  1. would he still be a moron had Theo and John Henry went the "extra mile" and gotten him into Boston 2 winters ago. Thats one of the main things i hate about Sox fans, theyre so f***ing undecided, first youre throwing it in our faces how youre gonna have a better SS, then when you dont get him hes the f***in worst person in the world, but had you gotten him there would be no negativity toward him on the part of Sox fans. Its NOT HIS FAULT that hes not in Boston right now, just like ITS NOT HIS FAULT that hes in NY right now, he was apprached with proposal to move to 3rd to play on a winning team, something he wanted to do, so he decided to move to third, he didnt say "i want to go to the Yankees". So why dont you guys just f***ingg lay off him because we all know if he was in Red Socks right now it would be a f***ing A-Rod lovefest in here.
  2. i dont know where you were last october, but everyone favored the Sox to win it, regardless of STL being the best team in baseball last year.
  3. just because theyre on different teams doesnt mean they cant be friendly towards eachother
  4. pretty much couldnt agree with your statement more
  5. i wouldnt want Byrnes personally, hes the anti-yankee. he would be the perfect fit with a clubhouse similar to that of the Red Sox, not the Yankees. And plus, he was the fourth outfielder on the A's (started when Swisher was on the DL, but still he was really the fourth), I would rather have Winn, whose a better bunter, could batt leadoff, move Jeter to his natural 2 spot, and throw Cano 6 or 7th and stabalize the back end of the lineup, rather than have byrnes who would bat 9th and would do a mediocre job on offense. But still I would rather have Griffey, and if Griffey DOES go down (which I doubt, because he would get plenty of DH time when the Yanks play Bernie out there 2-3 days a week) Bubba Crosby (or Maybe even Melky, though everybody is down on him, which isnt fair, he didnt have enough of a chance, look how Cano played at first, similar to how Melky played, but they kept throwin Cano out there, I think they should have done the same with Cabrera) could fill in and do just as good a job as Byrnes.
  6. day game after night game maybe? anybody catch what number Hyzdu was wearing, i know it was 20-something
  7. scouting reports say he is a cant miss...but i havent seen him live yet. The Yanks wouldnt have to give the Reds much, and the Reds would obviously take on about half of the contract. The Reds are so desperate to get rid of Griff (despite having a pretty good year) that they would ship him over if we agreed to take half of the salary and send over 2 or 3 mediocre prospects, maybe a Charlie Manning, Coaname Cosme, Kevin Reese deal. Griffey coming to the Yanks has been rumored FOREVER, especially since in recent months he has said he would be willing to come to the Yanks (appearantly throughout his career he's said he would never play for the Yanks because of when his dad played for the Yanks, Billy Martin was an ******* and hated it when the kids were in the clubhouse, but hes recently changed his stance on that saying "i just want a ring"). It makes perfect sense for the Yanks this year, but Griffey doesnt make sense for them down the road, and he still has plenty of time on his contract. They want more of a Johhny Damon type in the years to come, but Griffey would definately fit this year. I could see them getting Griff, and if they got another CF in the offseason, trading him to Seattle (for a s***** package, similar to what they would send to Cinci). But if they dont get someone I can see him sticking around next year then being shipped off after next year (gotta think that by then Melky will be ready to take over full time). I doubt that they will get Griffey though, too much risk of injury, and doesnt fit the future mold. btw, i wouldnt mind having Embree, like I said, he'd do a better job than Wayne Franklin or Buddy Groom.
  8. Rivera wasnt closing in 96 so they didnt know for sure that hed be better at that point, and if you remember they did try to bring him back but he was pretty set with going to texas so it wasnt a big deal...they did make an offer though.
  9. this is pretty petty, I dont know why Joe's making such a big deal out of it, maybe its his way of getting back at Wetteland for leaving us after the 96 season hahah ...i believe the Yanks have more than 7 coaches, Neil Allen, Joe Girardi, Mel, Roy White, Luis Sojo, Donnie, Rich Monteleone, and Robby Thompson. But i Thing Montty and Thompson along with Charlie Wonskowicz work in the video room, though sometimes you see Monteleone in the bullpen....but whatever, this is a reall petty thing on the Yankees part
  10. Omar Minaya wont trade him, Omar loves this guy, he saw something in him in the winter and decided to sign him to a contract to pitch in his hometown despite the fact that hes been horrendous the last few years. Robby loves pitching for the Mets, his favorite team growing up, and loves pitching for Willie Randolph. And as I said, OMar loves him, so dont look for The Mets to trade him unless the deal obviously benefits them. I know its ridiculous as he'll probably retire at the end of the year and isnt exactly a Tom Gordon/Mike Timlin/ Jeff Nelson(in his heyday)/Akinori Otuska kind of guy, but he is coveted by the Mets.
  11. probably, Embree obviously wont opt to go to the minors, and youre right, Theo wont take the chance of letting him go out on the market, so trading him makes sense....i was just saying IF he was available
  12. well a young prospect like Ambres has more potential than Tony Graffanino, who is older and has already reached his prime...will probably never be better than he was with the White Sox
  13. Maybe we can get him ...or at least give him a shot, he'd probably do a better job than Buddy Groom has done lately.
  14. in the first page you guys were acting as if Graffinino was the next coming of Christ "oh thank god we have a 2B who wont strike out", etc.. So You SHUT THE f*** UP.......bro i did nothing to you, I'm just a perfect example of an ignorant ass Yankee fan, f*** me
  15. pretty lopsided trade if you ask me, Graffy isnt more than a backup/platoon player and Ambres has potential
  16. right forgot about that, shouldnt have included him in that hypothetical package i posted earlier
  17. no way you guys get Soriano without trading Hanley, simple as that
  18. doubtful, Graffinino is nothing more than a backup role player who might platoon with Bellhorn, you guys are acting as if you got an All Star 2B
  19. Burnetts not a closer though. BigPapiEnFuego, if you guys gt Burnett Arroyo wouldnt be able to go to the pen, he'd be in florida, any deal involving the Sox and Marlins for Burnett would involve Arroyo
  20. wow i never saw someone use one series as an insult so much...get over it, teams go through cold streaks and thats all that was...drop it already, its not like theyve routinely beat us ALL year.
  21. you might not have mentioned it, but i gladly will. If i recall Tex, youre the one who so noted how we had no chance because our schedule was "tougher". Well we beat the tough team tonight and you guys lost to the lesser team. Puts the Sox one back in the loss column and the Yanks a half game in front..... let me say that while Schilling CLEARLY touched the bag on that play in the 9th, i believe he was a little late and the call was correct, and Lou had no right getting tossed. Granted it was a close play but i saw the runner reach first
  22. what are you talking about, the Rangers have been shopping Soriano since the offseason, he almost went to the Stros back in february, and remember all the rumors about him going to the Mets. So please dont say he aint goin nowhere, because the Rangers would love to rid themelf of him and the money he is going to command next year in arbitration, and want to move Michael Young back to 2B and possibly bring up a SS, or trade for a SS until their prospect is ready. I have heard nothing of this from any credible sources, but it makes more than perfect sense for the Red Sox, except for the fact that they have that kid that Gammons is always talking about (dont remember the name off the top of my head) who plays second. But for this year and to have a better team Sori makes perfect sense. And they could possibly trade him in the offseason if they want their rookie to play next year. But I could easily see Texas shipping Sori to Beantown for a package somewhat like Hanley Ramirez, John Halama (or maybe Gonzalez or even a Mantei), Abe Alvarez, and either Youk, Mueller, Millar (if these reports of him wanting out are true, despite the fact he has denied them recently), Adam Stern, Bellhorn, Cora, or Roberto Petagine. It would make perfect sense for both teams, especially since the Sox made the completely ridiculous decision to bring a SS in for a 4yr contract when they knew they had a SS ready to come up in about 2. They could have easily brought a Nomar or a Barry Larkin in for 1 year until Hanley was ready, but opted to go with Renteria, which will do nothing but delay the growth of Ramirez and maybe even possibly set him back while he is waiting til Renteria is gone. So this trade makes sense for both teams, and the Rangers could ship out there SS prospect for a reliever or something. Sox fans, tell me if you like this deal; Red Sox Get: 2B Alfonso Soriano Rangers Get: SS Hanley Ramirez RP Matt Mantei (or Halama/Gonzalez) SP Abe Alvarez 2B/IF Mark Bellhorn (or Youk/Mueller/Millar/Petagine/Stern/Cora) Not that this is actually being discussed or planned or anything, its just something i put together in the last five minutes that i think could benefit both teams (not looking at it from a Yankee fan's point of view, just that of plainly a baseball observer/analyst). Now for me personally, if Sori, who is one of our own, goes anywhere near the home clubhouse at Fenway Park, i will be very crushed and disappointed, as will probably all Yankee fans, and maybe even Sori himself who loved being a Yankee and actually still maintains residency in Manhatten during the offseason(goes back and forth between NY and the Dominican)...but would no doubt play hard and put his feelings aside to win.
  23. for now its a pretty good deal, when church is 100% ready im sure theyll move preston whens he a free agent?
  24. trust that all of NY is all over A-Rod for this.... appearantly hes doing it to make up for neglecting his dominican heritage last year at some point, dont remember all the specifics
  25. i doubt Bernie retires, id expect him back with a much smaller salary in a bench role
