  1. At least the injuries that are plaguing the Sox now don't sound very serious with possibly Wells as the exception.
  2. I doubt Foulke is availabe for today as he's played the last 4 games. Lets hope Wake is effective and can go deep into the game.
  3. For the lineup 1 Crisp 2 Loretta 3 Ortiz 4 Youks 5 Lowell 6 Nixon 7 A Gonz 8 Harris 9 Mirabelli Wily Mo is put on the DL today, Manny scratched, and Harris in LF. Also announced Paps has been given the day off.
  4. Neither. Just announced Willy Mo has been disabled.
  5. I wish schill would start today's game thread... Manny won't be in the lineup again today. Along with the sore back, he's experiencing tendonitis in the knee.
  6. It looks like Coco will be making his Fenway debut today! From http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/redSox/?p=316 To make room on the roster I wonder who will be sent down to AAA...
  7. On WEEI Sean McAdam thinks there's a good chance Coco will be in today's game.
  8. Tonight's lineup: LF Youkilis, Kevin 2B Loretta, Mark DH Ortiz, David RF Nixon, Trot C Varitek, Jason 3B Lowell, Mike 1B Snow, JT CF Pena, Wily Mo SS Cora, Alex I'd like to see red hot Mike Lowell batting 4th or 5th, not Tek.
  9. Coco is rehabbing in Pawtucket this weekend: http://www.pawsox.com/
  10. From Buckley's column in the Hearld (that I linked above) he has this:
  11. Manny isn't in the lineup tonight. Youks is in LF. From http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/redSox/?p=313
  12. Quote pulled from http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/05/26/truth.rumors.mlb/index.html I can't see the Sox, while in 1st place on 5/26, trading one of the leagues best hitters. Doesn't make sense...
  13. Yeah, all the signs seem to suggest Clement is a head case and probably the Boston market isn’t the place for him. But I’m still in hopes that given the right balance of managing, coaching, and psychotherapy he can still be a viable option for the Sox rotation. It would be great if Lester was ready for the call but he's only been in AAA for about 6 weeks. He still needs time to develop his secondary pitches. He wasn't a college pitcher and at 22, he still has some maturing to do IMO.
  14. At this point I'm getting tired of the Hendricks group pimping Roger with all of these dog and pony shows that really are just a means of driving up his price. Agreed. This suggests that there is some element where he is looking for the biggest payday so there is still a good chance that he’ll go wherever (Houston, NY, Boston) he’s offered the most money. So with that in mind I wouldn’t mind if the Sox did overpay for his services. And a deal like this wouldn’t involve parting with any prospects. I hope Theo can land him regardless of the $$$. Get it done!
  15. This seems the more likely scenario. Lester would be brought up as spot starter with the full understanding that he's not taking Clement's place permanently. His stay would be extremely limited at first. I'd like to see what Wells has left in his tank before I run Clement out of town. At the same time I hope Theo is looking for a more permanent solution.
  16. Your points are right on! Isn't throwing an unproven prospect out on the mound just as much, if not more, of a gamble as trotting Clement out there every 5 days? Tito and the FO don't want the Cla Meredith redux.
  17. This goes to show the scarcity of decent starting pitching that's out there now when a big money team like the Mets sees El Duque as something good. I would have stuck a fork in this guy years ago.
  18. I’d like to see the Sox continue with Clement but with Tito pulling him out of the game quicker if he starts to show signs of blowing up. He does have good stuff when he’s on. Relying on unproven prospects to fill the holes in the rotation doesn’t seem to be the solution at this point in the season.
  19. Editing this to acknowledge the realtively small sample size to compare Belli v Bard...
  20. Watching last night's game has caused me to wonder how much better/worse/same Wakefield's performance has been since the return of Mirabelli. Are there any pitching stats (like better ERA with Belli than with Bard) that substantiate his return as an improvement?
  21. A few positives from the game: An effective outing from Schilling with a relatively low pitch count, no walks, good control, and most importantly he was able to put the Yankees away, unlike his last start against them. Many 0-2 hits for the Sox, as was pointed out earlier on in this thread. Manny breaking out of his offensive slump with 3 RBI.
  22. For the sake of saving his arm for the fall, I'd like to see him used a bit more sparingly early on this year.
  23. I'm thinking the Sox are in good shape pitching-wise once some of the "stiffs" are sent down to Pawtucket.
  24. Just wondering... Is DiNardo out of options which would prevent him being sent down to AAA?
