  1. s***, hot dogs are free at Fenway tonight and I’m not there.
  2. Nice K to end the inning but you gotta wonder how long he'll last tonight.
  3. Split double header for tomorrow with noon and 5 PM starts.
  4. Papi hits through the shift.
  5. It’s refreshing to know that the Sox are in a position where they have a solid corps of farmhands ready and waiting to make a significant contribution at the ML level.
  6. Fox is showing the A’s/Yankees game now. Are they supposed to cut over to the Sox game if/when that begins? I have the TV on mute, mainly because I can’t stand listening to Tim McCarver.
  7. It sucks that Lester has to make his debut on a day where rain could definitely be a game factor.
  8. When's the last time Wake had a 3 run lead...seems like forever.
  9. More names are coming to the surface as Jim Leyritz admits to using amphetamines. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2476681
  10. I'm thinking that the Lester move now suggests that the Sox FO don't think Wells will be returning anytime soon, if at all. They want to give Lester a number of start opportunities before the trade deadline 7/31. If he performs well enough then the idea of a trade to acquire a starter would probably be nixed. If he doesn't perform then there's still enough time to go out and seal a deal for more pitching by the deadline. I'm not in any way suggesting that HE would be traded, but giving Lester some starts before the end of July, allows a little more wiggle room for Sox management to make an overall long-term decision about who (if anybody) they might go after trade wise
  11. Of course Tony Mazz, the columnist who wrote that Herald article, didn’t have any problem with those bandwagon fans who bought his book that he wrote after 2004.
  12. But what if the move was temporary, until his offensive numbers started to get better? It shouldn’t be taken as an admission that management was wrong with Crisp leading off, but rather a means to help his bat get hot.
  13. I do think that. He sticks with a status quo, letting veterans work through their struggles, despite their current performance issues. How many times last year did we see Millar struggle in key situations?
  14. A couple of cherry-picked observations: --Grimsley did pitch for the Yankees, a team that comes up time-and-time again with regards to steroid use. --With the IRS involved in the investigation, this whole thing is taking on a mafia-esque feel with them possibly being the group that exposes the players.
  15. Why is it too early to move Youk back to leadoff? IMO, now is the time to move Crisp down in the order until he starts hitting. Once his offense picks up, then reconsider the leadoff position for him. But Tito, being the player’s manager that he is, probably wont move Crisp and will give him every chance possible to come around.
  16. It looks like, at the very least, investigators are moving their focus from BALCO.
  17. Doesn't Tek have a no trade clause?
  18. I just read you blog review of last night’s game and saw the lines: Although he walked the winning run you could make the argument that Francona could have possibly done more to enable a win by taking out Pauley sooner, before the bases were loaded. Or even more put a lineup together that doesn’t have struggling players like Crisp and Tek batting in key positions in the order. There’s enough “blame” to throw around that maybe Seanez shouldn’t take the full brunt of it all. Side note: Your blog continues to rock...good work!
  19. Just announced that tonight’s game has been postponed. I wonder if this will have a ripple effect in that Lester’s assumed start on Saturday won’t happen.
  20. My bad…I should have added the fact that Foulke wasn’t available due to injuries. But to be honest I don’t get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I see him brought in to close situations like last night. JMO…
  21. It’s unfortunate that MLB takes another hit against its reputation. It’s also unfortunate that Bud Selig and the commissioner’s office didn’t do something years ago to prevent all of this from becoming a public matter. Is there any wonder that interest in baseball among young Americans continues to drop every year?
  22. According to Rotoworld he's been released:
