  1. D'Amico's line against Boston in his career: G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA vs.BOS 4 4 0 3 0 0 0 22.0 31 19 19 7 3 14 7.77 1.55 .333 A horrible ERA, a ridiculously high BAA. If the sox can carry over the offensive prowess of last night's 9th inning, then we can be set. And if we get good pitching out of BK, I bet our lineup could score at LEASt 4 runs tonight, so we can win. And Redsox24, why dont you see us beating C.C? He isnt that great of a pitcher you know.
  2. Good point man, we don't want to be the yankees. But as far as the legends park or whatever, we have something maybe even worse. The Red Sox hall of fame commemerates anyone who basically ever played on the sox. It's like a shrine to the mediocre. And as far as captaining goes, I dont see anyone fit on the sox to be a captain. There arent many people in baseball who can be both on and off the field leaders. Its a tough thing to do.
  3. 7-1. Ouch. Dammit. Martinez is on fire for the Guardians, and Lowe is going down in flames.
  4. 6-1. With our offense, its pretty safe to say its over now. This is a shame. A 4 run fourth so far for the tribe.
  5. http://espn.go.com/classic/obit/s/2004/0504/1795356.html The man who managed the sox from 74-75, and lead the team during their near world series win (and watched Fisk's shot from the dugout) died today. Sad to lose a member of the Red Sox family. RIP Darrell.
  6. hahaha. Yea! A bartender macing customers left and right. Thats a great idea!
  7. I say no. I think it does elevate a player above the others. Look at jeter. He sucks over there in New York, but he's the captain, and the captain is the best. Most people will name Jeter as their favorite yankee. He's far from the best player, and I think it would only detract from a team's unity if one player is designated the "captain" per say. If someone wants to lead, they should do so on their own, and lead by example. The natural leader of the team could be anyone. I think it should be nomar (remember him, he played for us last year and some years before, he was a decent hitter. People tend to have forgotten about him this year).

Although I've never used it, some friends have and they speak highly of it. Its probably the best way to get great tickets directly from season ticket holders. I'd recommend it, based on what I've heard.
  9. This is true, the sox have scored 7,11,3,10 runs in his outings this season. They're gonna need more runs now, as they just got ANOTHER hit. Today is not his best start for sure. This doesnt count as bleeding for someone to stop. Its a serious wound with gushing blood. We need one big ass ace bandage to fix this thing.
  10. You beat me too it. And Derek Lowe has TERRIBLE stats this year, I hadn't noticed. He has about 12 hits per 9 innings given up so far this year, and about 4 walks per game. He has a 4.98 ERA. He needs to return back to no-hitter form if he wants to be resigned for a lot of money by the sox.
  11. Damn. One hit sox, two hits Guardians. Matt Lauten scores on Vizquel's double. What the hell. This is going to be one more of those games. As far as importance of this one goes, it really isnt that important if you think about it. It's just a matter of momentum. I'd say the most important game was all of the ones in the yankee series at new york. It scared yankee fans, and gave us some confidence when playing against them. Now vizquel on 3rd one out. Damn, whats going on Lowe.
  12. Mention the past two world series that they've lost, and see what they say. I'm sure they'll be pissed about Mariono Rivera blowing it in 2001, and the Marlins beating them horribly last year.
  13. Hopefully trot and nomar will be big re-additions to the lineup. We're tanking right now. Our showing for the past week has been horrible. Losing 4 in a row to Texas and to Cleveland is shameful. The team is ridiculously inconsistent, scoring 5 runs in one inning and then not scoring for games and games. We need consistent, hot bats. I think a lot of players are in funks right now, but I dont really know whom to assign blame to. Is it Tito's fault?
  14. This guy is absolutely tearing it up down there in Houston. And I don't know what to think. Do you root for him now that he isnt a yankee anymore or what? He has a 1.95 ERA and just about 9 k/9ip. It's amazing. We all thought he was up and retired, and he's pitching some of the best baseball in his career. Does the move "closer to home" have anything to do with it?
  15. Have you seen Pedro pitch this year? The thing with him is, it doesnt matter what he throws, he can consistently get guys out. I dont care if its 88, 78, or 98. He's smart and can locate his pitches. In the first few starts, yes, he was down at 88, but he has since kicked it up and is now throwing 90-91. Point is, I'd rather have Pedro on this team now than most any other pitcher in baseball. As for Tek, I'd love to see him re-sign, but two things stand in the way: 1) Scott Boras 2) Kelly Shoppach I've heard great things about Shoppach and I would love to see him on the sox in the future. I don't know where that leaves Tek though. Although he is a great player, he may now want to sign for one more year, and he may not be worth the money.
  16. I'm lost amid the Florida talk. But welcome to the site. I see you've already gotten in the thick of things and have started posting a bunch. We appreciate the company.
  17. you have a cow? Anyway, this is painful to watch! The Guardians have more hits off of schilling than the sox have off of Westbrook. I know he has a great ERA this year, but in his career his ERA is up there at 4.95! The sox should be able to eat this guy up! We're starting to develop some serious offensive problems. Any rally we mount gets immediately shot down by the likes of Crespo, and the hard work from the contributing members of the team is all for nothing. And another thing, sox bats (in the past) have hit .344 off of Westbrook. He really isnt that great of a pitcher. His numbers are inflated, well, deflated, because he pitched only against Detroit and Minnesota. The sox SHOULD destroy him. I'm getting angrier and angrier.
  18. Crespo's on base percentage over the last 3 years is .285. He's hit .196. Really, anything is better than him at this point. In his career with the bases loaded (6 at bats) he has no hits and 4 strikeouts. He's the biggest choke artist of all time. Actually, I take that back. He isnt good enough to joke. Anything thrown his way is an automatic out. Teams should just pitch it right down the middle. Or maybe they should intentionally walk him, as that would almost surely result in an out (somehow). This guy has 7 hits all season in 43 at bats! One for extra bases! He's a double A player at best.
  19. Yea! Ps: I hear pedro's shoulder is acting up!
  20. I prefer Jasper White's summer shack for seafood if you want to go all out and spend an entire week's worth of pay. Its what I do, but the lobster is worth it!
  21. While your kids will hear worse things at school for sure, I think it's a legitimate concern to have. Why force the uncomfortable situation of sitting with your kids, listening to some guy swear his face off behind you. The yankees suck cheer isnt going away however. While it doesnt bother me, some people are fondly attached to it and wouldnt give it up for the world. Its just one of the facts of life that you need to live with I guess.
  22. Damn, thats scary. He was the interim GM after duquette and before Theo, yes? I hope he gets better soon.
  23. To keep Pedro on the team, check it out: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1794348
  24. lol. Serious or not, he brings up a good point though. Although I dont view it as such, and it really doesnt bother me, it could be viewed as innapropriate by some. After all, there are kids in attendance, and screaming out "f*** YOU JETER" isn't the best thing in the world to do when a 5 year old kid is standing next to you, getting soaked in your beer.
  25. aint it the truth. He could have walked, or gotten hbp. If he got hit, he may have been injured, and that may have led to him not getting to play on the team anymore....
