In a better world Whitlock would pitch the 6th and 7th and Chappy the 8th and 9th, but this is the world we're stuck with.

Cora's maybe thinking of the first Tolle start, where he just left him in a couple of batters too long. Wanting to make sure that the kid doesn't give up a handful of runs and cough the game up after a really good 5 innings, for psychological reasons if nothing else. Not a great call, though.

Raffy is a tremendous defensive player but he is literally an automatic out. So has Duran and Bregman folded as well.  Where’s the fight with these guys.??

Probably should have left Early in there for one more inning. He was only at 80 pitches.

A lot of meaningless caterwauling up above.  Early at 80 pitches was about right.  You don't bring in your 8th inning guy in the 6th.   Weissert has the 2d most holds on the team after Whitlock. 

The score is just 2-1.  If the Sox lose by that, it's yet again on the Sox miserable hitting.

Bregman has a .732 OPS since returning to the lineup.  And some people still think he’s opting out after this year.

If I was his agent, I’d flat out tell him that if he opted out, I would drop him as a client…

Luckily, they're facing the A's, whose pitching staff has allowed over 5 runs per game this year.

Mayer would be a good choice for 3B.  We should be able to find a decent 2B who hit .260-2.70 on the FA market. Remember that it was supposed to Grissom/
