  1. I agree with what Duffycliff said, RJ deserves to be the strikeout "heir" to Carlton much more than that fat slob Clemens. He did it in a shorter career, and he has always been known as a fearsome striekout fireballer, much more so than Clemens. Plus he was a lefty, which is just cool.
  2. Right. No catcher can go all games, or even the vast majority (150+), its just impossible. The position, the strain, the intensity: its all way too much. Getting Tek every 5 days off is good for him and good for the team. What we lose when mirabelli plays we get back to a greater extent when Varitek plays healthy and rested.
  3. Aw, come on. The fans deserved that. We treated him in a completely dickish manner last year. He didnt pitch well, but he certainly will in the future. I've always been a big supporter of him, and he'll show great things in the future. One incident like that shouldn't be the end of him in people's minds.
  4. Wow, its also 23 (almost) innings of scoreless baseball by the ENTIRE pitching staff. Thats 23 innings in which no run has been given up by the sox. Impressive if you ask me, considering the weakness of the pitching staff behind pedro used to be what everyone talked about when they talkedsox.
  5. Hi. Nice site, but it isnt updated often as you say. I also notice your forums link back here. I'm sure you'll eventually find some writers here. We love our sawx.
  6. Finally. Just as soon as I post bellhorn got the single scoring 2. Thats his first hit from the right side. Again, finally. We're finally starting to capitalize with RISP. I hope we keep it up from now on, sheesh.
  7. Come on, we need to capitalize, bases loaded. Its something we havent done all season and we need to get out of the funk!
  8. Ooo, Bosoxguru, I'm impressed that you got into the premiere. I, like most of us peeons, will have to wait for the Massachusetts date of May 7th to see it. Where was the premiere? I just went on the assumption that it was at Boston Common theater, I dont know why though. Anyway, glad you liked it. I cant wait to see it, despite what happens at the end. I'm sure the behinds the scene stuff will be great.
  9. 19 of the past 25 years is impressive! That does indeed sound like a very cool job to have, and I'm sure its a great way to stay fit as well. It sure beats the stairmaster I bet. Anyway, as yeszir said, welcome to the site. I bet there aren't too many sox fans in Colorado, but the series later on in the year over there is certainly exciting. I'd like to see Manny hit it a mile in that Colorado air. Welcome to the site, enjoy yourself here.
  10. We finally get to face the D-Rays after last night's postponement. Schilling gets the start against Abbott. Should be an easy victory, or at least I hope so. I wonder how many innings schilling will go, or how many he'll want to go. Do you think he still has that complete game mentality after last week's fiasco? In any case, it should be fun to see him mow down those devil ray hitters.

    Boston

I wasn't aware of an English Boston. Hmmm. I guess I'll have to visit sometime, and hand our Red Sox hats.
  12. Yup, as long as he hits, I can't complain. He could really make a website saying he hates us all, but if he hits 45 homers and gets 120 rbis, I'll love him for it!
  13. Whoa! 23rd! What are they thinking! Its like jinxing it completely! They're so close to the bottom 5, its awesome. To see them down their with Royals and Expos would be great. And they're only one above the D-Rays! But last night they starting hitting well, so I think they're beginning to come out of their funk.
  14. Even though he can't hit, his even .400 OBP is mighy appealing. OPS, not so much so (.715), but he gets on base and that means he can be placed early in the lineup. Batting second is good for him. I really wouldn't mind seeing him in their every day until the sox come back full strength. And even after then, he may start hitting soon and would do well near the bottom of the order.
  15. Lol, no offense, but thats the crappiliest made avatar I've ever seen. But if I had to guess, I'd say it was Johnny Damon.
  16. Oh no, two days without baseball now! This is turning into that span of 3 or 4 days we had off 2 weeks ago. I can't stand it!
  17. I hate how Wake is solely caught by Mirabelli. I'd MUCH rather see the better hitting, better defending Varitek in there than Mirabelli. I understand that it gets him playing time, and that he has been catching Wake for a while, and that he's his "personal catcher" and whatnot, but the fact of the matter is, I don't want to see him playing when Varitek is sitting, perfectly fine, on the bench. I dont know. Mirabelli doesnt suck, I'll give him that, but Varitek is better. Especially in important games dammit!
  18. CBS sportsline's power rankings: http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/7286312 Sox at first, yankees are at four.......teenth.
  19. Damn the rain delay. WHOA. A huge bolt of lightning just hit right near my house and the radio that I was listening to made a crackling noise for 10 seconds. Thats freaky.
  20. What do you think of this constantly walking Todd Walker look-alike? He gets on base a fair amount through walks (from bosoxguru's website, I see theres only one game in which he hasn't been on base. On the flip side, he's hitting below the mendoza line. So, what do you think about him. Can poppa jack turn him around and get him hitting mit 200's, or will we see poor hitting, a good eye, and above par fielding for the rest of the season?
  21. Well I guess he's learned, because he can speak it relatively well now. He's certainly been able to hold his own with the media in terms of the language. And Pedro cant use that as an excuse! He's compeltely fluent in English. He sounds smart when he speaks, because he is. He has completely control of the language. It was obvious when he used to speak with the media. He cant hind behind the language barrier. I understand if he doesnt want to speak to someone like Dan Shaughnessy, but not because of language. :damon: (sorry, I just wanted to test out the damon emoticon).
  22. Hey, the devil rays aren't in last place at least, and they're tied with the yankees in the division. Hopefully we can manhandle them like we did the Yankees and coast on to 3 easy victories. But it seems like the Devil Rays occasionally give us trouble, and they're never the easy win that they should really be. Maybe its just my imagination though.
  23. Game logs are a novel idea, I've never seen them before. But it doesn't seem like Manny would have a part in that. I bet his agent or someone types em up, runs it by him, he nods while in the jacuzzi, and it goes online. At least Manny's making some effort for the fans. Not too many ballplayers have nice websites. But then again, not too many ball players are like Manny.
  24. Red Soxk, lets stick with that. I'm with yawkeyway and Roary.
