  1. Although it is definitely exciting to see, I dont see the point in it. Maybe it influences the ump's decision, pushing it a little bit more in favor of the player? It also excites the fans. Too me though, it is worth the risk.

    ootp 6

I downloaded the demo for 5 at your recommendation, and love it. A pruchase of 6 cannot be far off. I would most likely participate in a league as well roary. It sounds interesting. It would be with real players via a roster download, right?
  3. Although Schilling was great, he's been walking so many guys. Last year I think he had something like 16 walks all season, and here he goes and walks 4 in one game. What is it? Is it pitching in Boston? Is he trying to paint the corners more? Well, as long as he pitches well I cant really complain. It was just something that struck me as odd.
  4. I'm scared now, the habs have forced a game seven and the Bruins are certainly not playing top-notch hockey. Hopefully we can squeek it out and move on. It would be a shame to lose 3 in a row.
  5. Wow, from the land down under! RSN is truly a global community.
  6. This guy has really impressed me so far. He's thrown four perfect innings. It's important to have a good left hander in the bullpen (Embree included), and I think he fits well with what the team needs. I may be crazy, but the way he looks and his delivery (especially his curve) reminds me of Casey Fossum, who I liked a lot. Anyway, I hope all works out with him for this season. I'd like to see him succeed.
  7. I am by no means complaining, I'm just curious as to why this always happens. In Boston, whenever a player blows it. Whenever they ruin a season and lead us to our doom, the fans always seem to forgive them, or for the next season at least. In 87 Buckner was well recieved by the fans, after making that error. (side note, do you know he had 2715 hits in his career?). Last year Wake gave up the homerun to Boone and no one has any hard feelings against him now. In fact, we are all far from it. We praise him at every chance we get. (read this article: http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=771). Anyway, aren't we supposed to be a ruthless bunch in RSN, not tolerant of mistakes and unwilling to forgive. Sure Buckner takes a whole lot of flack now for what happened, but not from me. That game wasn't truly his fault, and he was a great great great player. What is it then? Why aren't we the stereotypical *******s that we are supposed to be?

    ootp 6

Out of the park 6 was released yesterday at www.ootp5.com. It is an amazing baseball management/simulator, and if you haven't already, I HIGHLY recommend that you check it out. I have 5 and I've been addicted for quite some time. Just navigate to the "downloads" page if you want to download it, but check out the screens/info first. If enough people want to, I may be willing to do a "talksox ootp league" where everyone takes a team and we run a league using those players. But only if you guys want.
  9. Yea, I smiled when A-Rod was booed (it was really one of the loudest booings that I've seen on TV, I cant recall a bigger one) and the sporatic Balco chants were fun. I can't help but thinking that the booing got to A-Rod, especially with his all to well thought out base stealing attempt. Maybe he was trying to shut the crowd up by swiping 3rd, since they'd been on him all game and a SB can have an effect like that. Just a thought though. Either way, it backfired.
  10. Youkilis for Beltran would be alright for me. I HIGHLY doubt that that would happen, and I'm sure a lot of people would be upset. I want to see Youkilis play in a redsox uniform, thats for sure, but maybe Beltran could do better. Or maybe he'd be a bust. We dont want to lose another Jeff Bagwell.
  11. Hey there, welcome to the site. As for catching Red Sox games, I'm sure there's some package (whether it be on satellite TV or cable or something) where you can see at least SOME games (more than on ESPN), but it would most likely be extremely expensive. I think one person here, I think its dirtdogman, who doesnt live in Boston gets a package. But it may be a US only thing.
  12. I'm glad you're not the manager then. Lol, jk. But he was left in, and look what happened! I tend to prefer lefty/lefty, righty/rights matchups, especially when Pitchers tend to have a batter's number. Plus Embree has been getting the job done for us all year. And also, I was a little iffy on the decision to go with Foulke when we're up 4. It wasn't a save situation, and I do expect at least one in this series, so why tire him out when Embree could have easily finished the game or someone else could have been brought in?
  13. Glad to see that we all put the sox first and foremost. Anyone else?
  14. Lol, I remember trying to recreate that green to no avail doing some wood project. Maybe it was a birdhouse or something.
  15. Francona's worrying me. I just made a post in today's game thread about that dumbass decision to leave Williamson in against Posada. Nothing bad came of it, but it was still a bonehead idea in my mind.
  16. I completely agree with yeszir on that one. The more games I see, the more Francona is starting to worry me. Why he did not bring in Embree after Williamson had walked 2 (or 3?) men and Posada coming up is beyond me. He ended up walking him and Embree struck out Matsui. I really don't see the logic in avoiding the lefty/lefty matchup and leaving Williamson in there for one more batter. And I just went to look at the splits, to see if that made any difference in Francona's decision. But no, Posada has a .222 obp against Embree and Williamson had never faced him. I'm glad we won, but that made no sense to me. And also they showd game 7 of last year too much.
  17. I dont know you from anywhere, but welcome.
  18. I guess the sox are making up for the game drought by going into extra innings, as they are so fond of doing. I cant take this anymore. Just win 'em in regulation guys.
  19. Ah, but the question is: will it kill the teams winning percentage? If not, i cant complain.
  20. Yeszir's just a wee bit high on the farm system if you ask me. If it means getting Beltran, then yea, I guess I'd give up Hanley (provided we can resign nomar, I hope it happens!). But youki I want. He's a keeper.
  21. As of right now, however, the bruins are getting creamed. 4-1. Oh well, there's still 2 more games to win 1!
  22. nice picture of theo with the fenway painters in the background. I remember from my tour that they're the only company allowed to paint using "fenway green".
  23. Lol, isnt all of NJ a dump? I'm kidding, dont worry. I know a lot of NJers get offended when someone says that. But I agree, this wont happen (and the expos have already said it wont happen). I'm still not sold on the DC idea though. If they call them the senators, then its alright. It would be sweet to see the Senators play.
  24. Does this rank up there with the 10 runs in 4 ip on the scale of Pedro badness? I'm sure he'll bounce back, no doubt about it actually, but it is kind of unsettling, especially since he's scheduled to go against the mfy in the bronx (I think he still is, isnt he?).
