  1. It was either going to be Sunday at Anaheim or yesterday against Detroit. You make the pick which game you'd rather have him miss. Besides, Olerud played great in Manny's four spot yesterday.
  2. Agree with yeszir. Nomar was the guy who made me start liking the Sox all those years ago, and in my mind all this bashing of the guy is stupid. Yeah, he's a liability, but that's why the Cubs only re-signed him to a one year contract. He's a fantastic player and a great guy, so hopefully he's back out there soon.
  3. Give Theo whatever he wants. After what the man did for us last year and is doing for us this year, he deserves that five-year deal. Is it not arguable, that he is THE BEST or one of the best general managers in all of baseball?
  4. 1. MLB 2. NCAA Football 3. NBA 4. NFL 5. NCAA Baseball 6. NHL 7. NCAA Basketball 8. NCAA Hockey Sorry, I'm trying to get into hockey this year with the Bruins, but hockey isn't big down here so it's hard to really get into.
  5. Geez, no wonder Mexico City Mexicans is leading the league by 9.5 games. His pitching is just phenominal and his hitting is tearing it up. Whoever that is, really was able to draft some great players.
  6. Wow, walking in the game winning run? BWAHAHAHAHA! Well, actually... no, I won't say anything unless they take the series from you tomorrow.
  7. To me, it HAS to be one of the 2004 ALCS moments. I'm going to go with the game winning walkoff homerun in game four. To me, that symbolized that the Red Sox weren't going down without a fight so I'm going to go with that 'Papi moment'. He's an excellent player, one of the greatest clutch players in Red Sox history... there's just so many moments to choose from.
  8. Another suggestion: We may not want to have this thread always posted at the top. I think if it's not always stuck at the top, it won't be passed up like it is right now. More trades will be made and more attention will be payed to the fantasy league if we do that.
  9. That's the only problem with baseball fantasy leagues. I've been trying to keep up my best with the league, but when you're in your first year of the league and you don't have a great draft and you follow it up by making a bad trade or two it's tough to be any better than 9 or 10 in the 16 team league. As they now say in New York: Wait 'til next year. I'll ride out the season, but man this has been a tough year for the Texas PawSox.
  10. I'm still trying to understand putting the Yankee game thread where we have always put the Red Sox game threads. Oh well.
  11. It all comes down to how die-hard the fan base is. I probably check redsox.com about 5 times a day just checking up on things or looking at a box score from the previous game. We've always said the Yankees have some of the worst fans in the game, this just proves it in another way if you will.
  12. Question: Is Roberto Petagine not good enough to start fully? If I'm the Red Sox, I'm fine with having him start full time. I wouldn't go after Thome, but Konerko and Helton should definitely be considered as options, as well.
  13. Oh man that's funny. Is that really true?
  14. 7-2, now. What Eric Rollet from Rhode Island's favorite player is Miguel Tejada?!?! I hope he strikes out.
  15. You've got to have love for the Red Sox of tomorrow, yeszir. I mean, when we're in our 30's these guys are going to be dominating in Boston. Nothing like watching some good young New England talent on ESPN.
  16. In honor of Maine having a 7-1 lead, here's an interesting fact: "Maine was at one time part of Massachusetts. It became its own state in 1820, becoming the 23rd state admitted to the United States of America, although its northern borders were not finalized until 1842."
  17. The good thing is how much of a pitchers park, Comerica is. So a guy like Papelbon should hopefully be fine in such a forgiving park a Detroit.
  18. 3-1, Maine in the third. I wonder how many of these kids are on steroids & if the steroid penalty is as harsh.
  19. WEEI is making it really sound like this game is going to be called.
  20. They can't call the game and give us the loss, because the fifth inning isn't complete. I believe that is the rule. This will most likely be re-scheduled or something else.
  21. Let's hope Theo is already out there scouting these guys. The game is 2-1 in the second... so who am I rooting for? It is more likely that I attend college in Maine, but you can't root against Rhode Island.
  22. podsednik, do you not live in the Chicago area? And if not, how do you keep up with the White Sox?
  23. Yeah, that's what I was going to ask you. I hate that damn rain delay graphic that MLB Extra Innings puts up. Maybe next season, I'll buy both MLB Extra Innings and MLB.tv. Oh well, listening to Joe & Jerry on WEEI is fine.
  24. No way... 108 degrees?
  25. RSR, are you watching the game on MLB Extra Innings or MLB.tv right now?
