Meh.  I think Devers was gone the day Bregman was announced  as the Sox third baseman.  I can't claim to have seen it then and in fact liked Devers as the Devers as the DH.  FWIW, the Giants have had a losing record with Devers and the Sox have had a winning record without him.

The Sox spent a lot on Bregman, Crochet, Chapman, and Buehler.

Alcala escapes from the 6th while giving up just 1 run.

They did the right thing getting rid of the malcontent. But the Giants took on all of his salary. Thats money Henry should be spending this offseason.

If you guys see the commercials on NESN, I was impressed by the one showing Wally and Casas laying on the grass looking at clouds. for Mass Mutual.    Casas says, i need to look out for my future .

That you do Triston before you become the next in a regrettable line of Red Sox flameouts who pass out of mind and sight in their 3rd/4th years.

How long is his leash?

Anyone's guess.  After Devers left, the notion was that Yoshida and Ref would be a great combo at DH.  But Yoshida's OPS vs righty pitchers is .450.

His lifetime OPS with the Sox is .800.  He is just unbelievably injury prone.  He missed a bunch last season because of swinging the bat and this year it was running to 1b.

2 on, 1 out for the Twins in the 7th.   I suspect the Sox bullpen is tired.

Players like Casas and Yoshida, maybe Wong , Hamilton , K Campbell will show up at Ft. Myers next ST  but unless they can show something special, they may not make the 26 since even better youngsters are behind them.  Bres would do well to try and clear out a few of them  over the winter.

Just not enough yet ready for mound duty.

I'm guessing Wally has the better future.

I would use the word 'normal.'

The Twins are 29-22 on their home field.  OTOH, they have stunk since the ASG.

I think Casas and Campbell will be fine. The others can sell used cars

Pitchers like Fitts and Buehler are BP killers. See both in the next episode of Criminal Minds.

Fitts is virtually a BP game since he has not cleared 4 innings in several starts. He has the tools to be a decent pitcher but not enough command /control.  You need some precision to routinely screw up MLB hitters

Yoshida is an expensive mistake.  The others are bargain basement.

Why am I absolutely, positively the only one who predicted the Sox defense would improve and now repeatedly point out actual examples?

Idee fixees capture this board and just won't go away.

Nope.  They can work at Sears.

Yoshida was effective in the past when he would slash a ball to the left side/field.

This long outreach so he can rollover to 2B is deadly.   No walks at all for him after 40+ AB's ?   Masa fail.

The Sox are ranked 4th in MLB in quality starts (6 IP, no more than 3 ER) with 47, 41 of which were thrown by the current rotation:  Crochet 14, Bello 10, Giolito 9. Buehler 6, and Fitts 2.

The 2021 Sox had 39 quality starts for the entire season.

Not a bad description.  Tonight I thought he was telegraphing his pitches.

They extended Campbell yet they called up Hamilton. I simply don’t get it.
