  1. For your sake I hope they do. Well not really, but they're both good guys who have been great for the game. But Ortiz' problems don't just boil down to one bad year, they boil down to a bum wrist. And as for Lowell, he might not be cooked just yet, but he's boiling. It's only a matter of time.
  2. Because players age and injuries persist. I hope not, I don't really want him. I would prefer the Mets sign him. But if it means keeping him away from you guys I say go for it Cash! lol When does he hit the market? Maybe he can replace Mo
  3. I think we can still use another arm in that pen. I don't like Marte as the full-time setup guy, I like him better as a 7th inning/lefty specialist type. And we can't count on Veras and Bruney to be as solid as they've been. I would have to look at the list of available free agents to see who we could go out and sign, but I think the Yankees should reach out to Colorado about Huston Street. They would bite on Ian Kennedy (remember the proposed Kennedy for Tavares deal before Wily was non-tendered) and another prospect or something. We'd have to give up something, but it shouldn't be too steep a price. That's just a suggestion though, another solid arm and we're set for the season....unless we decide to go out and get Manny too, which would be even better
  4. Zac after seeing that video, and your other ones I have come to the conclusion that you have wayyy too much time on your hands lol I mean, c'mon you even recorded an AB against Ortiz from a video game dude lol. But seriously, the video was entertaining, although I think its the Red Sox fans who would enjoy it more than the Yankee fans. Not sure if that's supposed to be the point or not, but whatever. Watching RJ's arm fall off, literally, was hilarious.
  5. We can. I dont remember where i saw the article, but they broke it down. Right now, in addition to the sandwich picks, the Angels stand to get our 1st round pick (26), the Brewers get our 2nd, and Toronto gets our third. We can sign Manny and that would give the Dodgers our third rounder with Toronto being pushed back and getting the 4th round pick. There are a lot of flaws in the elias free agent ranking system, they need to fix it after an off-season like this. They're standing pat waiting for Pettitte to sign. If he doesn't it looks like the 5th spot will be up for grabs and will be filled by either Hughes, Aceves, Kennedy (god I hope not), etc. I think everyone still accepts Andy to sign...eventually. Aside from Pettitte I think Cash is really reluctant to spend any more money. Even if they were to get Manny they would need to trade someone to clear some room not only on the roster, but on the payroll as well.
  6. I made a thread yesterday for the Cash signing, as well. It's all gravy though, if a mod wants to combine them go for it, I dont think there's many, if any posts in that one anyway.
  7. That's probably what they would ho with unless the Wilpons give omar the green light to go ahead and spend some more money on a Randy Wold/Jon Garland type, which would allow Niese to get some more time fine-tuning his ability in Buffalo (that sounds weird). But I think this is likely how the rotation projects when the season starts. Hope they wrap it up with Lowe and get him signed before the Red Sox seriously jump in. He would be a good fit there, and he's better off pitching in the NL east than the AL East, that's for sure.
  8. Minor League deal worth about $700k. http://blogs.nypost.com/sports/st/archives/2008/12/yanks_sign_cash.html
  9. Don't lie, you know damn well you wouldn't have regretted signing Teixiera
  10. Jorge Sosa and Corey Patterson have signed with the Nats.
  11. I seriously think Washington will get in on him. The Dodgers are still lurking. And I'm not counting the Yankees out completely, despite what everyone else thinks.
  12. Go to the Teixeria thread in the Sox forum man, that's where it's all goin down. And yeah I agree with you, Jon "The Man" Heyman is the best in the business right now.
  13. f*** you. This guys didn't get s*** on me, all he did was drive me crazy which put me in a state of frenzy and rage that forced me to continuously let him bother me. He didbn't own me in any manner of debating the game of baseball by any means. Quit talking out of your ass, I've seen you comment it in multiple threads now and you buddy really need to chill with that s***. Did I feed into his ********? Yeah, did I let him get the best of me? No. And up until this point I enjoyed reading your posts, but now you should go f*** off troll.
  14. All you can do though is go to the government with your concerns. I agree with them. But these programs were created for these purposes, so that's what they'll be used for. Believe it or not, I do agree with you though, as I've stated several times throughout this discussion that I don't condone what they're doing, but I can't fault them either for being good business people. And like I said, it's a shame that their business success in regards to the Stadium has to come at our expense, but they're just doing a good job at what they do, unfortunately. At first, I took exception to most of your stances in this debate because it seemed like an anti-Yankee attack, but when you present it from an impartial standpoint, which most of you failed to do at first I see your points more clearly and can relate and agree with them easier. Keep that in mind.
  15. I might be a little lost about this whole thing but you, my friend are the idiot. First off, the city doesn't own the TEAM, just the Stadium. Steinbrenner isn't leasing the team you moron. And it's not Citibank Field, just CitiField. And UI didn't see you post the article, it was in another thread overloaded with so many conversations...thank you for posting it here and enlightening me, that's all I asked for. As for the wiki link, idk when it was updated or where the information came from. It lists the references though so go check it out if you want, I was just providing the information I came across. And the Yankees didn't ask for another $385 Mil, wasn't it around $250 Mil? While you may have some of the information correct, sometimes I think you pull parts of it out of your ass. This $1.5 bil your claiming the city has given to the Yankees is wrong. A combined $1.5 bil was given to the Yankees and Mets, not just the Yankees. And lets not overlook this from your article And as for these federal tax-exempt bonds, from what I've read about it and just saw in Paradisecity's link, they were created for just this purpose. How can you complain about someone using a tool for what it's intended for? While I still don't understand the whole situation fully, you guys have given me a better understanding of it, along with your insults and whatnot (which of course in turn made me reply with insults when you guys could have just been educating me on the manner, not being stuck-up BlowSox fans and s***ing on the yankee fan with every opportunity given). While I respect your points and what you're saying, you need to open up your mind and get all of your facts straight, because some of them are a little off. $1.5 Billion for one team, as you claim, is outrageous. It makes more sense that it was divided between both teams. You, however failed to mention that in your criticisms of Steinbrenner and the Yankees. You need to put the bias aside when analyzing facts of this nature, otherwise it just leads to you spreading false information. Thank you for the additional insight, I do get it a little more now. ...btw, her boobs don't seem too nice, but you cant really tell I suppose.
  16. How do i fail? You didn't even provide a link to a source to back up your information, for all I know you wrote that out of your ass. And how is it fair to call me a tool when the information isn't made very availabvle, I'm open to any accurate information anyone has to throw at me, I just haven't seen anything to prove factually that the city is paying for the ENTIRE Stadium. You say it, but you don't prove it. Prove it. Show me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Major_League_Baseball_stadiums#References There's the wiki link that states that Yankee Stadium is only 39% tax/government funded. Laugh out loud if you want, but at least they have sources and references to back it up. People who do the research from an impartial perspective and not with the bias of a Yankee-hating Red Sox fan. So please, until you show me a link to substantiate your claims you need to shut up.
  17. Sure it does
  18. Wikipedia. I still don't see where you get $1.5 billion from the CITY? Where do you even get $1.5 billion? I have one guy saying $1.5 billion of city money, which absurd, then I have another guy saying it's city and federal money, which I wasn't aware of. I mean $1.5 bil is ridiculous, that would mean that not a cernt came out of Steinbrenner's pocket for this Stadium, which is just absolutely false. Oh, and another fact that's being overlooked here is that the Yankees won't even be owning the Stadium, they'll just be playing there rent-free from the city. The city owns both the old and new Yankee Stadiums. It might not seem too relevant, but I don't think everyone is aware of that. It was being threatened for years while Steinbrenner was trying to get the city to fund a west-side Stadium for the Yankees in the '90s. There was a legitimate possibility of the Yankees heading over and joining the Jets and Giants in Jersey. The possibility was there. You're the dumbass...eh, "tool" rather. Because I wanna be cool and call people tools. Take your tool and go do something with it. http://rocky.digikey.com/weblib/Cooper%20Tools/Web%20Photo/AC16V.jpg ...don't mind me, I just find it the term "tool" when being used as an insult extremely annoying and completely stupid. It's not something you hear around here too much, but this kid I met this weekend drove me crazy with it calling all these people "tools." Really can't think of something better? Paradisecity says it is. Paradisecity says it does.
  19. Just saw the same report, Gom beat me too it. I'm a little surprised, I would figure Scott Boras would want to wait until Tex was locked up before starting the Manny negotiations, but if it was a mutual desire to get a deal done between Manny (as he's said on countless occasions in recent years he would like to play for the Yankees) and the Yanks then I can understand why negotiations moved forward so quickly. And s***, if the financials in the report are accurate, $25 mil every year until he's 39 isn't a bad deal for him, it's possible nobody would have outbid it anyway. As for Tex I'm getting the ever increasingly feeling that we're making a strong, late push for him, and I think it may be down to just the Red Sox, and Yankees, even though we don't know very many details about their interest and possible negotiations. Arte Moreno claims to be out of it because he doesn't want to get used to drive the price up, as it appears he has no interest in going back to the Angels. And Buster Olney claims that he spoke to "someone who talked to a member of the Nationals' front office" and that the Nationals absolutely do NOT expect to win the bidding. So it'll be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few days with Teixeira's decisions supposedly set to come before Christmas. I think it may be possible that the Yankees just go on a spending spree and because of the divide in the front office decide to just pursue both. I can see that coming from the top.
  20. Hopefully he does well in Washington, I've always enjoyed watching him pitch, he's so nasty. I remember a few years ago when he took a no-hitter into the 9th against us down in Baltimore....thankfully we broke it up, but it's just one of several impressive performances I remember seeing out of him. In other news, Yankee non-tender Chris Britton has signed with San Diego to compete for the 7th inning role. If given a real chance and not held down in AAA or on that shuttle/revolving door between Scranton and New York he could be a viable reliever. Nothing extraordinary, but he can do the job for a team like San Diego.
  21. Are you serious? The deadline to accept arbitration has passed, so if we did offer Bobby arbitration and he accepted we would have a place for him because neither Teixeira or Manny had been signed at that point, nor up to this point.
  22. Although very unlikely, I wouldn't be opposed to the Yankees finding some way to bring him back, with or without Manny.
  23. Thank you BudLight. Thats the only point I was trying to make. And see, even though it was the old ownership group the Red Sox are even guilty too, they wanted taxpayers to pay for roughly half of the stadium that was being considered. It's business, and that's just the way it is. The Yankees are the most profitable franchise in sports, and they're great at doing business, and you can't fault them there. Although it is a shame that their business success in relations to the new Stadium comes at the expense of the taxpayers who won't even be able to afford to go see a game there. I think you forgot to finish your statement there, but I think I get what you were trying to say, and simply but I didn't say anything positive about the Yankees using tax dollars to help fund the Stadium, I never condoned it or anything, I just said it was the norm and that it shouldn't come as a shock and really doesn't deserve the criticism of the Red Sox fans (whose franchise tried doing the same thing several years ago) that it's gotten. If they're gonna rip the Yankees, they need to rip the Nationals who's stadium was 100% publicly funded, the Twins who's new Stadium is 82% publicly funded, the Orioles because Camden Yards was 96% publicly funded, and so on; compared to the new Yankee Stadium's 39% public contribution.
  24. Exactly why it's a risk, and why i can understand the A's doing it. But hey maybe they'll find a taker.
