those pop-ups though). Despite those words so long ago, I agree that he probably would have made a nice center fielder. I also think that in the coming years, with enough hard work and practice, he would be a perfect candidate to slide over to 1B as his range decreases even more. Once Donnie trades in that Dodger Blue for his pinstripes again, I think he could make Jeter a serviceable first baseman. But this is all moot at this point. Fact of the matter is that Jeter is the shortstop for now, and I won't do much complaining about that. I think he's fine..
  5. Because Jeter is an excellent player and a WINNER. When people try to discredit his abilities and achievements with this ridiculous argument, it pinches a nerve. And despite what you guys like to say and whatever defensive numbers you throw out there, he's not a bad shortstop at all. He does have 2 gold gloves. Granted, the competition wasn't at it's peak and they came after A-Rod switched positions, but he did still beat out 13 other AL shortstops those 2 years...including Nomar/Cabrera, and Renteria. The only thing that Red Sox Nation's attempts to put Jeter down does, other than irritate me, is prove just how good Jeter is. To draw the kind of negative attention he gets speaks volumes. Bad players don't get booed. Well thats not true, but not by opposing fans...
  6. I really hate this argument. Drives me crazy when the Sox fans take it and run...
  7. Hopefully it falls through and they can relocate or something. I suppose the Miami Marlins isn't too bad though. Over the past few years I've always thought it would be better than the Florida marlins.
  8. As for me dropping out 2 or 3 seasons ago, whenever it was, I promise that would not be an issue this year. But honestly it's no big deal either way if I play or not.
  9. haha But c'mon seriously, is anyone going to start to vote?
  10. Are you serious? If someone tells you they are a doctor, you usually don't dispute that. Why would he look deeper into it? You can't blame a person for believing sonmbody when they tell you they have a PHD. Do you delve deep into your doctor's background?
  11. So when do the participants have to vote by? Do you guys have a draft date set already?
  12. haha I got an alert on my phone this morning with the story...Steinbrenner Field doesn't have the same ring as Legends Field. Interesting though. What is also interesting is that there will be a High School named after him next year. I wonder if it's an already-existing High School, or a new one being built. Im also curious as to who owns the facility. I believe the Yankees own the minor league complex AND Legends..eh I mean Steinbrenner Field, but with the way the city council was involved, I wonder if the Stadium is publicly owned. I'll have to look into that.... ....Girardi had a busy day yesterday going over all aspects of the team with Ca$h and others, today is just physicals and I guess a little bit of working out. Tomorrow pitcher and catcher workouts start for real..... ..my favorite time of the year!
  13. It's a beautiful day across the league.
  14. I wouldn't mind participating. Granted, in the past I wouldn't always be as consistent with it as I should, but a big part of that the leagues were never very competitive or serious. This looks to be both, so if I am involved, active participation wouldn't be a problem. Besides, what the hell else is there to do online anymore these days? Seems like I sit down in front of a computer, and unless I'm doing something for school I'm getting up 15-20 minutes later bored.
  15. I like the idea, but I think losing him for 3-4 weeks in June might hurt. I understand he can't quite get stretched properly in the bigs, but its still a concern of mine. He has an innings limit, and some of those innings will be used/wasted in Scranton (or Trenton or wherever).
  16. This certainly takes most of the juice out of it..
  17. With pitchers and catchers reporting on Thursday I figured I'd get this going beforehand. 69 players will be reporting to big-league camp. Yankees.com has listed all of the invitees uniform numbers, seemingly earlier than usual, which is nice (if you didn't know, I happen to be a uniform nut and uni #'s are somewhat of a big deal to me lol). LaTroy Hawkins took Clemenses 22, Phil Hughes switched from 65 to 34, Kennedy and Edwar Ramirez swapped 31 and 36, Bernie Castro (my guy that I'll be pulling for this spring) gets 66, Nick Green gets 12 (had 17 in his first Yankee stint), Chris Woodward takes 11, Lane gets 19, Scott Srickland (another guy I'm pulling hard for) gets 43, Chase Wright is no longer wearing 38 and will take 65 from Hughes. Well thats that...should be an interesting Spring in Tampa. This will be the first time a Spring Training at Legends Field will be headed by a manager not named Joe Torre. Joba is coming in preparing to start, but I have the feeling he may start the season in the pen. ...idk, speculate, discuss, argue, etc. Happy Bday to myself:D lol
  18. lol a little ahead of ourselves?
  19. All this does is make me happy Sorry guys
  20. Good stuff. where did you find these signings? Is there anyway I can get similar information for the signings of the other clubs?
  21. so what happened with this? Just went to the site and it's completely dead. Total ghost town. I thought it was a cool idea when you launched it..doesn't seem to have caught on though. I figured with the game tomorrow that SOMETHING would be going on there..
  22. hahaha awesome I went to school with a cousin of his for years, as well as like day camp years ago (like 1995ish) and the whole family is just a bunch of pricks. Humerous though..
  23. What would we call them? lol
