  1. I think I'm much more attractive than that guy. I just find it impossible that tax dollars are covering every cent of this ballpark. But you know, you guys seem to understand this more than I do. Frankly I havent't followed the financing of this project very much. All I know is that there's a new beautiful Stadium in the Bronx, that was being billed as 100% privately financed during the projects inception. It's a shame that so much tax money is being used, but it's not out of the norm so I really can't get all worked up. maybe if I was a city taxpayer I would feel differently, sure. But None of you, with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 are city taxpayers either, and there's no reason for you guys to get your panties in a twist over it.
  2. Ken Rosenthal reprots that the A's have placed Bobby Crosby on outright waivers in hopes of a team taking the $5.7 mil he's owed this season off their hands. So any team in need of a shortstop willing to take a risk might have to consider this.
  3. Oh shut up ORS. Nowhere did I say it wasn't bad that tax dollars are being used and nowehre did I agree with it. I simply stated that tax dollars aren't being used to cover the majority of the Stadium and that most new parks are primarily financed by tax dollars. Is it disgusting that the city has all of these other issues that the money could be spent on, yeah. But take it up with the city officials, not me. It's business, it's the way it goes. None of the bashing that you Red Sox fans do is gonna change it. Where was the uproar when all the other Stadiums were using tax dollars? It's not about me agreeing with taxpayers funding the Stadium, it's about me disagreeing with the Red Sox fan's perception of the Steinbrenner family. You guys would make him out to be the f***ing anti-christ if you could. You ignore what he's done for the game, the yankees, and the city of New York. Sure, he has his faults, and plenty of them, but he'll likely be inducted into the HOF for his many contributions over the years to the players, fans, and owners alike, not to mention the game as a whole. You may think it's me being ridiculous, which may to true to an extent, but nowhere near as ridiculous as some of you guys. And what I really don't understand is why you guys care. You don't give a f*** about the city of New York, it's people who you constantly claim to despise, or it's well-being. It's not coming out of your pocket so the only reason for the comments is hatred towards Steinbrenner, which I guess i understandable considering up until recently he's been getting thew best of you guys for years. And there is no reason to lock the thread if we can STAY ON POINT, which despite my back and forth with Zac I've tried to do by diverting the attention back to Tex or Manny. So go elsewhere with that ********.
  4. You guys have me wrong here, I never said it was good, I never said I agree with it. all I said is that in this day in age taxpayers fund most, if not all new Stadiums in some capacity. Frankly there are less tax dollars building this Stadium than almost any other new Stadium in recent memory. I'm not lying to cover up s***, I'm just posting facts to the extent that I know them. And where the f*** do you get $1.5 Billion from? First, the Stadium is only costing $1.3 Billion, and the Steinbrenner family is paying for most of it. Are you a resident of the city of New York? If not there is no WE about it. I myself don't live in the city so not a dollar of my tax dollars is going to these Stadiums. And as i said, is it right that the city's taxpayers are partially funding this, no. But be real, the taxpayers aren't footing the entire $1.3 Billion dollar bill, and over the months that's the picture you've painted.
  5. Our old buddy Aaron Boone signs with the Astros for $750,000. He can provide some versatile infield depth off the bench and maybe platoon with Geoff Blum at third. Your old buddy Trot Nixon inked a Minor League deal with Milwaukee.
  6. $200 Million in taxpayer dollars It's really not that big a deal. This was all agreed upon prior to breaking ground on the new stadium. Because the Yankees were privately financing it the city agreed to contribute for improving infrastructure in the area in and around the stadium. They still need to do some work with the Subway platforms and build the Metro-north station (I don't even know if they've started it. Hopefully it's done in time for the start of the season). While we don't quite know where the tax dollars are being used, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. And the Steinbrenner's are still spending a large fortune on this ballpark. SO ENOUGH WITHE THE TAX DEBATE
  7. Here's a good shot of them in the new Stadium's clubhouse, with their lockers side by side. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/SUrgIx6nQvI/AAAAAAAAEOs/AhYlhazaNeQ/s1600/r1733015701.jpg Here's them on the field at the new Stadium together. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/SUrjvCCkpII/AAAAAAAAEPE/-V-mL0_ZXlg/s1600/c206ff7b471738b6b3990b61843a1ec5-getty-84013316nl022_new_york_yank.jpg And on a somewhat unrelated note, here's the first shots I've seen of the new Stadium at night with all the lights on. I love the neon blue signs and how they light up the Stadium. The same color lighting is found above all of the lockers in the home clubhouse which looks pretty interesting. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/SUsU7hlf4wI/AAAAAAAAEPk/7qtwcAuVzbk/s400/3628857.JPG
  8. I love how he can't make a post without referring to me in it (I got very uncomfortable when I saw him refer to me by my actual initials. *gasp*). Not only that, apparently he's incapable of posting outside of this thread. And spelling is evidently a weak-point. Anyways, enough with that nonsense. It appears that it's either the Angels or Nats who are going to end up with Teixeira, as I seriously doubt Cashman is going to outbid either of their offers. If it's the Angels we have all the leverage with Manny. It would just be us and the Dodgers. If it's Washington, which it very well may be, then the Manny thing becomes tricky and we could end up making a mess for ourselves. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.
  9. No I guess I didn't really make it known I was being sarcastic as well. I was awake 5 minutes before making that post. lol
  10. If they do its not for Tex. Reports state that we haven't even made an offer. But if Tex does end up in Boston sometime soon I dont think it would be long until we sign manny. And yeah you're right, the Anegsl would be aggressive too, but I think the yankees outbid them unless they're willing to go to 4 years.
  11. No way to disagree with you there. All I can say in defense of Cashman is that while he did gain increased control when he signed his new contract, there's still so many people making decisions above him that if they say go out and get A.J. Burnett he has to do it. everybody was involved with these discussions; Hal, Felix Lopez (husband of a Steinbrenner daughter, and a vice president in the organization), Levine, even George to an extent. Cashman, while for the most part makes a lot of the baseball decisions still has to take orders. I think if the choice was completely his there is no way he spends $85 Mil on a guy like Burnett.
  12. Yeah I forgot to mention that, but Karen Burnett is HOT!
  13. I'm done with his clown. Have fun with photoshop buddy. Back to the topic at hand, Ken Davidoff says he thinks there is a 20% chance Manny signs witht he yankees, but I don't take anything he says very seriously. I think if Tex ends up in Boston then Manny is a Yankee 100%. If not, I put it at 60-70%
  14. He still looked scruffy though. And he doesn't seem like much of a talker hopefully he can handle the media here. One thing is for sure, he better f***ing stay healthy otherwise things are gonna go sour for him here.
  15. I meant if we had Manny. Oh yeah, that's exactly what this retard is doing. f*** you, straight up. You're the one crying about how we shouldn't let the Sox fans sit back and enjoy watching two yankee fans rip into each other (almost an exact quote). So i don't want to hear that s*** anymore. And what relevance does Posada's rehab and Damon's TYIB award have in this thread?
  16. Works for me.
  17. lol Yeah I knew it was Thursday. Except I was living my entire day yesterday thinking it was Thursday yesterday just had a Thursday feel I guess lol. I was very relieved when i realized at around 11 last night that it was only Wednesday haha.
  18. Well that means Yomiuri is gonna get involved. No way they let a star Major league pitcher go to their arch-rivals uncontested.
  19. Even if we were to call a truce they still have Gom and Jacko going at it every which way lol, so it really doesn't make a difference. If you chill with the silly willy and diarrhea font I don't see why we can't put this little squabble behind us though. We do have to stick together here on enemy territory.
  20. I do understand what Manny is, and I've acknowledged it plenty, both before and after you joined the site. But I also have to recognize something else that Manny is, and that's an incredible hitter. Without Manny you can argue that the Sox are still hearing chants of 1918 when they play in New York. When you have the kind of leadership on this team that you do, where players are very vocal with each other about how to act and what not to do, I really think Manny can come in motivated and produce. What he does before and after games I don't give a s*** about, as long as he's on the field, putting up his usual Manny numbers. I don't understand how anybody could not want Manny. You have to put his BS to the side and recognize the talent he has. Plus he's a local talent, which is always nice to see And is it really that difficult to type Peavy?
  21. The press conference was scheduled for today at 1....but nothing. Anyone know whats going on with that? Why did it not occur and when is it being rescheduled for?
  22. Got me on that one. And you're right, i am letting him get to me and getting into ridiculous arguments with him, but you of all people know how I can be when someone tweaks me But this clown, with his s***-brown font and unreadable writing just rubs me the wrong way (especially when he calls me silly willy).
  23. Look at this idiotic suggestion- Why trade the farm for a big bat when we can just sign one? Makes no sense when you have one of the best right handed hitters in the history of the game on the open market. I dont get it.
  24. Wait how is he blasting me to bits? I own this kid. All of his points are based on opinion and are poorly thought out. To say he is "blasting me to bits" is humerous. Read the thread. He points to Adam LaRoche as being able to help Cano, doesn't say how or why, I point out that LaRoche has ADD and he comes out with a joke to make it seem like he knows what he's talking about. He doesn't. Just because we've had our squabbles in the past is no excuse to give this mental-midget the upper hand in a battle he is so clearly losing. LAROCHE DOESNT TAKE MEDS. http://beta.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=2446449
  25. Me too. It seems a little sketchy, but hopefully this is all true and accurate.
