i was looiking forward to seeing the games in this series and thank god it's tonight's pitching matchup i will miss due to apple tv. don't like our odds tonight with the pitching match-up but given our run of late you never know.  not much faith Sandal though and Yeseavage can be very tough

To me, this game is notable after the predictably dead effort behind Rivera once the streak of '46 was matched. The Sox hitters looked like the April-May version and opener pitching was no better.

Sox are pitching a guy in Sandoval that they wasted literally millions on for a 1.5 years and now are in need of a legit 5th starter , so can he show up ?  Can the hitters resume their Fenway hitting that made the 15 wins doable in front of great starting pitching and stellar relief ?

The 15 game run put them in the playoff picture but now they need to show it wasn't just a nice run returning to mediocrity.

Looking for some energy at home tonight and a better lineup than Game@ vs Orioles.   Do not re-muddy the TDL waters, boys.

I've been one to talk up Sandoval since the signing. I remember him being a pretty damn good pitcher for a year and a half or a couple years. That was a pretty long time ago, but I also said the same about Moran, and he's looking pretty good.

Sandoval has yet to earn his previous respect, and a nice game tonight would put him on that path. If Early, Crochet and others never come back, we will need him to do well. (We may need that even if they do come back.)

Tonight's line-up has just one batter under .697, and that's Duran up 7th.

I know I've been roasting Duran a lot, this year especially, but so many like him as the leadoff guy, why not bat him 9th?

1) He's the worst batter out of the 9- just about ev ery line-up.

2) He has speed, so if he gets on base in the 9 slot, he has guys coming up that can bat him in.

3) The 7 and 8 slot get 20-40 more PAs a year than the 9 slot.

Duran has made much better contact lately. He’s not as bad as he has looked. I think he has the physical tools to hit the baseball but unfortunately he’s a little messed up in the head. Confidence is everything.

Meanwhile this team should still be sellers. Popping in for a one and done simply isn’t good enough. Sell sell sell!

Duran has made some hard and long outs recently.

I'm not writing him off. I think he should be platooned and demoted to the 9 hole, until he strings together a longer stretch of hard-hitting.

Plus, we now have other who are hitting well. We didn't have other options, before.

We can beat any AL team or at least be very close to 50-50 on a series outlook.

Remember, the playoffs are often about your 3 best SP'ers and 2 best RP'ers, and we excel in both of those areas.

Our offense has been playing like a top 8-14 team in almost every category for over a month.

Top 8-14 isn’t going to last. We don’t have the talent. And it seems like a lot of teams are looking for a RHH with power. The cost will be prohibitive. Breslow should have done his job over the winter. He didn’t. And as you pointed out our young LH pitchers are approaching their innings restrictions.

You have no way of knowing if it will last or not, AND if we buy, buy, buy offense, it is likely we stay at 8-14 or get even better.

We are 12th in runs scored since May 22nd.

Why May 22nd? Because that splits the current season in two. This is not a #12 ranking for just the win streak: it's half the season to date.

Okay, we're still 24th in HRs in that time frame BUT 13th in SLG% (still top tier.)

We are 15th in OPS. I know you think hitting is 75+% of the equation, but a #15 hitting team and top 5 on D and pitching has a chance, and that's before any "buy, buy buys."

I always thought speed vs a slow catcher was a key to the 9th slot. Why put a turtle in front of your best hitters ?

Duran's stats make him a fit for #9

The very idea of Yesavage is a good enough reason not to trade Anthony Eyanson in the next week or so.

After a late call-up last year, Trey made five postseason starts and won games in each round of the ALDS, ALCS and World Series.... as a rookie.

In the regular season, Yesavage made 25 total starts at five levels, including 3 in the majors, and had a cumulative 3.58 ERA. After the postseason, his 2025 totals added up to 125 innings pitched in 30 starts. But was it worth it? The Blue Jays, after all, were just an IKF slide from winning it all.

This year so far, Eyanson has started 13 games at two levels, thrown 60.2 innings and has a 1.19 ERA. If the Red Sox let him take the Yesavage route, Anthony's arm should have at least another 60 frames left in it. If he's limited to 5 per game, that could be 12 starts down the stretch...

Why can't he be The Guy?

Little league baseball by Contreras. What is he thinking?

He doesn't think. he just reacts to whatever red flag gets waved in front of him.

He just about broke a finger diving into 1st and sliding into 2nd.
