  1. Judging by the way Tito has been using these 5 relievers, I’d say his confidence level in each runs in this order: JVB, Seanez, MDC, Tavarez, and Riske.
  2. And the Yankees are losing, the Dirt Bags beat Toronto…sweet!
  3. A Gonz homers...Can I take back my comments about the bottom part of the order being offensively weak?
  4. A 1-2-3 inning for Clement...and did I-Rod bunt? Maybe the free-swinging bats of the Tigers will help Clement today...maybe
  5. And I'm guessing that Varitek is batting 6th which really makes the bottom part of the order "offensively challenged".
  6. Whether or not he ends up drafted by the Sox I wish this local guy all the best. From http://www.unionleader.com/article.aspx?headline=On+Baseball%3A+Pivotal+week+for+Locke+and+other+NH+prospects&articleId=c813faac-b983-4454-b754-a6ca2b0353cb
  7. A solid but wasted effort by Wakefield ends up in a loss thanks to the suddenly cold Sox bats. Is Detroit pitching really this good?
  8. I wonder if this will affect his availability for the upcoming Series against the Sox…
  9. I agree. I thought Pauley would only be up for a spot start, then sent right back. But there aren't really any better options for Tuesday right now. IMO, the Sox FO’s take is that the worse that could happen is that they lose this game with Pauley starting. If you start Lester, the worse case is that you lose and somehow hinder his development. Does this move tells us how little the Sox FO think of Pauley?
  10. Listening to the radio broadcast I heard this factoid: the Tigers have won 11 games this season where they’ve scored three runs or fewer. Amazing in today’s AL, isn’t it?
  11. Wasn’t there some concern felt by Sox management about Pedro’s health back in 2003-2004? As I recall it was discovered that he had a frayed or torn rotator cuff, and because of that he missed time during the 2003 season. There were also reports that there was a noticeable drop in his velocity. Because of these uncertainties of how durable he was, it affected the length of a contract that the Sox would offer him. With that said I think this was the main reason why the Sox offered him what he considered a lowball offer, when his contract expired in 2004. I would LOVE to see him come back and pitch for the Sox in 2009, but I believe in the minds of Sox management they simply don’t think he’ll be effective and healthy. JMO…
  12. Lester was interviewed on WEEI today and this was discussed. Judging by the what he said I think he will pitch in one of those doubleheader games on Saturday 6/10.
  13. I couldn’t find the exact dimensions of the scoreboard anywhere on line so I emailed the Red Sox (from the RedSox.com website, using the Contact Us link). If I get a reply I’ll post it.
  14. He'll be making $22M pro-rated in Houston, which is about $3.67M per month.
  15. Crazy s*** about #21... From the Boston Herald
  16. Given all the Sox have invested to get WMP here I doubt trading him would even be a thought at this point. I wonder if Sox fans would cut him more slack if he hadn't been a part of the Arroyo trade.
  17. WMP is for the future as we really weren't expecting much from him this year. His offense was a pleasant surprise and helped the team when it was needed with Coco out. I think we can only expect his bat to improve as he recovers from the surgery and can hit again completely healthy. I can't wait until he regains his health so we can watch this gifted athlete fully develop.
  18. I kind of thought that at this point in Snow's career that he and Choi would be about a wash defensively.
  19. If Lowell is out for that long, which would likely mean he been disabled, why not call up Choi and give him a shot? At least he can hit...Snow looks toasted. If it's only for a few days we could get by with Snow, or possibly put Papi at 1B and put another hitter in the DH. Snow could the come in as a late inning defensive replacement if necessary.
  20. Any word why Vernon Wells isn’t in the Jay’s lineup?
  21. I’ll admit I don’t know a lot of how the draft works, but are players at this level represented by agents? I ask because I wonder if big name prospects are drafted by lower revenue teams who eventually can’t hold on to them due to sign-ability issues. In other words a team like the Marlins gets a first round pick, only later they find out they can’t/won’t sign the player because of cost demands made by an agent. Edit: I deleted this out of the wrong 'draft' thread and pasted here...
  22. Trot Nixon, 2 for 14 (.143 avg) Double, RBI, 4 Ks With Wily Mo out indefinitely it looks like Trot will be facing a lot of left-handed pitching. As a side note I hope this doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing the recall of Mohr anytime soon.
  23. Good luck to Bruins newly hired GM Peter Chiarelli! Time will tell but who would bet against the notion that he’ll be another Jeremy Jacobs puppet?
  24. Is this an Elton John reference? Like a lot of other borderline teams right now I wonder if/when the Nats will decide their season is over and start their pre-July 31st fire sale?
  25. Just heard on WEEI that Tek, Manny, and Papi lead in their respective positions in the voting so far, but it's still very early.
