  1. I know. I said we couldnt blame ALL of our losses on our hitters. Some blame rests on their shoulders, thats for sure. And Mirabellis sucks. As yeszir said, we were all expecting a dp out of him. Sorry for the disjointedness of this post, I'm just trying to do 8 things at once.
  2. Why? Losing tonight would have me questioning the pitching. Although I do see what you are saying (texas has a mighty potent offense), we cant blame all of the losses on our hitters. Plus wake looks on right now. On a side note, I hate national broadcasts. Remy and Orsillo know so much more regarding the sox. And I can tell that all they're gonna talk about is the pedro contract thing!
  3. I've always been against the modern 14-12 slugfest. I'd much rather see a 4-2 game. One: It's more exciting, Two: Pitching actually matters. While I dont think a metal bat will turn a poor highschool player into Barry Bonds, it will help with the bat speed and the power. But that brings up a safety issue. If a ball comes off of an aluminum bat at 100 mph (just an estimate) as opposed to 80 mph from a wooden bat, thats a big difference. It can mean the difference between getting hit in the face Bryce Florie style and making an out, or dodging an oncoming ball. I think wooden bats should be used in all levels of baseball. It makes for a better game, better pitching, and is much safer. Plus, the sound of a ball hitting a metal bat is annoying.
  4. I'm so out of it. Wake is pitching tonight? Didnt Pedro go last night? What's going on!
  5. Me neither. I hadn't heard of anything before. He did, GASP, say he like the yankees did he?
  6. This was a good call. The sox are struggling with Texas right now!
  7. The fact that he'll miss half of this season won't necessarily affect his future contract I don't think. It may make him more willing to negotiate, which could possibly lead to a lower price, but I doubt it. He's a baseball player. Baseball players are selfish. I really want Nomar signed. Of all the free agents, I'd like to see him back in Boston the most. Its a shame that in possibly his last season with the Sox he's out until June.
  8. I know what you mean. I get that feeling with every team. I'm watching a game and all that I can think of is that I'm watching the "other guys". The teams that want to beat the Red Sox and go on with their own personal agenda. That sure takes the fun out of watching baseball games, lol.
  9. Well, the streak is now over. Oh well, so long as we bounce back from this Texas series and continue to pitch well, I'm fine. Streaks dont last forever, as someone said before, so we need to move on and start winning again.
  10. I too read that article in the globe. I can't believe this guy. He comes out and bitches, and then he goes out and pitches a s***** game against the rangers. He's the most spoiled, pampered, annoying player in baseball. It's a damn shame that hes a great pitcher or else I could really really REALLY hate him. But I'm torn. What's better, a low 2 era or not having this whiny baby on our team?
  11. So I've heard once or twice that Nomar will be out till mid to late June. Has anyone heard anything else on this?
  12. Lol, whoa, I'm glad that was sorted out. Anyway, I'm certainly excited for Arroyo's start. If he really shuts down the rangers and proves himself as an excellent #5, I think Kim's in trouble. Is a trade in the future if Arroyo can consistently pitch well?
  13. Me too. A-Rod's been hitting and Jeter hit a home run and suddenly, they dont hate themselves anymore. What happened to the "I'm giving up on this team and never looking back" fans? Have they returned to their old, evil ways?
  14. Lol yawkeyway, wtf. Anyway, a bit useless, but cool trivia nonetheless.
  15. Give me a few more weeks and I'll tell you. They're well rounded, thats for sure. As you said, they have no real weaknesses at all. Not even defense, with Pokey turning at least one great double play every game and people diving left and right. All I'll say for now is: It's a great season to be a Red Sox fan.
  16. I dont know if the sox snapped out of their offensive "funk". I know it sounds crazy talking about a team that just scored 7 runs in the first inning, but they haven't scored yet. It kinda all came at once. If they were truly on track, they'd be hitting constantly, getting runs in all, or at least different, innings. We'll have to see in games to come, but the offense is certainly on the upswing, I'll give them that. And D-Lowe is pitching decently well.
  17. Unfortunately, he did get that HR, but the yankees are still losing! Damn, I was quite enjoying his struggles at the plate.
  18. Lol. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention that yet. Anyway, I'll definitely be seeing it close to official launch date. Game 7 doesnt scare me enough to take away from a great season. I'll enjoy it up to that part, thats for sure.
  19. Last year's team was undoubtedbly one of the best Sox hitting teams of all time, but we had some weaknesses (namely the bullpen/closer thing and some starting rotation weakness). But this year's team is well rounded and complete. I really see no holes whatsoever, and thats WITHOUT nomar and Trot. So the question I have is: Is this the best Red Sox team ever? I know it's early in the season, and I may be jumping the gun and jinxing the whole thing (if you're superstiscious like that). I think it may well be. This is a world series caliber team, especially with the pitching that we have. I can't think of any trade deadline moves that we'd need to make, but thats a long ways off and another topic altogether.
  20. Oh well, you knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Streaks dont last forever, thats why they are called streaks. And I'd trade that AND the bullpen's streak for our hitting now. We've certainly snapped out of the funk, with 7 runs in the first inning! Tek with the homer, and....wait for it.... Pokey Reese of all people with 2 rbi. Even though its against the D-Rays, runs are runs and a game like this (so far, at least) can really get us back on track.
  21. Not really related, but I guess that people won't be diving into the cove to chase after every one of BB's homerun balls now: Deisel spill And I, too, thought supplements = steroids. I dont know what you're talking about calvnhobs6. But he is amazing to watch, steroids or not. You have to give him that at least.
  22. I liked what I saw today, even if his outing was a little bit limited. I, too, ahve always liked BK. I just somehow know that he will snap out of whatever was slowing him down as a reliever in the past and shine in the starting rotation. He'll do great things in the future, as roary said. It's also a plus to have that submarine style pitcher there in the rotation, because it gives batters a very different kind of look during games. Imagine facing that at number five and then faving pedro and schilling at 1 and 2. Nasty.
  23. I find this truly amazing. The sox are now the most dominant pitching team in all of baseball. The starters and relievers have a total of 62 1/3 scoreless innings in a row (not consecutive, but seperately, if you know what I mean) as you pointed out RSR. Its amazing. For so long it was "pedro and pray for rain" and the media was talking about how crappy our pitching was. Last year our bullpen was plain weak, the year before even worse. The whole closer by committee thing. And now? Pow, lights out from everyone. Even BK, who we were unsure about coming back after a stint on the DL. It's amazing, and lucky too, considering how poor our offense has been playing as of late.
