Irish Jay's Achievements

  1. Roger Clemens for 5 straigh seasons was fat, overweight and unproductive. People blaming Duquette for letting him walk just are not paying much attention to the facts.
  2. Why has the vast majority of Red Sox Nation forgotten about the lenghthy contributions Dan Duquette made to the World Series team of 2004 ?? The core of that team were guys Duquette brought in. Few would argue that the Sox could have won a world series without the likes of Derek Lowe, Pedro, Manny, Varitek and Johnny Damon. However all you here about is how Epstein finally got the team over the hump. Did Epstein make some good pickups? Sure. Schilling was a great asset to the team and trading Nomar was a great plus. However due to the media manipulation and the way the majority of the population think as though they are told to, most people HATE Duquette for no reason at all. Let's remember Duquette paved the way for the Red Sox by firing the worst manager to ever coach the Red Sox Jimy Williams!! Think about the trade Duquette made. Heathcliffe Slocumb for Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek!!! That may have gone down as one of the best trades in the last two decades. Lowe and Varitek were huge parts to the Word series team yet all we here about is how Duquette made an awful decision in bringing Carl Everett to town. Meanwhile Epstein lost out on Pedro, refused to re-sign Lowe and signed Rentereia to a huge contract while letting the sure handed Cabrerra walk. Yet the masses are all thrilled because Theo is back!! Life for Red Sox Nation would not have gone on had we not gotten him back....just ask the guys at the Boston Globe or WEEI.
  3. Johnny Pesky wasn't much of a power hitter. Story goes that he had a knack for hitting the ball just far enough in the right field corner in and around the right field foul poll when he played. He was a small guy so there wasn't any other part of the park he could really hit one out of except for that area.
  4. Go to NHL.com or any sort of gift shop near the Fleet Center. I suggest you buy a replica jersey rather than authentic. You can't tell the difference between the two and the replica is around $85. I collect hockey jersey's but they are expensive and that is why I haven't bought one in three years.
  5. Riverside, The Great Irish Jay realizes that your just a high school student so he is not going to get in to an argument with you because you may resort to calling Jay a "Doo Doo head". I think Red Sox fans need to be more demanding of this team. I mean my fault lies with guys like Johnny Damon and Curt Schilling I can forgive Graffanino for he had a very solid year at 2nd and he's a heart and soul player. How bad is it that our best pitcher down the stretch was 42 year old vastly overweight David Wells......(HEARS GROUND SHAKE) Guys like Arroyo and Schilling failed to step up as did Varitek at the bat.
  6. Fred Cusak and Derek Sanderson were the best. Barry Melrose is a great announcer, Mike Eruzione is a great announcer. Dale Arnold is a total panzy who would be better off wearing a skirt and picking roses. As for your neighbor pissing you off, if you threw trash on his property I'm sure he would not piss you off again. When the next store neighbor continued to block my driveway off and he received a bat through his windshield he did not do it again
  7. Wow everyone is so accepting of this year's miserable failures. Why don't we just throw the Red Sox a rolling rally for making the playoffs!! We can all march down Yawkey way holding hands and singing "Kumbaya" and thanking the Red Sox players for their valiant effort in being DESTROYED in the playoffs. You people are far too forgiving. This is a team who has the 2nd highest payroll in the majors. Epstein dropped the ball completely in the offseason. When you get rid of guys like Derek Lowe and Pedro and your grand replacement is Matt Clement you deserve an F for a report card. As for what the Yankees are doing, I really don't care!!! It's the Red Sox im angry and disappointed at. The Yankees could have a 600 million dollar payroll and end up 30 games out of last place and I would not care. This year's Red Sox team was a total DISGRACE to the fans of New England who put so much faith in to them.
  8. Stocker, Throwing trash on the ice does not accomplish anything, however I don't blame the fans for doing it. They shelled out loads of money to see a game that has changed so much in the past decade you can't even recognize it. People like Dale Arnold blow throwing debris on the ice way out of proportion. Arnold and Neumeir are the same two clowns who moaned and groaned about Red Sox fans chanting "Yankees suck". The two of them can't understand what it's like to be a real fan who has to PAY money to attend games.
  9. Here we go again! Because I dare to critique a team who had a 130 million dollar payroll Im not a real fan. . As for the toad who said that Fitzgerald deserved to be called for a penalty, all I have to say is you obviously have never played hockey in your entire life. It used to be an unwritten code for refs to not decide a close game in the 3rd period by calling a penalty unless it was blatant. That was marginal at best and since Bettman came in to the league it has become the norm Gary Bettman may be the worst commisioner of all time for any sport. He has expanded the game to places where there is no interest and at the same time gotten rid of teams which were located in hockey hotbeds (Qubec, Winnipeg, Minnesota and Hartford.). He also has been hellbent on changing the rules in hockey in such a way that it merely drives the real hockey fans away to fullfill his delusions of building a tv marketing empire.
  10. If someone actually thinks that Varitek got the nod over Ortiz because he is white then they are the same people who make pilgrimages to Roswell every year to discuss their abductions from little green aliens. Enough of this Boston is racist crap! Papi, Pedro and Manny could not have been treated any better by the vast majority of white fans who shell out loads of cash to see games at Fenway park.
  11. How can all you people be so accepting of this year's team? They were huge underachievers who should have wrapped up the AL east two weeks before the season ended. Had they set their rotation they could have had a far better shot at beating the White Sox. They were swept at home for Christ sake and all of you people are acting like they gave us a great year. They have one of the largest payrolls in all of baseball and they went out like a sheep in first round.
  12. Oh gee thanks. As if any of us care what you think about our city's fans you brain dead turd! What is this whole "real fans" statement I keep hearing anyways? What the hell is this stigma associated with fans who boo the players or question the manager are not real fans?? The other night when the Bruins lost to the Habs, Montreal got a power play with 25 seconds left in the game on a TERRIBLE call. Of course Montreal with the perennial rabbit's foot up their ass score a game winning goal and the fans litter the ice. Dale Arnold the NESN broadcaster who is one of the worst announcers of all time begins on a tirade about people who throw debris on the ice are not real Bruins fans!! So here we have Mr Arnold who is paid a bundle by the Bruins to commentate even though he is talantless, clueless and boring. Yet he is going to rip fans who paid their hard earned money to see a good game because they threw a cup of beer or some nachos on the ice to show their disapproval with the call. That to me is a joke! As for this White sox fan who posted here who hates everything about Boston and it's fans, all I have to say to you is have fun losing to the Angels in the next round. Your team beat a Red Sox team who should not have even made the playoffs. Congratulations! This year's Red sox were a shell of the 2004 team so don't get all excited about your sweep. The White sox are a good team don't get me wrong, but they are not going to beat the Angels in a best of 7. As for me personally, I want the Atlanta Braves to win the whole thing now that the Red Sox are done.
  13. Yes, Millar certainly did his part for the Yankees today.
  14. The most tuned in Red Sox fans have been saying this all year long and today that nightmare came through in a most glaring form. With a man on first Tino Martinez hits a ball that should have been caught for a double play. However, Francona being his typical brain dead self has committed himself to playing Millar no matter how utterly putrid he is. Millar misplays the ball and BANG!! 2nd and 3rd nobody out. If Olerud had started he easily makes the catch and doubles the Yankees up. It should have been a 3-2 score with bases empty and nobody out. This entirely changes the whole complexion of the game. Not only are the Red Sox losing a fantastic glove in Olerud, they are also losing a great former batting champion at the plate. Francona's blind loyatly to Millar is enough to make you want to kick your tv in! The Red Sox should have wrapped this division up 2 weeks ago. Thanks to Francona's brain farts however, the Sox will once again be playing on the road throughout the playoffs. Home field advantage is huge in the playoffs but that doesn't seem to matter to Francona. what matters to him is that Millar is happy and Schilling is the center of attention. Wakefield pitching on three days rest was done solely not for the benefit of the team but for Schillings ENOURMOUS ego. Wakefield should have been the starter for tommorrow and would have had his usual four days rest. This team desperately needs a manager who is more like Bellicheck. Bellicheck does things not to be buddy buddy with the players, but he does what's best for the team..... TAKE A NOTE FRANCONA!
  15. Papelbon is the real deal. He really should be placed in the starting role seeing that Schilling and Arroyo are easier to score on than a Las Vegas hooker! Papelbon has the makeup of a superstar pitcher. Next year this team needs to make a turn to the young guns. Enough of these free agent pickups of 36 year old 3rd starters, let's build a great rotaton as Oakland and Atlanta does. Papelbon will be a great starting pitcher very soon.
