I believe Story will see end of August before he is ready to undertake baseball rehab in Worcester. 

Then Sox will likely want him to use the max 20 days rehab, so it is very late . Regular season ends Sept 27.

The real discussion will be regarding the playoff roster

That would be the best result but it’s also not the worst one. Sandoval was visibly upset with himself and was probably thinking the same thing as you. That’s just how it goes sometimes

The Sox numerous HBPs may well nit be intentional,  but still cost us Mead and Contrares for a few games.
