At least he made contact. He still sucks.
OPS now under .690.
JBJ reincarnated

You stopped bashing Narvaez.

I wonder why?

Well we have improved from last year by being at least 2 games over 500.  If we are to get in the playoffs it will be our pitching that gets us there.  Let's see how the youngsters do in the next 2 games.

The A's like the Yankems can make Fenway small.

Because bashing Rafaela takes up all my bashing points.
Resdy to see him BENCHED now that his OPS is at or below .690?

Not even close. Maybe when Abreu returns, give him a bretaher.

You choose to do that.

You could spend some time talking about Narvaez, too.

If you choose to.

On Rafaela, nobody will claim his plate discipline has been fixed. He still has a long way to go, and we know they've been trying to help him improve in this area for many years.

2023-2024 to 2025

K%: 27.1%>20.0%

BB%: 2.9%> 4.7%

HR%: 2.6%> 3.0%

OPS: .664>.695

We need to see continued improvement in these areas. It would help if he'd not decline sharply near the ends of most seasons.

I think we all like consistency over streakiness, but I'll take a rerun of JBJ's first 8 seasons in MLB.

Near GG defense.

.732 OPS, but .769 after his first 2 seasons (101 OPS+)

I'm not sure why JBJ has gotten such a bad name. He started slowly and dropped off badly after age 31, but so what?

I only bash those who deserve it. Narvaez is performing reasonably well. Rafaela stinks-and I don’t care how great a defensive player he is. JBJ was a great defender too. Neither could hit the baseball after a while.

JBJ was fine for a long time. But like Rafaela he ended up stinking.

After 8 years. Like JBJ, that's what Ceddanne is signed for.

I guess every site needs a Mr. Negative.

And only the thousandth time he's done it.

When you go three years in a row getting it mostly right, it's hard to break out of the paradigm.

I've heard that the choke job is on!

Sox were 4 up on the Rays in '11 at this point. They had to go 3-9 to miss the playoffs.

If the Sox go 6-6, the Rangers would have to go 9-3 to catch them.

HOU's next 6 games is TEX/SEA, which could help the Sox if those teams just beat up on each other.

The 690 OPS isn't great, but it's playable if he's in CF because of the defense. People on here definitely got too excited talking about Mookie Betts when Rafaela's OPS was in the 790's for a week or two. That wasn't meant to last. We saw molten hot stretches from JBJ too.
