I can still see him pinch hitting now and then, maybe DHing to give someone a rest somewhere. I'm not sure how long he'll be out though. If its a long time, then he may not play again.

I feel for our losing brothers, the cubs, and choose them to prevail over whatever AL team they face. I just dont want to jinx the sox like all of you are doing. Seeing the cubs win wouldnt be too bad I guess, provided the team they beat isnt ours.

He was a rule 5 pick from the mets who is destined to be an odd man out on this team when everyone comes back. Its unortunate because he did pitch well in that outing. Oh well, you lose some players, thats life I guess.

I actually agree with yagmaster. I think Tek is just a smidgeon overrated. His talked about as being so underrated, but he now commands the attention of all of RSN, and he isnt THAT great. Theres another aspect to baseball other than defense, and his hitting isnt that great. I think he peaked last year. I still love him though, dont get me wrong.

I echo this. Plus, hes really starting to improve offensively. I remember a few years back I used to consider him and automatic out. "o great, its Varitek, lets go get something to eat". Stuff like that. But now he's good enough to be in the header of this site I see. . Anyway, to call him overrated is wrong in my mind. But I guess I do see how all of the "underrated" talk could lead to someone thinking he was overrated in the sense of being called underrated all the time. Haha, what a mouthful!

Alright, now that we've seen a little bit of the season, I think we can revive this and make a second round of predictions, right? I say sox over astros in the world series, to continue the optimism

That was just pathetic. PATHETIC. I find this funny though. The celtics just got swept in the playoffs, yet no one seems to be talking about it. But the Red Sox just swept the yankees in an APRIL game, and its all anyone is talking about. I can't complain, as I like baseball more than basketball, I just find it funny that the sox beating the yankees is such a momentous event in Boston that playoff basketball can't be thought about. (And the bruins lost too dontchaknow)

Shoppach comes after tek, like Zenny said. I dont want Tek gone, but if Shoppach can call a game then he'd be great. Plus, Tek = Boras if I'm not mistaken, and Boras is a money grubbing bastard.

Is it just me or has Manny been talking a lot more. He actually has some pretty interesting stuff to say, if you can get around the "let me tell you"s that he uses to start every sentence. I didn't know he could speak english so well. My favorite was when I think Castiglione asked him about his HR ball turned easy out, and he said he just wasn't hitting well. Any thoughts on this "new" manny?

Mueller's been one of the top hitters on the sox so far, so it was a little strange to see him sit out the final game of a yankees series, but I guess Tito wanted him to have two days of rest in a row. Manny essentially was rested when he was DHed yesterday, and he has another day off tomorrow. A well rested ballclub is a happy ballclub I guess.

This pitching staff with nomar and nixon added gives us a chance to sweep EVERY series. And the upcoming series are great for the sox.

Most important is that the yankees face the big three of Oakland for their next three games, while our great rotation doesn't have to. We get to face Tampa Bay. Thats basically a great shot for another 3 games to add on to our lead over the spankees. The future (or the immediate future at least) looks bright for the sox!

How do you refer to one player on the sox? A red sox player, a red sock, or just a red sox. Everyone always has difficulty with this, so maybe we could institute a board-wide policy for some fun? Heck, maybe it'll eventually be accepted as the norm. I say: Red Sock.

It amazes me that the sox can play so poorly (we had 4 hits, come on) and still beat out the Yankees. This is exactly why I dont expect it to last. Its not like we blasted them to the moon, destroyed their pitching, and made fools of their batters. The yankees are just in a rotten funk now, and maybe thats why we haven't gotten a lot of offense against them, like a mental thing or something. Kind of like how Pedro used to never get any run support.

Now its turning into more of a self-loathing "I hate this team" type of attitude. I cant complain. Yankee fans are now seeing what its like to be a Red Sox fan.

We dont really have that easy of a schedule though. All we are doing is playing cleveland and Tampa Bay once. The yankees play Tampa Bay and Texas. Althou ours is a slightly easier one, and the yankees are slumping like crazy, I dont think either team has THAT much of a advantage or disadvantage in the schedule. Would Bud Selig really approve a schedule that gives unfair matchups to the yankees and red sox? He knows that those two teams mean too much to baseball to give one of them easy victories while the other toils away. At least, I hope he does.

It is fun to see him succeed on another team after leaving the yankees. And, redsoxrooter, you said he was a sox prospect HOfer. Although that is true (he was brought up by the sox), he far and away does not want to enter the HOF in a Red Sox hat. He's said that he'd boycott the ceremony if he was forced to go in as a Red Sock. So, I still hate him.

What do you think the spankee fans will do when Pedro takes the mound? Will they jeer and boo or will they realize that the sox have been shutting their team down mercilessly and they have no right to boo? Either way, I look forward to pedro shutting them down. YES! Commence the mass suicides in NY! Jeter's 0-21 in his last 21 at bats! Thats hot. WOW. Poorly played game, but I'm glad it went our way. Phew. Now I can rest.
