  1. Thanks alot SFoC. I can't see th grid clearly at all though. Is it just my computer or is everyone having difficulty seeing it? edit: Nevermind, i got it.
  2. Wow good stuff Lol at Clemens snorting like a bull when Donahue would rub the hot liniment on his balls
  3. Mike Sweeney signed a Minor League deal with the Mariners. Worth a shot. What a downward spiral his career has become though, sad story. It has to raise the question of PED's if you ask me.
  4. After seeing more and more of the details surface this really is beginning to make Joe look awful. But like I've said to others, I need to wait and read the book before forming a full opinion. It's not looking good so far though...
  5. Hahaha very true
  6. Look I agree that things should stay in the clubhouse, but this isn't the first book written by a coach/manager to air dirty laundry. and you act as if the entire book is a a slap in the face to the Yankees and his players, and all he's doing is talking s*** and airing dirty laundry. That's not the case. I still have the utmost respect for Torre despite all of this. Nobody's perfect, not even Torre lol. No matter what comes of this book, it can't take away 12 great years, 6 pennants, and 4 championships.
  7. Wow, you are too much my friend.
  8. You make me laugh. And you call me a fanboy and even had the nerve to say I hold Torre on a pedestal, look at you and your Varitek man-crush. That was a different era. Pitching was a lot different back then. Today organizations and pitching coaches mold their pitchers into what they feel they should be.
  9. I know this wasn't directed to me, but I absolutely feel that way, as I do every year.
  10. I don't think you got my point.
  11. I think you guys are being ridiculous. He's not the first to write a book about hsi time with a ballclub and provide an inside perspective about what goes on behind closed doors. I've read several of them. Like bsn07 said, the book is 500+ pages long, you really think the entire thing is about the PLAYERS calling A-Rod "A-Fraud and his distain towards the Steinbrenners? The publisher leaked these particular aspects of the book to the media so it would cause all this commotion and sell books. You don't think Torre is forever appreciative to George for the chance he got to manage the club, and the subsequent success he achieved? He's going to the Hall of Fame because of his time as Yankee manager. I'm sure there's as much, probably more positive things about his players in the book than there are negative. It can't all be positive because nobody wants to read a book where he's just kissing everyone's ass. He and Verducci kept it real, Verducci did a lot of research and talked to a lot of people and they came up with what looks to be a pretty good book. Lets read the f***ing book before we call it classless and disrespectful. Based on your responses, the publishers accomplished what they set out to do, cause a stir, and in turn sell more books. Good job guys!
  12. Uh oh wait a minute. ******** ALERT!!!!! So from what I've gathered from these 3 posts; you played two seasons with the Tourists, you served in the Marines from 1995-1999 AFTER your career ended, and you claimed to have played in the Colorado organization. But there are some inconsistencies there. Asheville didn't become a Rockies affiliate until 1994. You claimed you played two seasons prior to enlisting in 1995. After doing some simple math calculations in my head, I don't see hoy you did both, played for the Tourists and joined the Marines. I'm sure you'll come up with a ******** explanation though...
  13. So wait are you a cop or a security guard? I'd like you a lot better if you were a security guard. Btw, reading these last few pages has my head spinning. way to go guys. It's nice to see a multi-page beef that doesn't include me If you did in fact play pro ball, there's nothing bad about not making it further than you supposedly did. I'm not going to sit here and call you a liar, but I'm not going to take your word for it 100%. I Baseball Cube'd every catcher who played in Asheville since they became a Rockies affiliate and saw nobody from Massachusetts, but it is possible I overlooked a name or 2. Anyway, back to my point. Only a small percentage of boys who dream about playing pro ball get the chance to, and an even smaller percentage of them make it to the bigs for even a cup of coffee, let alone a long, productive, profitable career. Anyone who did in fact play pro ball has my respect, regardless of how high they made it. And while I respect your accomplishments, the behavior you've displayed here isn't worthy of my respect, as a person. Get your s*** together, because if you do possess all this knowledge and experience you claim you could definitely be a strong contributor to this community.
  14. Apparently it's $6 Mil guaranteed, with the possibility of earning another $6 mil thorough incentives. Should be announced soon. I'll take it.
  15. While I respect your accomplishment, I find your matter-of-fact ego disgusting. Just the way you answer a question rubs me the wrong way......next. I was impressed, so I asked what otganization, I wasn't questioning your claim. I'm more than familiar with what a scout does, sport! Is that so? of course he doesn't want to take backup money, I was referring to THEM not wanting to pay HIM the money he's asking just to be a backup. I think the Rays are set behind the plate. Between Navarro, Hernandez (not an overwhelmongly talented guy, but I've always liked him sicne seeing him play here in the Yankee system), and Riggans (nice guy...talked to him a bit when he was playing in the NY-Penn League briefly in 2007 while I was interning with the Rays affiliate).
  16. That is pretty cool
  17. Yeah but you were $2 million off so how do you like that Mr. "I know more about baseball than you" Seriously, I hadn't even seen that post prior to seeing your last post. I didn't post that link to get in an argument with you, I was passing along a link I came across.
  18. Navarro, at this stage in his career is more valuable than Tek at his stage. Yeah, Tex can call a game and handle a pitching staff, but all of his skills are diminishing, on both sides of the ball. Navarro can call a good game, is familiar with that young staff, and would probably be more productive with the bat. Why would the Rays spend to money on an old, declining catcher when they have a perfectly capable young one. Your such a fanboy. I can't help but laugh at the fact that you think you know more about the game than anyone here
  19. Absolutely. Navarro is a real solid guy behind the plate. Imagine we never traded him for f***ing RJ.
  20. So I guess it's a 1 year guaranteed offer worth $5 mil, with a club option for 2010 also worth $5 mil. Tek also has a player option for 2010 worth $3 mil. There is a deadline on this offer. http://blogs.weei.com/robbradford/2009/01/25/deadline-for-varitek/
