  1. Best days are behind him.... hmmmm. reminscent of Roger Clemens anyone? But if its between Lowe or Pedro, I choose Pedro, especially after tonight.
  2. I thought all along he was downplaying the importance of his hair, saying it wasnt a big deal, trying to talk about other topics. He basically said "leave me alone about my hair, I'll cut it when I want to". I had heard charities being mentioned, but I think he was somewhat against the idea because it was blowing his hair out of proportion. Now he goes and does this. I'm sure we'll get to see it a million times on NESN and ESPN, and the entire world will stop because a baseball player shaved his beard. :damon:
  3. A-Rod must've been acting way off base to demand the tape destroyed. It was probably something he didnt want the fans to see to ruin his "nice guy" image. I bet he blew up at the "sox fan".
  4. Damn. He gave in. I was hoping he'd last longer and not give in to pressure. :damon:
  5. Haha, ok. Well, I consider their question answered then.
  6. Lol, this seems completely random. What makes you say he does? And who asked?
  7. Just start one. Mods can take care of spam I guess. If it's a thread encouraging links, then I dont think anything can qualify as "spam" in it. Maybe just limit it to sox blogs/news sources rather than other message boards, because that could possibly lead to spam.
  8. I know this is relatively old, but he must be so embarassed. Going from "the best pitcher in Cuba" to single A in the yankees system is a big jump. Either way, I'm glad the sox didnt pick him up. Plus they made the Yankees pay more for him.
  9. I read bambinoscurse, www.joyofsox.blogpsot.com and a few others that I click on randomly. Of course, i do the bdd thing, but thats more for the clever headlines. Soxaholix looks interesting, I'd never heard of it before.
  10. Haha, this is true. Bigger chance of getting injured as well.
  11. Streakiness is part of the game, but I attribute that 5 game losing streak against TX and CLE to the double headers. Not playing at all and then playing twice in one day can really get to you. It's like jet lag, ya know? It messes with your internal systems.
  12. I recall Duquette proclaiming him as being "in the twilight of his career". Boy, was he EVER wrong. Judging from that quotation alone, I guess they really thought he was washed up. You don't give up a player of that calibre if you think he's too intense... intensity is a good thing! Right. 20 years from now, we won't remember Clemens as a bad guy, even if he shuns Boston for the hall of fame. We'll remember him as one of the greatest sox pitchers ever (right up there with Pedro Martinez). I doubt that the sox will ever have as dominant of a pitcher as he was ever again. Ted Williams HATED the media when he played here (not that I was alive then, but so I've heard). He refused to speak and constantly blew up at them. We dont remember him as "Hot head williams" though. He's the greatest hitter who ever lived.
  13. I never really liked this Q and A type of thing, but this was alright. But I don't see a way for the sox to manipulate their own rules and find a way for clemens' number to be retired. If he isnt in the HOF as a Red Sock, he can't be retired. Period.
  14. In 3 years time you'll be regretting the Kim bashing when hes on the yankees, getting 10 k's/9 innings, has a low 3 ERA and wins a ton. Oh wait, thats what he does now. (look at seasons past). Mendoza, yea fine, get rid of him. Our bullpen is fine as it is, and we don't need this yankee sympathizer on our team. Maybe for now Bronson should get the nod over kim, but Kim should start in the future.
  15. You say this now... He'll be a great starter in the years to come, you'll see.
  16. Damn. Another run in for Cleveland. 7-5. Dinardo is out now, Embree is coming in now.
  17. At least its a close game now, right?
  18. I don't know how I feel about Clemens. I can't argue with the stats, he's pitching amazingly, maybe the best of his career. I just can't get over the fact that, at one point in his career, he was a yankee! Same with Wade Boggs! MFY!
  19. http://www.boston.com/sports/nesn/remy/05_10_04/ This addresses a lot of the things that I've been thinking about. A very interesting read if you ask me. Good to know that Remy doesnt completely buy into moneyball either.
  20. It is annoying. And it just happened again. We went down 4-2, and then came back 4-4. It DOES seem like a waste of runs if all you're ever trying to do is not lose to the Guardians, doesn't it?
  21. I'm in the small minority that believe moneyball is complete and utter horseshit. Swinging on 3-0 is the best call any manager can give any player. You know it'll be in the zone for the most part, and you know it'll be straight. So why hope that the pitcher miss, or why wait for another good pitch to hit? Dauber just got that hit as you said. I haven't noticed tito giving it that much this season, but maybe I haven't been looking that closely into it. There's nothing I hate more than a 3-0 count running full after two little league pitches float across the plate.
  22. Nice change, makes it look much nicer. I hope it turns out to be really nice and active. Glad to see a member of RSN could help you out too!
  23. DAMN! Another two runs! Kim is not looking good at all right now!
  24. Yea, the way he pitched last night, let him walk! He isnt worth the x million dollars he wants. Maybe if he continues to tank, the price would go down, and then Theo can realize that he may get better and sign him for a lower price. But I hope he just walks. You bitch about money and I hate you.
