  1. I hope not...i can truthfully say that tears will be flowing from my eyes if Roger tests positive. I love Roger and always have, even when he was in Boston. I remember my first Yankee game back in '91, Roger pitched a spectacuar game, shutting out the Yankees and since then he has always been my favorite pitcher. I practically idolize Roger Clemens, iI cant imagine how i would feel if he tests positive.
  2. was Perisho signed or traded?
  3. that he USED it. He probably did ask questions, he probably asked what it would do, and the answer as he said was "heal these bruises". While it is common among some, its equally as uncommon among others to ask whats in their medicine. I suspect had this taken place today he would have asked what was in it and got all the details. But because it happened in 2002, while steroids was an issue, it wasnt looked at as closely or considered by many as as big a deal as it is now. Thanks and you know this for sure how? Its fair to speculate but unfair to flat out say that hes on it. tell me about it, keeping up with this thread is equavilant to a hard days work. I second the motion
  4. Embree had not allowed a hit to any of the last 11 batters he faced before Konerko homered
  5. Time Out, Time Ot...Giambi has been tested 3 times as well, most recently about 2 weeks ago. How come he's not considered safe by many of you guys, but Damon is. So do uys like Sheffield, but that doesnt stop you guys from pointing fingers at him.
  6. We're just thrilled about it. Who knew, $300K can uy us a better pitcher than $16 Million.
  7. August 13, 1997 Yankees Got C, 1B, DH Mike Stanley Minor League IF Randy Brown Red Sox Got P Tony Armas Jr. (now with WAS) PTBN
  8. 1997, I remember you guys sent us back Mike Stanley. Ill go check the media guide to get the full details.
  9. NO, he also turned down trades to Atlanta and Houston, are you saying that Houston and Atlanta are percieved badly? What do you mean you'll miss it, you guys have only done it last year. You act a if its a regular thing, like when we used to beat up on you guys regularly. wow, the world seems to be singing a different song now. how come every player who has played here, in any sport, says that we are the best and most knowledgeable fans. Its always New England and New York that are always commended on their passion and knowledge of the game, and having the best fans. So please stop with that ******** about how we're the dumberst, rudest fans in sports. The small amount of fans you're reffering to are the bandwagoners. The people that jumped on board after we won all the championships in the 90's. Im surprised you dont recognize them, because they're turning up all over "Red Sox nation" now. When the Yankees were "America's Team" in the 90's we had bandwagoners, and now that The Sox have taken over as "America's Team" the same thing is happening. Dont you think its kind of odd that you have all these fans from all over the country. You would think that it would offend the real Sox fan, when fans, who have teams of their own out where they live, are feeding off the Red Sox. So in a few years there will be just as many "rude, dumb, and stupid" Red Sox fans as their are Yankee fans. They're called frontrunners.
  10. since you guys dont have a histroy section here didnt know where to put this, feel free to move it.
  11. This was always a topic that intrigued me very much. The idea of this trade in '49, when DiMag was at the end of his career, and Williams coming into the prime of his could have been one of the best deals in Yankee history. Though it would have been nice to have Ted in pinstripes, im glad we stuck with DiMaggio (who happens to be my favorite Yankee of all time) and also glad that we didnt make the trade because I have heard rumor that Yogi Berra would have been involved in that deal. Phil Pepe wrote an article for YESNetwork.com concerning this subject, and he also talks about the offer the Yankees made to Ted Williams after he retired to come out of retirement to join the 1961 team as a Pinch Hitter (left was filled between Yogi, Ellie, and Jonny Blanchard). He obviouly declined, but it would have been something to see Teddy Ballgame in pinstripes on that magnificant 1961 Yankees Team. (wonder who would have worn 9, Maris or Williams ) Well anyways, HERE is the link.
  12. wow, I didnt hear this, you would think it would be all over ESPN and other media outlets. I do not like this as I am one of the VERY VERY few people who believe Barry. Sheffield has said it numerous times that Barry could very well be the hardest working man in baseball (i dont think anybody works harder than Roger Clemens), and Barry did offer to be tested EVERY SINGLE DAY.
  13. thanks RSR...i had a hard time signing up.
  14. You Think I Think too much..hmm....I got to Think about that one haha
  15. According to the Post he was claimed off waivers by the Yanks but then exercised his no-trade clause for the second time this year (1st time being around the deadline refusing a trade to the Astros) refusing a trade to the Bombers. Since I can just go out and buy the Post, im not registered on their website, so ill do that now and when I get the confirmation email ill provide a link.
  16. i didnt say it was smart baserunning, i said it was smart baseball because he was trying to take advantage of a situation to help his team win. And how do you know Rickey never did it, he played a LONG time, and has played indy ball the last 2 years. Have you watched every single one of his minor league. major league. and independant league games to verify that he has never done it. And i acknowledged the fact that he was caught with the Arroyo play
  17. Tex, i noticed in ur sig it says Yankee Dynasty 1913-2000. Um, we werent too great in 1913, in fact we didnt win a pennant until 1921, and didnt win a World Series until 1923. So thats when that current dynasty started, and lasted up until about the mid/late 60's. (in fact it could be argued that there were several seperate dynasties in that time period, but the fact is they still won consistantly winning multiple championships in each of those decades). Then we had a "mini-dynasty" in in the late 70s started with our pennant win in '76, followed by our 77 and 78 championships, and concluded with the loss of the '81 World Series. Then our most recent dynasty began in 1996 (some say '95 because thats when we went to the playoffs, but i say 96 because that was the start of the Joe Torre era) Anyways, our recent one began in '96 and concluded after Game 7 of the 2001 World Series. Hence the name of the Buster Olney book "The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty". But some could argue that the dynasty is still going on, because if you think about it just because we didnt win it all in 2001 we still won the pennant, we won the division in 2002, we won the pennant in 2003, and made it to the ALCS in 2004, just because you dont win the Series every year doesnt mean that you arent still a dynast. Just take the dynasty of the '20s. We won our first title in 1923, and didnt win another until 1927, and many still consider that a dynasty regardless of the 3 years without a title. Not that any of this is significant, i just like correcting ignorant Sox fans who dont know what theyre talking about.
  18. why, so his temmatecould be duble u d hurt their cances of winning. I dont see everyodys problem wth this, ts not cheatng, its smart baseball (if intentional, which it might not have been). He tried to take a sitution and use it to his advantage, same thing with the Arroyo play, except that time it was a little more obvious and we were penalized for it. So everyone stop crying about it, its not like it was against you guys or anything like that, and its really not a big deal, it didnt affect the outcome of the score or anything like that, so just drop it.
  19. he was just running back to the dugout....wasnt intentional ....or maybe it was, but i doubt it, did look like he slowed down his jogging as the throw was coming in so that the throw wouldnt be behind him, but I doubt he did it on purpose, but if he did, great...its not cheating, its part of the game, we werent penalized for it or anything. Its just smart baseball as far as im concerned (if it was intentional)
  20. just something ive noticed recently, but havent gotten around to bringing it up, i noticed Gonzalez is wearing 54, now correct me if im wrong please, but i recall him wearing 32 earlier in the year because Halama had 54. If im wrong about 32, please tell me what other numbers he has worn this year.
  21. id rather have Embree out there than Wayne Franklin. And Embree seems to be straightning out little by little
  22. i know it sounds odd, but look at it this way. You only need 4 starters in the postseason, if we get there they would be Randy, Moose, and hopefully Wang/Wright/Pavano/Brown can fill out the last 2 spots. u gotta figure at least two of them are going to be back. If only one comes back, with the performance i wouldnt be too opposed to having Chacon out there. Aaron Small has somewhat ressurected his career and could be a valueable asset to the bullpen down the stretch, if we ever get enough healthy starters to knock him otu of the rotation. But the reason I said i hope someone is out for the year is that because if you add any of the injured starters to the active roster, someone has to go. Only 2 of the active pitchers have options and could be sent down without risk of losing them to waivers, Wayne Franklin and Scott Proctor. So say Wang is activated, it would likely be Franklin that is sent down (Embree and Leiter are sufficient options out of the pen from the left side). Now if someone else comes back, it would be Proctor over Small that gets sent down. Now I dont know about you, but I like Proctor very much and I think that he can provide some depth, if needed, in the postseason. I would rather have him in the playoffs than an injured Pavano or Brown. The only guy that its injured right now that I would take over him is Wright. Only because he has a power arm and could really give us a very long bullpen.
  23. if a medical professional tells me to take something im going to take it. my doctor told me to take these pills in preperation for my surgery next week and i take them...no questions asked, trainer tells Sheff to rub cream on his knee to help it, he takes it no questions asked.
  24. I hope hes out the rest of the year. Give him a clean slate in the spring. Quite frankly with the pitching surplus we have right now a season ending injury could lift the burden. Especially if its somebody who hasnt done very well, such as Kevin Brown who will likely be out the rest of the year.
