I don't think the question was about getting into MLB games, but MiLB games.

In terms of getting to BOS in the year they were drafted:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/hansecr01.shtml

In Hindsight that seems obvious and makes more sense to me, I obviously wrongly interpreted that question.

It seems like they often don't get pitchers into games, that doesn't mean they don't start working with them and getting them on programs.  Since they went position player this year I think they will see some time at some point.

The vast majority of position players play in some games the year they're drafted.

The only one that didn't that comes to mind is Braden Montgomery, but wasn't he rehabbing an injury???

I would like to change my answer to 90%

Fabian Bonilla was the only HS hitter drafted last season and he didn't appear in any games. He had surgery this offseason. Not sure if that played into it at all.

Cason was drafted in '24 and didn't play at all. Same with Yan Cruz.

If you are a legit college hitter, there's a high likelihood you are going to get into a game. If you need to be assigned to FCL next season, you are out of luck.

I think the odds are 0.

When have the Sox ever drafted a guy who made it to the majors that year? and if they ever have it's probably not a position player.

They might not even play this year in the minors.

I meant minor league games.

I got that afterwards, that makes a lot more sense.  In seems the Sox have a tendency of getting position players into games the same year they're drafted but usually not the pitchers.

Here are when other recent position players drafted in the first two rounds made their debut on the Sox.

Henry Godbout - August 8th 2025

Kyle Teel      - August 3rd 2023

Nazan Zanatello - August 3rd 2023

Mikey Romero - August 9th 2022

Cutter Coffey - August 10th 2022

Roman Anthony - August 9th 2022

Marcelo Mayer - August 5th 2021

The only guy missing from this list is Braden Montgomery who didn't debut until the next year.  I left him off the list because he was injured.  So, if recent history is any precedent we should see these guys start to debut over the next week or two.

On Montgomery not playing after being drafted:

Fractured his ankle on a slide into home plate in June during the NCAA Super Regionals, ending his junior season.

How about some of the OPS numbers from our farm catchers?

1.105 Primera FCL/SAL

.983 Gasper AAA

.979 Ro, Hernandez A+

.921 Brannon AA (actually 1B/DH now)

.897 Knizner AAA

.842 Mussett A-

.826 Jo Garcia

.808 Rosario

.793 Heyman

.787 Hudson White

,711 Hickey (actually 1B/DH now)

.674 Baez

.671 Delay

,651 Ge Rodriguez

Ronny Hernandez is more of a 1B/DH type too. Only a 1/3 of his starts are a C and his scouting reports behind the dish are bad.

While I agree with your hunch that its unlikely, I wouldnt say 0, and would add that historical comparisons are a bit murky here because college baseball is better than its ever been with NIL and it use to be that the best 19-20 yr olds were already in some teams minor league org but more dudes are choosing college these days.....

He's caught a total of 30 innings the past two seasons combined.

Several on that list are mainly 1B/DH, but there are some players having nice seasons at the plate.

Brannon is 3-4 and Winnay 2 for 3 w 2 BB tonight (by 8th inning.)

Hudson White homered, along with Jackson, as GRE is winning in the 8th.

Guzman homered (2-3) and Delzine went 4.1 with 2 ZHits, 1 ER, 2BB and 5 Ks.

I think our top two draft picks are reporting to Greenville soon!
godbout on rehab went 1-3 at Salem last night,

Salem was a hard team to watch at the beginning of the year, but now with angular and primera and delzeina, they are kind of fun again.

Hey Larry, LOOK!

Schaffner: 2-3 w 2BB and a DBL.

Hull: 2-5 w 3rbi and a BB

(Azocar homered in the game & went 306. Zanetello went 4-6 as GRE had 19 hits and 7 BBs in the win.) Brown went 6.1, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 9K

______________________

Primera is a beast. 3-4 w BB in SAL's loss

_____________________

POR won as Jo Garcia went 2-3 (.825) and Sansone pitched great in 4 relief IP.

________________________

Gamboa pitched well for WOO (4.2 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 4K) Eaton homered in the win.

So, from what I can see, our draftees have been placed as such:

GRE (A+) Schaffner SS, Owen Hull LF

SAL (A-) none

FCL: Kide Adetuyi, Lucas Davenport, Kaleb LaFavor, Lanman, Kranzler, Volmerding, Luis Calderon, Lei, Evangelista, VanDeHatert P and Shelar OF, plus  Mataczynski, Webster, Wills Maginnis & Colton Coates Infield

Non-draftees Castro C and Revay P were placed in FCL- a roster with 23 pitchers, 4 catchers, 11 infielders and 6 OF'ers.

Brez has traded as many top 20 prospects as DD, and in shorter time.

How about the draft slots of some?

#1 Mayer (2021's 4th pick- Bloom)

#1 Teel (2023's 14th pick-Bloom)

#1 Braden Montgomery (2024's 12th pick)

#1 Kyson Witherspoon (2025's 15th pick)

#3 Anthony Eyanson (87th pick and $1.75M bonus)

#4 Elmer Rodriguez (105th pick)

#4 Chase Meidroth (129th)

#5 Connelly Early (151th)

I'll take a guess at the next soxprospects, com rankings:

(2 Eyanson trade, 3 Witherspoon traded, Bennett graduated, 6 Azocar traded & 19 Uberstine traded)

1. Arias

2. Primera

3. Gonzales

4. Valera

5. Godbout

6. Delzine

7. Soto

8. Holobetz

9. Cespedes

10. Phillips

11. Schaffner

12. Rivas

13. Shelar

14. Wehunt

15. Hull

16. Winnay

17. Heyman

18. Rivera

19. Mataczynski

20. LaFavor

Paez, Romero, Davenport & Lanman

(I might put Jo Garcia #20, but I'm biased.)

Arias is making a case for a promotion. 3 for 5 tonight (.864 at AAA.)

POR lost 6-4

GRE won big. Hull 2-5 w homer. Gonzales 2-4 w 4 rbi.

Kleyver Salazar won Player of the Month for July (with Eyanson) and hit a 2 run jack, last night.

He will certainly jump into the rankings, soon.

Just heard an interview with the Sea Dogs GM who said he’s a Yankee fan. Wow!🙈

He didn't say "used to be...?"
