I think that if we go into the season next year with only Jazz as our added back to what we have right now, we will finish 4th in the ALE.

So, you dont count Mead, AR and a near full returning rotation & Anthony as additions?

I dont look for offense at Catcher, I dont like Anthonys approach or launch angle, and Mead is a complete unknown but prob the best of the three.  Im sick of the noodlebats.  We could have played the yankees a best of 11, we werent going to score.  And thats this playoffs, the playoffs before, and the whole season in between. We couldnt hit last playoffs, couldnt hit the playoffs before, and couldnt hit all last year.

Im sick of the noodlebats.

Um, I meant 4th in the ALE

I think you need to find another team to pretend root for.

I've never seen a fan honestly wish for a last place finish.

You said you thought getting DLC would bring us close to where we need to be, so you think one player can bring us from 4th place to being in competition for 1st?

You'd want to overhaul the whole Dodger team, too, if you were their fan.

Yes, he was a top prospect and hes 6'5 with arms the size of legs and legs the size of a house.

And a .680 OPS in his first 1000 career PA.

You’re more patient with other prospects than wuth Boston’s…

Now youre just being a dingus.  Trying to cast me as some kind of ingrate.  No, I wouldnt want to overhaul a team that has won 2 of the last 3 years.

I do want to overhaul a team that has finished an average of fourth the last 7 years and has 1 playoff series win, yes.

Fred did so all of April, May and June last year under the misapprehension that draft position in baseball was as important as it is in other sports…

Last 5 years:

3rd place, couldnt hit in playoffs - were hard to watch

3rd place, couldnt hit in playoffs - were hard to watch

3rd place, no playoffs

5th place, no playoffs

5th place, no playoffs

Me: I want better than this

You: You wouldnt even be happy if you were a Dodgers fan!

If we dont try to get elite hitters, I want them to lose becuase they deserve to lose.  When I lose to better teams , Im not mad about it.  The better team won. Thats competition.  I generally want the team that does the right things to win.

May the best team win....Ever hear that?  We are not they best team.

I can promise you there will be no overhaul. Unless you think of Breslow’s mid-season acquisitions as the start of one.

Breslow probably does trade away someone we all think he plans to keep, like Abreu or Contreras. But with so little on the FA market  and not sure how much trade bait in the minors, I don’t think you’re going to get one…

I dont like the AL, i feel like teams are hardly trying.  If we were in teh NL, our record would not have made the playoffs.  I dont want to squeak into the playoffs, because they wont upgrade their mediocre hitters, just because the rest of the AL is worse. I dont like the message or the tone of that. I dont like rewarding complacency.

Wishing your team finishes last is worse than "dingus."

Newsflash, Brez did overhaul the 2023 team as much as any GM in Red Sox history. You let the frustration with Bloom put unrealistic demands on a miracle turnaround in 3 years cloud you reasoning.

We've come a long way since 2023, and you want to start from scratch. I'm the dingus?

I wanna be #1, too. Nobody is happy with the last 6-7 seasons. I think we've made steps towards getting there. With a little luck we coulda been much better this year.

I think we are one elite bat away plus just a normal level of injuries away from being as good or better than the aging Yanks and up and down Rays, Jays and always down O's.

Policing who is or who is not a fan is not a good look.

I just dont want complacency to get rewarded.

And no, it has nothing to do with BLoom.

I was mad that we didnt get 2 out of Bregman, Alonso, Schwarber.  And I think that was a multi-year set back.

I think Brez screwed the pooch.

Milwaukee has made the postseason 8 times in the last 9 years and is going to a WS for the first time after losing in the LCS twice in that stretch.

In that time, have they had a lot of elite hitters?

Hitting is only one aspect of baseball.

Who doesn't?

The difference is, you think you are alone in this thought.

Not a single Sox fan looks at our 5 year record and smiles.

Let me let you in on a secret: we have a better chance at a ring by adding 1-2 elite players, than trying to add 26 new ones. We could sign the top 10 FAs and trade our 26 for 16 more and we'd not be any better than adding DLC/Abrams and Suzuki/Sato.

Bloom did what the Sox wanted - he rebuilt the farm.

I don’t think there was any chance the Sox signed two of Alonso, Schwarber, and Bregman.

It's wonderful how the Sox have followed everything you've wanted them to do and are now poised to win 3 straight rings.

The difference is, you speak in vagaries and love to show all the mistakes the Sox make, but rarely give specific suggestions on how to improve the team.

I think you wanted Schwarber and Alonso, then come back after a long break to boast how right you were. I wasn't aware we signed either of them.

How am I wrong for wanting Alonso, and we failed to sign him, but you are right for wanting Alonso, because he had more HRs and RBIs than Willson?

The shifting criteria is tiresome to observe.

We’ve gone through this many times. I don’t have the need, or desire to suggest what the Red Sox should do, so I do it often at all. I said before this past offseason the Red Sox should sign Flintstone, and Alonso. Flintstone was probably unrealistic, but Alonso should have been I suggested the Red Sox sign Jansen a year before they actually did. I said after the first year he pitched for the Red Sox that Whitlock should stay in the BP. I said not the minute, but the second they signed Bloom it would be a bad move for them. Where did I say you were wrong for wanting Alonso? Probably took something, and ran with it like you were always wrong, and your suggestions never happen.

Your Mr Complacency is a strawman.

Sure, some want less bold moves than you and I, but there may only be 1-2 posters, if any that want us to run back the same team. Almost every poster is suggesting trades and signings.

Brez improved the team significantly, and yes he should have added 2 bats not one last winter. I'm fine if you don't view Mead + AR as a similar improvement as Alonso, but they were moves that improved the "April team."

I do not think I am alone in being frustrated, why would you just assume that?

What I think is that there needs to be accountability.  And I dont think we can blame Bloom.  I think Brez screwed us over last offseason.  I think if we signed Bregman and Alonso, wed still be playing.

You got MEad , who was healthy at the time, for a hurt #4 starter.  And to me, a catcher is not the place to look for offense.

I do think we are better with Mead and Alonso.

Its Durbin I want to move on from. Get a big bat for 3b, and another big bat.  Or one HUGE bat.

Posted

Give Durbin Sogards role or trade him for value.  If you cant trade him for value, then give him Sogards role. Or open the season with him at 3b.  I dont care that much.

I just think that the results theyve gotten the last 2 years is for a reason.  Not enough proven offense.

Everytime I suggest a move and the Sox don't make it, you say I was wrong. Are you seriously denying this?

Yes, we've gone through this several times. I explain how suggestions are not predictions, but you say nothing I ever want happens and I'm wrong. Denying you do this nonstop is something that certainly happens.

One last funny: You say I'm always wrong, but agreed with me on wanting Alonso, and say you didn't call that wrong. I see your math skills rival your reading comp  skills.

Okay, one more: I didn't want Bregman at that cost, and we didn't pay it. I guess I was wrong here, too, right?

Posted

My main issue is that I really really think everything aligned for us to get Bregman and Alonso last offseason, and we had a bad offense year to year, and I dont think you can stick up for Breslow.

I cnat believe we extended him.  Maybe becuse of the turnaround, and he fixed the pitching staff, he could have not gotten fired.  But extended? And Joe B calling him exec of the year? And your posts are dripping with Brez appreciation.

Hes had four full years, we've finished an average of fourth out of fifth, and we have no playoff series wins...I say im frusrated....you say we all are, then you defend the guy and his decisions.

Will you give me this? If we go into next season with mostly the same offense, and we finish bottom half in offense and either dont make the playoffs or lose in the first round ... can we fire Breslow then?

I loved Devers, I loved Cora, I loved Tek, and I loved Bregman.  I dont love telling Story he's not allowed to ask for an explanation. I dont love insulting Bregman to his face. I dont love firing Cora to tighten your grip on the job. I dont love firing the scout who called Breslow a stiff.  I dont love this version of the team. I dont love pitching and defense first teams.

Teams are trying in the AL.  The White Sox just made one of the biggest turnarounds in MLB history.  You don’t do that without trying.  The problem with the AL tjis year is a lot of the big spender teams got burned by their payroll, and the AL does have some clearly talented small market front offices that win without spending, and to many fans, spending is trying…
