  1. Why does Tito love the shift so much? It sems that whenever a lefty is up, pokey reese is standing waaaaay over next to second base and in the outfield, leaving a humungous gap where he is supposed to be. This always makes me extremely nervous, especially in the later innings of a close game. I remember earlier in the season Rafael Palmeiro hit one through the gap created by a shift and the O's went on to win. That's exactly why I don't like the shift. It creates too big of a risk. Is it really worth it to cover the right side of the infield when the left side is so open? Although you might get lefties trying to hit to the opposite field resulting in more outs, it still seems stupid. I've seen it happen countless times during games, and I don't recall ever having seen it happen this much during a season before.
  2. I have no idea what any of you are talking about. But thats a nice looking mets forum there Conig2. If it had some members it would be a very nice place. But its new, so that's understandable. Also, I dont really like that box up top with the icons and the links to the mets forum. Its hard to see that those are links to individual forums. Welcome btw!
  3. I missed the whole thing as well. Oh well, with the eighteen hours of post game coverage I get to see the important plays over and over and over again. Hey, I can't complain! I liked to see Manny hustling around 3rd to score that winning run, that had the potential to be a close play at the plate.
  4. I decided not to vote after reading your entire post . It is impossible to compare the value of a hitter to that of a pitcher, unless its Manny Ramirez to John Wasdin. They have completely different stats, have completely different effects on the game, play with a different frequency, etc. Who do I LIKE more? Pedro. Who is more valuable? I have no idea.
  5. Well then, lock me up, throw away the key, and call me Benedict. I prefer Tim Wakefield.
  6. But at least it hasnt worked yet, right? I mean, who here has ever been to Foxwoods? I never have. But I may want to go in the future to play some of the table games if I get good enough. I can legitimately see myself winning a few bucks at low limit poker. But I wouldnt go because of the ads. At least, thats what I think. What's stopping me from going to Mohegan sun? I guess they dont have the corks a poppin and the fingers a snappin.
  7. Chalk one up on the overrated tally. He's a great player, yes, but I think people are giving him way too much credit. Look at his stats, mediocre. Plus he also has an attitude, not towards teammates, but towards baseball in general. I've hated him ever since his "screw stolen bases and singles, I want to hit home runs" quote. He said it I think two years ago and has pissed me off ever since.

    stubhub?

Sorry to be of no help whatsoever, but I've never even heard of it. It does look cool, and it has a nice selection of tickets, but I havent heard of someone using it. I'd trust it though, looks nice and professional.
  9. ground out ground out ground out ground out ground out ground out. Damn. Its all groundouts. Ortiz and Manny both. 2 runs is nothing when you have Pedro on the hill, but still. We should, in theory, have beaten up on this team all 4 games, but with the exception of last night, we were/are the ones being tossed around. This needs to stop now.
  10. Of course you have to win the division to ensure a playoff spot, thats why its ensured. Do the sox have a chance at the playoffs if they dont win the division? Yes. Is it ensured? No. Is it most likely? Yes. For all of the reasons pointed out earlier, the fierce competition out west, the relative suckiness of the central. The wild card belongs in the East. Unless the Yankees are vying for it. Then it belongs in the Central.
  11. Wow, I wasn't even aware that this happened. This makes me GLAD that the sox got "beat out" by the yankees in the bidding war. Talk about unlucky, paying 6 mil for a single A player. But I can't complain! It happened to the yankees after all. It's a good thing.
  12. Lol, this seems a bit off topic, but they are annoying. ESPECIALLY the one without words. They basically took the old footage that had words, rearranged the clips, made it more annoying, and put text on top.
  13. He's probably being rested. He's played a lot recently, I think. I hate it when the sox have to fight from behind. It seems like they always dig themselves into a hole and must scratch and claw to get back.
  14. One game isnt enough to prove or dissprove anything. They've still done a lot more bad than good this year (I point out mueller's two errors from yesterday). Sure, this can start to get us back on track, but its only one game that came after so many terrible ones, we have to remember that.
  15. I've heard horror stories from aluminum bats in little league. I think wood tops all. So what if wooden bats are usualy heavier and more unwieldy? They can be engineered to be lighter. Make 'em hollow for little league, or go Sammy Sosa style and put cork in them. Safety first.
  16. Thats what we all do, no shame in that I guess.
  17. Zito has been struggling of late, we'll have to see how he pitches against NY tonight to see if we want him in town. And this is all assuming we lose Pedro you know. If Manny doesnt end up postponing his payment (which is what will most likely happen), then we have a shot at signing these other players still. This would just make it easier.
  18. Nice. The sox are now 2-2 with RISP, and we've scored 4 in this one inning. Hopefully they can keep the pressure on and continue to score runs throughout the game. It seems that they've been scoring in spurts all season long. I'd prefer one or two runs here, another couple there, that way we dont always have to fight back or protect a lead. But, if today gets us on the right track, then I'm all for it.
  19. I'm glad to hear he's ok. I got scared when I heard this. Dealing with heart attacks is never fun.
  20. He's awesome and expensive. I don't think the sox should spend the 15 mil it would take to get him when we already have a mighty capable outfield. Spend the money where it is needed most, and fill the holes that are created by our FAs. We cant just snatch up whoever's "good" if it doesnt fit what the team needs.
  21. I didn't know Mecir threw a screwball yawkeyway. Thats pretty cool. I hadn't read that article before, but it does make sense. All of the "out" pitches have extreme amounts of movement on them, so it follows that most good pitches would. Straight, hard fastballs get crushed in the majors, so it is crucial that a fastball do something, whether it runs in on the hitter or dips below the bat.
  22. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylc=X3oD...ov=ap&type=lgns Why would baseball do this? It takes away from the integrity of a game when you have to see advertisements BELOW PLAYERS' FEET! 100,000 woohoo, lets completely give away any shred of dignity we had left so we can buy socks for the AA team. Good grief.
