  1. I don't see why you think the Sox need to upgrade their 2B situation. With Pokey and/or Bellhorn we've got a good defensive tandem here. And s***, if Pokey keeps hitting the HR's...
  2. KC comes to Boston at just the right time. Their mediocre pitching has woken up the Sox bats. I’m glad Schilling is finally getting some run support.
  3. Pokey power!! He's been doing a lot of work on his hitting and working with Papa Jack, and it's obviously paying off!!
  4. Do we see Ortiz in the starting lineup today? He has struggled big time with the lefties the past 2 days. I wouldn't mind sitting him in this one. Maybe a pinch hit appearance later in the game...
  5. Another bat with some power off the bench would be great. With Burks gone (and who knows how long) we have no right handed pop. And Daubach just doesn't do it for me as the lefty bat. Luckily he's a utility player or else he'd still be down in Pawtucket. If there was a slugger out there that could be acquired for relatively little money or for a reasonable trade I'd say go for it.
  6. I guess you have to look at the overall picture: how successful has using the shift been for Francona? Yeah, early on Plameiro did hit one through the big gap, but hasn't it worked more than not? I completely agree with YanksHater, it's up to the pitcher to throw something that will be pulled. Regarding the Palmeiro hit, I think it was Timlin who threw a bad pitch, allowing a crafty veteran like Raffy to find the hole.
  7. The only real knock on Trot is his struggle with left handed pitching. But a season so far with Kapler or Millar in RF makes me miss him more and more. Not to mention his bat in the lineup.
  8. Isn't there some kind of statistical measurement that allows comparisons of this type? I'll be honest, I'm no stat guy, but aren't they called Win Shares?
  9. What's going to happen with the 2nd base position when Nomar comes back from the DL? Since both Pokey and Bellhorn both have their strengths, I'd like to see a situational platoon of both. Who starts depends on basically who's pitching. Pokey starts at 2B when Lowe and Kim pitch. And maybe Bellhorn starts when Curt and Pedro are pitching for example. I just don't want it to be "automatic" that Pokey starts at 2B every night and Bellhorn is on the bench.
  10. If any of you live in the Boston market I think ch 38 replays the game at midnight.
  11. If you notice Mirabelli doesn't wear batting gloves either. I wonder if he does the "piss" thing.
  12. Basically the KC lefty starter had the win till late in the game, thanks especially to some bad defense by the Sox. Wakefield's night was a lot better I think than his box score suggests.
  13. Crespo needs more time in the minors to work on his game. He wasn't all that bad in ST, but he was facing mostly minor league pitching there. He's just another example of how much we need Nomar back.
  14. Big win coming from behind, to walk off 7-6!! http://www.fanmonster.com/images/General_Purpose/emoticon/banana.gif
  15. You should do another poll tomorrw to turn our luck around if we need it.
  16. I voted for Crespo but it didn't give me credit for it. Bellhorn is way better than Crespo and you know damn well it will be Crespo sent down when Nomar comes back. Bellhorn's OBP is fantastic plus he does get a timely hit every now and then. Crespo is like an automatic out and you can tell by how little he's been used lately that Francona has little use for him. Crespo belongs back in AAA to work on his own issues with "fundamentals".
  17. Bellhorn now leads the AL in BB's and K's. And Ortiz still does NOT impress me batting against lefties! One of the reasons why I don't think he's worth big money if the Sox resign him.
  18. Damon seems to have no problem hitting the KC lefty tonight.
  19. Man on man, I disagree with just about everything you said but I don't think this thread is where it should be discussed.
  20. Mueller already has 7 errors. I wonder if he's bothered by some kind of injury because some of the throws to 1st base have been terrible the past couple of weeks. As I recall he did have like a strained muscle from BP.
  21. And this advertising idea will take place during another MLB money-making idea: interleague baseball.
  22. Back in the heyday of Kazaa you could download a full length version of the song.
  23. We need a healthy Ellis Burks or some other right handed pop off the bench.
