  1. So much for that. Pettitte came back, and Pettitte looked pretty good. And why exactly is it retarded, because it was Girardi and not Francona? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to go out and say it was the managerial move of the year or some s***, but it was a demonstration of some witty, progressive thinking outside of the box. It was an attempt to save some starting pitching, as well as some relief pitching. Now in what way is that retarded? Joba looked really good. Even after letting guys on base he was still able to keep it from progressing and slammed the door shut before they had a chance to peek their heads in. I doubt it will be a problem, especially considering he's gone a few days without pitching, but I guess I was somewhat weary when I saw him warming towards the end of the 6th about him going 2 tonight going into Boston this weekend where we might reallly end up using him a bit. Good effort by Andy to try to get through the 7th to keep that from happening. I guess 1 and a third is a little better than 2. Also noteworthy is how nice it has been to see Alberto's glove out at short...nasty. Just the little things he can do that go unrealized. I always take exception to constant knocks on Jeter's defense, because he really is serviceable and reliable; for the most part. But having an above-average defender out there is such a treat. On another note, I was surprised to see how good Nomo was. Until the 9th at least.
  2. seems that way. very clever thinking by Girardi.
  3. Any word on how come? Haven't made my way to a TV yet, busy finishing something up..
  4. Surprisingly, nobody is going to the DL. Shelley Duncan was optioned to Scranton to make room. Now if Damon plays left and Matsui DH's, or vice versa, there is no outfield depth on the bench and if an injury went down in the middle of a game, we would lose the DH. Idk about this one..
  5. So the Yanks call up Alberto Gonzalez tonight. Not sure if that means Jeter's going to the DL, or maybe perhaps Posada. However, Peter Abraham is reporting that Morgan Ensberg might actually be the one to hit the DL with a "mysterious knee injury." Here's the Yankee Lineup, with Kennedy on the hill. *sigh* J. Damon DH R. Cano 2B B. Abreu RF A. Rodriguez 3B H. Matsui LF J. Giambi 1B J. Molina C M. Cabrera CF A. Gonzalez SS
  6. Good thing nobody has bit on Bengie Molina as I've been agressively trying to move him. He's doing nasty! 2 homers last night, looks like hes starting to fill that clean-up spot vacated by the departure of Barry Bonds pretty well. I think I'll hang on to him for now
  7. I thought the pre-game ceremony was awesome today. I've been really sick the past few days, and glued to my bed. When I'm not throwing up I'm watching baseball, and it was a treat to see the kind of ceremony the Red Sox put together. One question though, what was the deal with the Stanley cup that the Bruin players brought out. Was that a replica or did they actually get the Ducks to lend it to them?
  8. Kilo, what is it gonna take to get Escobar from you? I know, it's my fault and everything, but I regret sending him over. With my lack of infield depth, his versatility is just what I need. I wouldn't expect you to do a Duncan/Escobar deal (which is essentially what we added to that original deal), and rather than continuously pester u with different proposals, I figure i'll just discuss it with you. There has to be something...
  9. God bless u jacko.....Holy s***
  10. 104° fever. Can't really get on him too much. Wang looked AWESOME today mixing those pitches up more.
  11. Imagine what this would have been like.... http://slidingintohome.blogspot.com/2008/04/1998-stadium-renovation-proposal.html The artist rendering of those 1998 Yankee Stadium renovation plans look AMAZING. Knowing this now (I knew nothing about it back then or prior to a few days ago), I'm disappointed Steinbrenner didn't jump at it. At that point though he wanted out of the South Bronx and to either be on the West side or in Jersey. This would have been AMAZING. Imagine having a "Yankee Village." http://bp1.blogger.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/R_fD_tG-pXI/AAAAAAAABYY/clUAQmu9cQ8/s400/ferrer_Yankee_3.bmp I didn't want to start a new thread for it so I just threw it in here. Figured it would be something to talk about.
  12. Hey Gom, dont rain on my parade bro lol...I sent both of you proposals. Gom, I know you've been wanting to trade for a while, I think I found a nice deal we can work with..get back at me..
  13. I realllly had my heart set on getting Theriot, understand though. I'll consider it, but I need all of my pitching right now with all of these injuries.
  14. OK so for about the last three weeks or so I've fallen behind a bit and haven't been too dilligent with keeping it up. Considering the season has started I wanted to get this update in now. Apologies for the delay eveyone. Also, there may be a small handful of lower level Minor League signings not included. As soon as I can identify them all and everything I'll add them. For the most part this is about 95% complete and accurate lol.
  15. Yeah loI did mean manager. Good point..
  16. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/03/30/relationship_would_be_valentine_gift/ That's where I read that the Sox were in negotions with the catcher from the same team, Hayato Doue. Just came across it again and figued I would share.
  17. Thanks I appreciate it. It's funny that a player involved in a trade has the option to veto it. Wierd. Thanks again..
  18. ORS, I accidentally voted against a trade I made. Will that have any effect on it's completion? If so, is there anything you (You are the commissioner right, I'm not mistaken am I?) can do? Thanks
  19. Hey, the Sox have been pretty exciting the past week or so, you guys have opened up already in Japan, played in the Coliseum, and gotten started. I was pumped for today,I need as much ******** to keep me going until tomorrow. lol
  20. I also read earlier that While Bob Shepard is out for health reasons until about June, Jeter is going to be introduced before at-bats by a recording of Shepard rather than longtime backup Jim Hall, who sounds eerily similar to Shepard. Jeter said that he had Bob Shepard make the recording for him so that he can always be introduced by him. I think that's pretty awesome. I hate it when Hall is in the pa booth, it's just not the same. Nobody knows truly how old Shepard is, but it's somewhere in the late '90s, so who knows how long he'll be around. It'll be cool to still have the voice of Yankee Stadium introducing the Yankee captain for the rest of his career. ....Running out of ********...I just want opening day to already. This is tormenting.
  21. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080331&content_id=2469353&vkey=news_nyy&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy&partnered=rss_nyy I think a nice little side-story the past few days is the issue of number 21 being used this year, and by whom. Ensberg obviously was issued the number at the start of Spring, first person to get it since O'Neill retired in '01, and just held onto it and kept his mouth shut until learning he would make the team when added to the 40 man about a week and a half ago. At which point he made public his feelings that he didn't think it was either his place, nor proper, to be the first person to wear "Paulie's number." He made an attempt to get 14 from Betemit with an offer or $5,000; which was declined. Eventually, after finishing spring games still with 21 he decided to take 11, which was worn by Woodward all spring until he was released last week off of a FANTASTIC spring (he later signed with Philly). Right after Ensberg abandons 21, Latroy Hawkins, who I had a hard enough time with being given 22 after he signed, decided to take 21 "in honor of Roberto Clemente." I admired Ensberg's actions in forfeiting wearing number 21 out of respect to a Yankee icon, and it baffles me that right away f***ing LaTroy awkins scoops it up. I liked Latroy a lot when he was in Minnesota, pulled for the Yankees to sign him when he was a free agent before signing with the Cubs, and have lost interest with since, as his performance has greatly declined as he's gone through Chicago, Baltimore, and San Fran. until having an alright year with Colorado. I didn't like him taking Roger's number, although I really couldn't be too upset given everything that's gone on this winter; but he said all the right things coming in and worked hard this spring. Funny how what's probably going to prove to be a waste of money and a bad signing has managed to anger me twice about his uniform number, and the season hasnt even started.
  22. Yeah, he did not look good at all. I was watching the game. Particularly funny to me was the jersey he was wearing looked like a 6X and he wore it like a nightgown, untucked, until the plate ump told him to fix it
  23. lol my bad I meant 700. Sorry
