  1. did u watch them before Manny signed??
  2. this is a perfect example of the Red Sox in some regards...what, did everyone forget how Urbina used to make gestures when he closed the door on us...i dont see how Sox fans or Sox broadcasters..or anyone connected to the Sox in any aspect can be mad after the s*** Urbina pulled.
  3. yea he would definately love to come back, but refuses to change positions, i think if this mets trade goes through it should greatly benefit him and the mets to have him reunited with his mentor, Willie
  4. i appologize, i knew he was reccomended by Zim, I thought they traded for him though, my mistake ...Tek, i got the point, i was just making the correction, no biggie
  5. how was he rushed up, he was playing in Class A Tampa last year (after being called up from Battle Creek)...AA is the next stop, he thrived in Tampa, it made sense to move him to Trenton
  6. i think they recently nixed the idea...just gonna stick with the college game ....i know im really late on this, i actually forgot all about this thread until i was browsing the "Other Sports" section...Texas won, so much for not having the fire power to go all the way, huh?
  7. i wasnt saying that you shouldnt celebrate the past, i BELIEVE that the past needs to be recognized and celebrated, its the Sox fans that dont think that, so thats why i said that i dont want to hear anything about this championship if they dont win this year, and if i do then that makes the Sox fans who say the past doesnt count frauds. And I obviously believe the present is more important, but without the past there would be no present.
  8. i could see him shaved and with short hair...in fact ive seen it ....his entire career until 2004

    Dfa

    good example
  10. its just ignorance man, the only reason they say that is because they have nothing to celebrate prior to last year with the exception of the 5 championships back in the early 1900's. They dont have anything to celebrate so they act as if there is no reason for anyone else to celebrate the past. if they dont win it this year theyll still be talking about how they won it last year...which is in the past, and according to Tex and Annie, the past doesnt count....so im going to say this right now, come November, if the Sox arent the 2005 World Champs, I dont want to hear another thing about their 2004 victory because it would be in the past and they wouldnt be the current/defending champions anymore
  11. I REALLY dont wanna trade Melky...I have no problem trading Sierra and Proctor though ...maybe they would consider somethign along the lines of : Sierra, Proctor, Kevin Reese, Ramon Ramirez, Shelley Duncan (AA 2B...with Cano theres really no room for him in the future, and hasnt really shown any potential except his year, so maybe CIN would take a shot on him), Justin Pope
  12. my solution is do whats worked, add a guy who can play a major role (Cecil Fielder, David Justice type aquisition). Give Embree a shot, if he doesnt work call up Brian Boehringer (former Yank recently signed to a minor leage deal, last 3 years spent with PIT), then call up Mendoza when hes done rehabbing and give him a shot...and if need be, call up Mets reject (and Steroid user/pothead) Grant Roberts (playing in Trenton, signed a few weeks ago). Add Griffey, Winn, Byrnes, or Sori (if he agrees, which is doubtful) to play center. Add Schmidt, Sabean is asking for Cano but i think if we wait it out we can get him for less, but only if we throw some $$$$ in the deal.
  13. O'Neil was traded for, Tino was traded for, Girardi was traded for, Clemens was traded for, and Moose is the only guy on that list that was signed as a free agent O'Neil---Roberto Kelly (CIN) Martinez---Sterling Hitchcock deal (along with Nelson) (SEA) Girardi---forgot who we traded for him (COL) Clemens---David Wells, Homer Bush, Graeme Loyd (TOR) so not only could Stcik develop, but he could trade (O'Neil was him, Tino was him, Girardi was him, Clemens was Cashman)
  14. Boogie, wow...no way trading Sheffield could benefit us, hes too meaningful, hes the HEART of our offense, and hes hardly anti-yankee and hardly a cancer, hes a leader in the clubhouse, and went to lenghts such as threatening to be a problem for any team that trades for him, just to remain with the Yanks (who werent shopping him, he made that comment in regards to the Mike Cameron rumor). Trading Posada is not an option, he is a 10-5 guy and wouldnt accept a trade. Plus lets be realistic, the Yankees arent the Yankees without Jorge Posada, hes really not as bad as people make him out to be. Moving Jeter to CF is the most un-yankeefan like thing i have EVER heard. He IS our franchise, and is the best SS in franchise history. He's the captain of our team and is the SHORTSTOP of our team. He wouldnt move to accomodate A-Rod before, what makes you think he can do it now...and plus in an interview he gave a few years back he said he would be a horrible outfielder due to his lack of ability to judge fly balls (now dont point fingers at me, because he is obviously the best SS when it comes to popups, but these words came out of his mouth, NOT MINE). And Burroughs is a JOKE, he cant pla in SD, what makes you think he can play in NY, short porch or not.
  15. maybe my statement is biased because im a Yankee fan, but i highly doubt you watch Crosby on a consistent basis and see how fast he is...i would put him up against any of those guys any day, and IMO I think hes faster than Dave Roberts...a VERY KEY stolen base doesnt make you Michael Johnson, hes gettin pretty old, and though still one of the fastest in the game, i think Bubba's faster.
  16. Thank You
  17. Bro, trust me, Crosby is definately one of the top 5 fastest guys in baseball...you probably dont watch him enough to know but i would put him up there with the Carl Crawfords, Nook Logans, and Tony Womacks of the world anyday ...and i didnt say speed equaled good defense, i said it made him able to cover a lot more ground in the field.
  18. where are the new boards, ive tried all the Yankee boards but all are filled with unknowledgable, frontrunning "fans"...word of these new boards is a godsend.
  19. Bernie is a liability in CF, though he is still capable of making good plays, his arm is absolutely horendous, always has been..but its gotten worse over the last 2 seasons and is capable of really hurting us now. Crosby is one of the top 5 fastest guys in baseball, and therefore he can cover a lot more ground in the outfield, and is pretty good on defense in terms of actually catching the ball. I still dont think he is good enough to be the everyday guy, but he will do alternating with Bernie until we get a better solution.
  20. Flaherty has been pretty clutch throughout his tenure with the Yanks, but lets be real, if you compare his stats if he were playing everyday to those of Psoadas, Posada would blow him out of the water. Jorge is much more reliable and a better hitter..regardless of frequent slumps. If Flaherty is such a guarantee in a clutch spot, he wouldnt get pinch hit for in the late innings for Posada when the team is down.
  21. the last thing hes gonna do is take steroids again...especially with the new testing system, the fact that hes already a target, and the fact that hes disappointed about the fact that he f***ed up for the Yankees....so no way hes on Steroids. Just because hes on a power surge doesnt mean that its not natural.
  22. does it really make sense to trade Arroyo and a top prospect for this injury prone, late 20's inconsistent starter who has said on numerous occasions that he would love to be reunited with his best friend Carl Pavano in the offseason (not that I want him, thats just what he said....because honestly I really dont, i'd rather ganble with Milwood or Schmidt). Arroyo has a lot of potential, he brings a lot of personality to that clubhouse, and hes publically said he didnt want to go anywhere...in fact there was a lot about it in the Boston papers this morning. So do Red Sox fans really think getting Burnett is worth it?
  23. According to the Daily News, rumors were swirlig yesterday about Griffey coming to the Yanks, but were shot down. (article also states the Yanks might have interest in Randy Winn for center, Embree, and other relievers.) http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/story/331050p-282946c.html
  24. obviously not just DiNardo, like DiNardo and 1 or 2 mediocre prospects playing in Wilmington or Portland....it wouldnt require top prospects. But I dont think the Guardians are going to be trading off players. But the last 2 days I have heard rumors saying that the Guardians are shopping Millwood.
