  1. by the way, thats exactly the response i expected from an ignorant Red Sox fan
  2. id bet you've never even heard Bernie...and when Arroyo gets traded to Florida for Burnett are you guys still gonna act as if hes the next Sinatra?
  3. exactly...remember the last series where you guys took 3 of 4 from us...it was like the World Series celebration.
  4. As i Knicks fan i must say that last year i was paying more attention to the Celtics than the Knicks, the Walker trade was magnificant, especially since they got GP right back. Definately an exciting team next year and should look good for years to come. But i still gotta go with my Knicks...who yes, i am man enough to admit, absolutely suck.
  5. i wonder how this will effect Tadahito Iguchi, having a fellow countryman on your team in a strange ew place where it is hard to communicate with others is always a plus for Japanese players and could have an impact on their success, ive been saying for a few years now that the Yanks should get another Gaijin in there to add to hideki's comfort situation. Hes produced great the last 2 years, i wonder what he would be like with an increased comfort level..the closest thing he had to a japaneseman was Alfonsio Soriano, who played a season in japan and speaks fluent Japanese, but as we all know he is now in Texas. Just an interesting point i wanted to make
  6. word has it that the White Sox will ship him to Arizona before the 10 day period is up...if they dont and he makes it to the waiver wire or free agency i think that the Yanks (or even the Sox) need to strongly consider picking him up.
  7. i was wondering where he was, havent heard much of him since his departure to Colorado.
  8. i think if you look at the list from 1903 on the Yanks are atop, if not 2nd. But no doubt the Giants are a top tier franchise, mostly from when they were here in NY, where their loss (along with that of the Dodgers) is still mourned by many.
  9. hes been pretty bad this year though, up and down between Washington and New Orleans
  10. notice how all the Red Sox fans just shut up about Leiter after the win...whose laughin now??
  11. exactly what ive been trying to get across to people forever
  12. you guys cant beat the AL East either this year so i would chill with that for a while until you prove you can beat the division
  13. yea tell me about it what a steal at 26, and to think the diamondbacks were considering him and Justin Upton and went with Upton, thats how highly touted he was. Also a Yankee scout was fired for passing up on him and taking a high school SS...which is the last thing we need right now seeing as how we got a SS...a very good one. Also Omar Minaya denied to comment on why the Mets passed up on him....too bad, this kid should be pitching in his hometown. The yankees kinda redeemed themselves by drafting that Cox kid who was closing for Texas, i believe they signed him and according to scouts he has the potential to be a chad cordero, someone who gets called up to the bigs the year he was drafted, much like craig hansen will.
  14. you mean lets hope hes half as good as bernie?...Bernie is a great gutarist who plays very good classical music, something hard to appreciate by many, but dont throw shots at probably the nicest guy on the Yankees just because youre a Sox fan, im not gonna rip Arroyo because i havent heard him yet and it would be disrespectful, but dont rip bernie because youre a sox fan, wanna rip him on the field, thats fair game but its not fair to rip his musical talents
  15. the first pic is the entrance to the "plaza"..much like with the original model (1923-1973) the second is the ariel showing where the new stadium will be compared to the current location of the current stadium, as well as what the current stadium will look like when it is torn down, if you have ever been to Yankee Stadium, beyond the outfield wall (of the current stadium) is where all the shops, stores (such as Stan the Mans), Bowling Alley, Sports Bar, Twins Fastfood, Vinny Milanos T-Shirt Table, etc, are located as well as the subway to give you a better visualization. Im guessing the stores will remain where they are considering the close proximity to the current stadium and subway is already passing by the new stadium, but infrastructure improvements will be made. The third picture is from behind home plate, if you look in dead center field where the "black seats" are located now you will see a reflective glass which will serve as the batters eye and behind that glass is the new Yankee Club/Restuarant. Right in front of the glass will be Monument Park, which will actually be moved from the current stadium to the new stadium, it will be in center field rather than in left like it is now. The fourth is of the reflective glass and monument park the fifth compares the concoarse and deck sizes of the current stadium and the new stadium which should add comfortable conditions.
  16. here are some pics...i hope i did this right
  17. good for Kenny...too bad there wont be any jail time...here in NY we still hate kenny for how much he sucked back in the 90s for us
  18. o yea this is our way of keeping up to the almighty red sox...btw Tex... just out of curiosity, how many times have you been to Fenway livin down there in Texas? Do you know from experience that it is better, have you been to both to compare? (i have and very much enjoyed Fenway when i was there) 'nother question Tex, how is it that you came to be a Sox fan especially since you live so far away from Boston....if ya ask me YOU are the definition of frontrunner....i bet that if the nation wasnt on the Red Sox sympathy train that they been ridin the last 3 years that made it cool to root for the Sox that you wouldnt be a Sox fan, i bet if we were having this discussion in 2000 your name would be "Yanks fan in Tex", or in winter of '02 it would be "Halo fan in Tex", or maybe if we were havin this discussion in the 90's it would be "Braves fan in Tex"....so please enlighten me on how you became a fan of the DEFENDING CHAMPS and not of the 3rd place Rangers (2nd this year) or Wild Card/Never won a championship Astros..im very interested in knowing.
  19. sorry didnt see you post this
  20. didnt he wear 29 when he first came to the Sox because John Burkett had 19 at the time?
  21. the $800 Million Stadium will resemble the older model on the outside, with the concoarse being a gate of sorts to the plaza area where the gates will be. The inside will be similar to the surrent stadium while also being much different. The inside will go back to having the facade going around the entire stadium (1923-1973) rather than having it just around the outfield (1976-2008). The stadium would be one building rather than the format now where the bleacher section is a complete and seperate structure in its own. As Riverside said it will be located on the next block of 161st and River Ave. I will try to get some pics for you guys as the stadium is a very unique structure. What they will do with the old stadium is knock down most of the stadium structure (with the exception of the lower lever to about the foul poles) and use the field for youth recreation. The rest of the stadium area (i.e structure, parking lots, Rupert place, etc..) will be the new site of Macombs Dam Paek (where the new stadium will be built). There are already basketball courts where Yankee Stadium is now for rec. purposes, but they will add a soccer field, more basketball courts, and a few little league size fields, as well as other luxuries. This Stadium will be huge for the re-development of the South Bronx, as in the same area as part of the stadium plan all sorts of things will be added, including a High School specializing in sports professions. The Stadium will be great for the Yankees and the city of New York as well as the bourough of the Bronx, though it will be a shame to have the very historical Yankee Stadium torn down, it will be a pleasure to have the opprotunity to actually play on that sacred field later on. Also the many new luxuries of the new stadium will enhance the atmosphere of going to a game.
  22. Sheff is mad because he would not play with this contract for any team except the Yankees, where he isnt being payed as much as the other stars ona a yearly basis and has a lot of deffered money. (and remember he tried to re-negotiate his contarct in the spring) This trade is obviously not going to go down, btu IF it did i would be heavily against it, because Sheff is the heart of our offense. Nobody else has been as consistant this year as G-man and Cameron isnt half the player Sheffield is. Besides, who would play right field? (Probably Encarnacion if that trade went through) Not Sierra, he cant play the outfield on a daily basis anymore, and is our key guy off the bench, and it definately wouldnt be Bernie, otherwise he would play center and we wouldnt be having any of these conversations ...looks like age has finally caught up to Bernie on the defensive front. As for the Quantrill/Encarnacion trade...this would be great for the Yankees, for several reasons. 1) we have too many relievers, and when Felix Rodriguez comes back that will just add to the numbers..its bad enough the Yanks insist on calling up Scott Proctor and Jason Anderson for now. 2) he could take over the vacant outfield role by playing left, and Matsui moving back to CF, where he has played for 10 years in Japan (actually 8, he was a RF his first 2 years) and played a little bit the past 2 years with the bombers. Or if the Yanks get another outfielder (i.e. Kotsay, Griffey, Cameron, Preston Wilson, Randy Winn, etc..) he could take over on the bench for Tony Womack, who is no-doubt on his way out, as soon as we solve this outfield problem. The Yanks wont be undergoing a rapid facelift anytime soon, not with Gene Michael back in charge. "He is the voice of rationality in this organization" -Peter Gammons, and i couldnt have said it better. He is responsible for building the core of the championship teams of the 90's and has the philosophy that involves patience and development, so dont look for too many big trades, except the outfield trade. Guys, remember, its only the end of June and we're not that far out...you guys were struggling similar to this last year and turned it around, look for the same from us...this race is not over by a longshot
  23. i dont see why all of you think the Yanks are done (most of you i should say). I think they can, and will come back. And im not just talking a comeback for the wild card, im talking the division. face it, the Sox cant play great ball ALL SEASON, and the O's are headed south for the summer..nowhere for the Yankees to go but up, and lets not forget how far you guys were back last August, but still made a push for the division (eventually being stuck with the wild card again, but a pretty good push i must say)...we have more time and less of a deficit, this season is far from over as is this division race...the Empire WILL Strike Back.
  24. so this explains why i couldnt return it to what it was, thanks for clearing that up
  25. i do agree that all this Jeter stuff is gettin somewhat irritating, this is a baseball board, not a place to discuss asses and suff
