  1. The line on Lowe: 2.1 IN 8 H 4 ER 2 BB 0 K Weak effort in an important game.
  2. Perfect opportunity to put pressure on the MFY.
  3. Apparently it was the Orioles who complained last week about Pesky being in the dugout.
  4. On a lighter note... Good news...The City of Boston and Citgo are insuring the sign will stay lit over the Wall for generations to come. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...rk_in_the_dark/

    Kazmir

Last night Scott Kazmir was unreal. If any Mets fans watched last night's game they have to be furious. I know he had control problems after Tampa brought him up but he has some amazing stuff and if he doesn't blow out his arm he'll be the Devil Rays ace.
  6. I'm starting to think the 8th inning is a big challenge for Francona. Monday night, with the score 6-2, he lets McCarty hit against the righty pitcher. Granted McCarty did hit a HR, but if this was a playoff game would McCarty still hit in that situation? If not, then why do it a week before the playoffs? Then later with first and third and two out with Bellhorn up, he sends out Hyzdu on deck to hit for Manny. Until the MFY win, these games all mean something. Isn't Manny's job to drive in runs? Is Hyzdu on the playoff roster that he needs the at bat? His moves just don't seem to make sense.
  7. I imagine there will be a great deal of scoreboard watching the rest of the week. I don't any reason for the Sox to try to win games, but they do need to protect players. This throwing at hitters crap last night is just the sort of thing that can lead to a bad injury. With 11 pitchers in the bullpen they do have the arms to get throught the week.
  8. Tonight in the 9th he was still getting some pitches up. Jeff Blum took him very deep and you could see the look on Foulke's face that he was not satisfied with that pitch. He's throwing 90 which is good for the change, but he's got to get the ball down.
  9. What a break getting Kazmir tossed...Good to see the modest celebration. Time to rest...and get the rotation in order.
  10. I had to read that twice but it makes sense... WEEI says Manny's HR went 458 feet.
  11. I may be behind the curve here...but if the Sox win tonight they clinch. However a Sox loss and Angels loss does not clinch. The key is getting the 94th victory. http://www.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/bos/news/bos...s_bos&fext=.jsp
  12. Absolutely right on about Embree and Myers. The way Tito threw away the games Thursday and Friday is why many of us are uneasy about him making a decision in the playoffs.
  13. What a great farewell for Ellis Burks at Fenway. First the hit on Thursday night and then the standing ovation Sunday. It's nice to see the Sox and their fans reward a guy who truly has alot of heart.
  14. Red Sox Magic Number for playoffs is 2. 6 games ahead of Angels, 7 ahead of Rangers. Anaheim @ Texas 8:05 ET For anyone still harboring hope, under MLB rules the Sox only need to tie the MFY in order to win the AL East without a one game playoff.
  15. Schilling Pedro Lowe Arroyo There's no doubt number 38 is number 1. Wake must go to the bullpen. Dropping Pedro down to number 3 to let Arroyo pitch on the road is a clever idea, but Pedro needs to pitch Game 2. Here's hoping the Sox can wrap the series up in three or four games to allow Schilling to pitch game 1 of the ALCS.
  16. This year the Extra Innings package has featured more NESN games then past years. After six months my kids now sing the Foxwoods song. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were all NESN games.
  17. Technically the Sox magic number now is for a playoff berth, since they're not officially out of the race for the AL East.
  18. This is the last Sox home game until Game 3 of the ALDS. Red Sox magic number for WC is 3. 6 game lead over Angels and Rangers. Seattle @ Texas 2:05 ET Oakland @ Anaheim 8:05 ET I really can't believe Brown is pitching. The MFY have no reason to panic, yet it seems they are. Even if he goes 4 innings it only takes one line drive back at him to ruin him for the playoffs...that's fine with me.
  19. Wow it was good to see them have a big inning. Lescanic pitched great. Mirabelli was a stud. Tek got a big pinch hit. And Francona got tossed and Brad Mills managed us to a win. This win insures the MFY cannot celebrate the AL East title at Fenway tomorrow.
  20. 12-5...I think the lead is Foulke proof.
  21. Interesting that Varitek did not pinch hit for Mirabelli.
  22. Alright...a pitching change in the 7th and Lescanic gets the double play! I wonder if Francona called for the pitching change from the clubhouse.
  23. Sitting Tek may be a good thing. He hasn't been swinging the bat well lately and a rest may benefit him for the playoffs. Mirabelli has shown an ability to succeed whenever he's in the lineup.
  24. Wallace had Charlie Hough come up from Rhode Island this week to talk with Wake. I hope it does some good.
  25. I think we're stuck with Francona for at least another year. Management would look foolish if they let him go this winter.
