  1. Idk today I heard that he's said he's excited about the opportunity.
  2. I definitely meant to write chunk (note the i and u are right next to each other) hahah...wow that's too funny. It's not a done deal, if the Yankees were willing to absorb all of Cameron's deal it would be a done deal, Melky for Cameron straight up. The Yankees have asked for the Brewers to pick up some of Cam's salary, the Brewers in return have asked for a pitcher. Apparently Igawa has been mentioned. Also, the Yankees have interest in expanding it to include Bill Hall. As for your criticisms Kilo, I'm not making the s*** up I'm just passing along the information. It would be mroe than just Melky/Igawa for Cam/Hall, there would be financial considerations in place as well as probably another prospect going Milwaukee way. Cameron did serve a suspension for a banned substance, not necessarily an anabolic steroid. And that's a big part of the reason I dislike him, as I've stated all throughout this thread. But he can play defense, that's for sure. As for Hall, we wouldn't be counting on him in the capacity that Milwaukee did, and coming off the bench with his defensive versatility he would be a good fit. He can give us some pop off of the bench too.
  3. Tyler Kepner reports the Brewers have been asking about Igawa. MAKE THIS DEAL CA$H, Bill hall or not. MAKE THIS MOTHERf***ING DEAL. If it means ridding ourselves of Igawa I'm all for it. s***, I'd even be willing to eat a chink of his salary if they wanna throw Hall in as well. But the deal seems more and more unlikely to happen. I've ben saying all day I hope this deal falls through, but god would I love to move Igawa, as long as those suckers would be willing to take him.
  4. Been hiding under a rock? Bavasi was fired mid-season last year and they just hired Jack Zduriencik as their new GM this offseason, as well as Don Wakamatsu to manage the team. As for Manny being a Met...it just won't happen. I think he would be a good fit there, but they don't have any interest it seems.
  5. Doug Waechter, a really great guy who was very nice to me during all of my interaction with him while he was with the Hudson Valley Renegades (Rays' NY-Penn League affiliate) in 2007 while I was interning there has signed with the Royals. Brian Gordon and Joe Torres sign with Texas. The Blue Jays sign Matt Clement to a minor league deal, Ramon Vazquez is close to a 2 year, $4Mil deal with Pittsburgh, and theres a ton of Rule 5 news that probably deserves it's own thread.
  6. We could use a lefty much more considering the losses of Abreu and Giambi. That's what I like to hear. The only way I'm satsfied with a Cameron deal is if we get Bill Hall too. He would be a very useful player on our bench. He can play all infield positions except first, and can play the OF. Versatility is a huge underrated, undervalued attribute. If we could get Cameron and Hall for Melky, Kennedy, and another lower-tier prospect, or just eat all of Cameron's salary I'd be all for that. As much as I don't like Cameron he could be a good stopgap until A-Jax is ready.
  7. A horrible idea? You're the one blaming CC's postseason failure on the fact that he pitched so many innings during the regular season. This would solve that problem. I mean I see your point, but idk I think it could work. It's so unlikely though I suppose we shouldn't even bother discussing it.
  8. That's because you guys have a center fielder. Do you feel better abiout yourself because we're pursuing a guy who "the Sox wouldn't be interested in?"
  9. Girardi is good at mixing and matching and knowing what buttons to push and when to give guys rest, much like Torre was. If Posada needs to DH then Manny can spell Damon in left a few days. Or Posada can get a first baseman's glove and do some work there. From what I hear though as Posada has started his throwing program, he should be fine behind the plate this year. Hopefully.
  10. You don't think that would be a good idea? That would fit all these overpaid bums into the rotation and effectively limit innings on multiple guys with workload concerns. I think it should at least be considered if they sign all these guys.
  11. It's not done, it's close. And we would be sending a pitcher back as well, but who depends on how much salary they want to eat of Cameron's. I really do NOT like this deal. I would have rather signed Griffey or made a run at Ichiro. I HATE Kameron. I hope this falls through at the last second. How do you figure? This doesn't change the numbers game one bit if we move Melky in this deal. Manny could still DH if another OFer is moved. I'm hoping that's the case, because Swisher and Cameron replacing Giambi and Abreu offensively just does NOT cut it. And if this does go through, you guys know how I feel about Melky, hopefully he gets a fair shot out there and excels. I'll be pulling for him.
  12. I'm not so sure. I hope so but this deal came about so quickly who knows. It's not like he really has a choice but hopefully they reached out to him and he's cool with it. I was expecting that to be one of the questions asked of Omar last night during the press conference. yesssir
  13. Not yet. Talks have died down, who knows if they'll be revived or not. I thin he would be a good fit there though.
  14. Kyle Farnsworth to KC According to Steve "I used to be a GM" Phillips.....god I can't stand that guy. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3761746&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines
  15. They just need to add to that rotation so they can have some of those well-pitched games.
  16. I would have rather they worked out a deal for Street, but another real solid deal for Omar. I heard it rumored all afternoon but was shocked when it officially went down as I'm laying in bed at midnight and I hear about a press conference to announce the acquisition of JJ Putz on SNY. s*** was crazy, I was shocked.
  17. It would be nice to have another lefty, and a YANKEE in Pettitte though. I know there's no room for sentimentality right now after we just missed the playoffs, but I think at the right price (not $16 Mil) Andy could be a dependable part of our rotation. If we pass on giving Burnett this ridiculous contract and let Lowe go elsewhere and just stick with Sheets and Andy i think we'll be fine. It's not like they haven't taken this approach since though. Look at 2005, we were supposed to have the best team ever, we were supposed to rival Murderer's Row, not just offensively but our pitching staff too. We just added Johnson, Jaret Wright (another bum coming off a career year, much like Burnett. Although to be fair Burnett has had a better career than Wright did to that point), and Pavano, not to mention we already had Mussina and Kevin Brown (who didn't project to be as awful as he was). Instead we ended the year with Aaron Small, Shawn Chacon, and Chien-Ming Wang in making up 3/5 of our rotation. I see a very similar scenario occurring if we invest all of this money into Burnett, who's never made every start in a season except for last year which was his walk year, and Lowe who is aging. I'm just verrrrry weary of this whole situation. And I think my feelings are very justified based on what we've had to endure over the last 5 years or so.
  18. Do you think the Yankees would consider the idea of a 6 man rotation to limit the innings on not only CC but Joba and others as well? I'm assuming we bring back Andy and sign 2 of Burnett, Lowe, and Sheets. If that's the case it's either 6 man rotation or move Joba back to the pen, which might be a good idea as well. Either would work, IMO.
  19. So do you not want Pettitte back, or would you prefer move Joba to the pen? If we sign both we're committing approximately $320 Million to 3 pitchers this offseason who all have an issue or concern of some sort. And we wonder why everyone in the country hates us. I still say let Burnett go rot in Atlanta, let Lowe go back to Boston or Philly or wherever, maybe the Mets can get him, they could use him. Give me Sheets and Andy. That won't happen though, it appears very likely Burnett will be signed. In that case I hope we pass on Lowe and sign Sheets, and no matter what sign Andy. If we bring Andy back and don't get Sheets or Lowe we have a rotation of CC, Wang, Burnett, Joba, Andy (not necessarily in that order). If we do get Sheets/Lowe then a lot of people seem to think it would be a good idea to move Joba back to the pen. Frankly I'm not opposed to that idea. I think we have a much better staff all around with Joba setting up and CC, Wang, Burnett, Andy, and Sheets (or Lowe, I prefer Sheets) rounding out the rotation. We'll see what happens though. I second that. Hopefully we pass on him and he goes back to Boston.
  20. To waive his no-trade to come to NY he would require his contract to be restructured or renegotiated. At least that was the word back when the Yankees were still in contention. Don't get me wrong I love Peavy. I like him more than any of the guys on the market right now. But I fear he's one of those pitchers that wouldn't do well in the AL or in NY. I love to watch him pitch though.
  21. Better not trade Hughes for another grossly overpaid pitcher who really doesn't want to be here anyway! I REFUSE to give up on Hughes just yet!
  22. All I know is they have the offer on the table. If he were to accept it I doubt they turn around and say "on second thought that's a lot of money." We'll see though. What I do know is that that franchise needs to make a splash and do something. Aside from maybe 2006 when they had Soriano it's just like watching the Expos....just not in that cave called Olympic Stadium...and in different unifiorms. I think Teixeira, being a local product and a real good player would be just what that franchise needs to get on it's feet for the long term. He would sell jerseys, bring in revenue that would hopefully go back into the team and make them more competitive in the coming years. We'll see though.
  23. It's only a 3 (possibly 4) year deal though, it's not like he's getting old or anything. And you can't blame ghim for being good when he was young and breaking in so early. Sure he's lost some velocity, but I think he'll continue to be one of the best few closers in the game. He's a smart pitcher, the addition of the changeup to his arsenal has been good. He's got that good curveball, and the dude knows how to pitch. I would trust him in the 9th inning with a lead in a big game. He blew 7 saves last year, but he nailed down 62. That's sounds like a pretty good ratio to me. And quite frankly, I'm so glad he's out of the AL. Jose Arredando doesn't scare me nearly as much as K-rod when trying to mount a 9th inning rally. He's a big part of what made the Angels great.
  24. Word. Give me Sheets and Pettitte and I'll be satisfied with the rotation. There is absolutely no reason to give Lowe and Burnett the dollars they're asking for in this market.
  25. I agree, which is why I really hope we don't grossly overpay him as it seems we may. I'm not familiar with UZR, break it down for me? And I respect your opinion, but I really think A-Rod is at least above-average. If not for Eric Chavez he would have 2 gold gloves as a third baseman. For someone who's only played the position for 5 years of his life I think he's done a terrific job.
