Jones at leadoff vs the lefty.

Monasterio at SS and Wong catching.

Who can doubt anything Tracy does?

TBH, i'd normally bitch about that but hard to say anything when they're winning.

Regardless of today's outcome, a win naturally,  everyone who is a regular on this site and suffered through the misery of April-May-June should take 5 minutes to just enjoy the results of the last few weeks.

No complaints on Breslow, the lineup, Tracy, the mound staff, etc.  Truly a remarkable turnaround to celebrate.

Now on to a new challenge .  Can the team sustain this momentum , can Breslow add a couple of the right players to make a run at the AL, can Abreu hit 2 more bombs today ?

It is finally good again to be a Red Sox fan !

yes. after years of misery...this is actually fun.

Sox BP has also been a key part of the Streak. never blowing the win.

And it is several guys not just Whit and Chapman

Maybe the Rays are just a real crappy hitting team. maybe not ?

They've been streaky all season. Similar to Abreu.

Years of misery. Weren't we just in the PO's last year?

When you get eliminated by NYY. it feels like misery

If Breslow had acquired Bregman, would he have gone after Contrares? I'm guessing no.

My guess is no.  But you can't tell which side of the pitching/hitting divide Breslow was on.  We had guys in here favoring two SPs, and guys in here favoring 2 hitters.  It could easily have come down to price.

Or it could've come down to timing.  Maybe StL told Breslow he could have Contreras, but they needed a quick decision, and he couldn't hold off waiting for Bregman to make up his mind.

Or (a dozen hypotheticals left) Mil gave him the Durbin offer, at which point he preferred Durbin over the much more expensive Bregman, so he lowballed Bregman, not caring whether or not he accepted.

Well, it definitely worked out for the best.

It is easy to see why Sonny G was left off the All Star roster.

Total bizarre selection process.

We have Sonny on the RS, and I have Wheeler on two roto teams, so I am grateful that both were left off the AS team.

Watson for the 9th, while Bello is ignored.

Not sure where Brez is going with him. Trade. WooSox. Saving for the next injury?

Saving for a bulk RP appearance I would guess.  But as well as our rotation has been, I haven't seen a lot of opportunites.

Hats off to Ceddanne. He started off slowly on defense, but is back to GG level.

Since May 5th, his OPS has remained remarkably:

.726 to .804

Most days between .760 and .790.

Watson is a buzz killer, sloppy throwing trash master.

This should have been Bello

I'm not bagging on Bello, but with Bello's incredible inconsistency, he is the last guy I'd use in this situation.  And Watson has a 3.00/3.95 ERA/FIP in his last 27 IPs.  Nothing special, but he's been pitching okay.

That was weird.  He's one of the best CFs I've ever seen, and that includes Blair and Maddox.  But he misjudged a few FBs in the first five games or so.  Then went back to being a platinum contender.

The Blair comparison is spot on.

How the hell are we gonna handle a loss? Talk about a roller coaster.

Fred (Mr. I just happened to turn on the game) will saturate this website so bad they will have to re-boot the system.
