  1. Remy‘s mention of how Beckett has been working on lowering his windup reminded me of this thread. The new ? windup as Remy called it seems to be effective. All of his pitches were on tonight, great stuff.
  2. But did he have a history of injuries? Isn’t that why players like Crawford did all of that s***? It cuts down recovery time and makes the pain less severe. I don’t think it’s always a large person, but athletes who are bothered by nagging injuries.
  3. Who actually votes in the ROY award? Is it the Baseball Writers Assoc, or some group like that?
  4. It think the $40M is to be paid over the next 4 years. Brown is still getting paid from his time with the Pistons as well. The buyout from his time there is worth about $7M.
  5. I’d like it if they showed a video compilation on the Jumbotron of some of his highlights while with the Sox. Moments like watching him push Zimmer to the ground or coming out of the bullpen in the 1999 playoffs vs. Cleveland and absolutely dominating would have to warm even the sourest fans.
  6. On Deadspin he is reported to be into karate and boxing. http://www.deadspin.com/sports/baseball/brett-myers-punched-his-wife-in-the-face-182933.php Not exactly the kind of PR any team needs starting a 3 game series on the road.
  7. At times I think he’s an *******, but I do get a kick out of Ozzie’s candor and his outspokenness. In a time when some managers, when interviewed, sound like they’re reading a release from the team PR department, one of Ozzie’s tirades can be quite entertaining. I’m not saying I necessarily agree with what he has to say but I like the way he doesn’t hold anything back.
  8. I can’t wait to see him face some of the tougher AL teams like the CWS, Toronto, and the NYY whose batters are more patient and disciplined than what we’ve seen so far from the NL
  9. The only downside I can see is that Johnson is out of options, so there won’t be that same flexibility as Snyder has with making changes in the roster.
  10. Theo seems to be doing the same thing Cashman did last year. Picking up other teams’ castoffs of the waivers and maybe you get a 2005 Small or Chacon.
  11. I like this move. With only money and a PTBNL the Sox give up next to nothing and possibly get some needed pitching help for the rest of the season .
  12. In other White Sox news, David Riske is now possibly facing suspension. Link http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/wilbur/sports_blog/blog/2006/06/21/an_added_riske/index.html
  13. Ever wonder what happened to Paxton Crawford? He had that weird injury with the glass. I also remember him pitching in Nashua for the Pride, and then fell off the map. Interesting new story on ESPN Insider… Link: http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/news/story?id=2492678&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fmlb%2finsider%2fnews%2fstory%3fid%3d2492678
  14. Here's a link from the Globe's Extra Bases: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  15. Paps would be the obvious exception. I was referring mostly to his use of Tavarez, and to a lesser degree Seanez, who have been his main go-to guys in high leverage situations.
  16. I like how Tito has given definite roles to the people in the pen. No more guessing games over who does what when. And even more it shows his confidence in the young players, something that Tito hasn’t always done in the past. (However I do wonder if Theo had any part in this decision.)
  17. Any ideas on who will take Snow’s place on the 40-man roster?
  18. An important fact to keep in mind with Snyder is that he’s got a 10 day window with the Sox. Either they trade him or put him on waivers. So his start tonight is probably the only chance to throw him into a game situation and see how he performs.
  19. I wonder why Trot isn’t starting tonight..? Also this will be Kapler’s return to Fenway. No doubt this fan favorite will receive a warm reception.
  20. Yes. June 19, 2006 officially marks the end of the JT Snow relationship with the Sox. Also Paps won't be available, per Francona.
  21. Announced on WEEI today: JT Snow was DFA'd to make room on the roster
  22. Announced on WEEI: JT Snow was DFA’d to make room for Snyder. Willie Harris is here to stay, for now.
  23. Seanez seems to perform at his best when he goes into a game without any runners on. He'd be a real asset if he could be more consistent with getting the first batter.
  24. The more I think about this I think you are correct. Over the next 10 days I think the Sox could get away without JVB, without stretching the pen too thin. Still only 11 pitchers… The points about Harris' overall utility at many positions might make him a keeper, for now. However he and JT Snow are both vying for the "biggest waste of a roster spot".
