Boston returns INF David Hamilton to Milwaukee for 1b Rhys Hoskins and the remainder of his contract.  Hamilton pushes Platinum Glove winner Brice Turang back to SS and Joey Ortiz back to third since he’s clearly a bad shortstop.

Boston sends Jarren Duran to Philly for RHSP Mick Abel.  Philly sends SS prospect Aiden Miller to Pittsburgh, who sends SP Mitch Keller and his remaining $60+ million to Boston to complete the deal.  BTV calls this deal a fair trade.

Abel joins Fitts and Harrison in Worcester where they all vie to replace Walker Buehler in the rotation.

Nate Eaton gets DFAd to clear a roster spot for Abel.

  • C: Carlos Narvaez ($0.80M)
  • 1B: Rhys Hoskins ($18.00M)

  • RF: Wilyer Abreu ($0.80M)
  • DH: Masataka Yoshida ($18.60M)
  • 4th OF: Rob Refsnyder ($2.25M)

I have a pretty hard time seeing Milwaukee giving up Hoskins for Hamilton. The 2nd trade feels possible but unlikely, too. Not least because DD was only saying on Starkville last week that he isn't planning on moving any of his pitchers this trade deadline as they're going to need them all.

I suppose Philly could substitute 19yo CF Griffin Burkholder.  Milwaukee deal could include a minor enticement like Jedixson Paez or Yordanny Monegro…

I would definitely do the one you mentioned above, but I think it unlikely Phillies would.

You think DD is going to hold a prospect? Especially one that plays a position a DD contract is blocking for the next 8 years?

Would the 48-38 Milwaukee Brewers, currently holding the second NL Wild Card slot, trade their starting first baseman to a sub-.500 club for a 27-year-old utility player who this year has posted a 30 wRC+ and a negative 0.4 fWAR?

They have already acquired his replacement

In a swap of 27-year-olds, the Brewers might not trade Andrew Vaughn, and his 2025 wRC+ of 43, for David Hamilton, and his 2025 wRC+ of 30.

I’d think they’d prefer to move the substantially more expensive and less controllable Hoskins.  4’5” Andrew Vaughn also has the superior StatCast page.

i have a theory the primary reason theyre still starting Hoskins is they would prefer to move him…

I like the suggested moves, but I think DD demands Abreu over Duran. I also think MIL would get more than DHam, even for a rental 1Bman. They might prefer Grissom over DHam, but they also want more than Monegro or Paez- maybe Sandlin or Cespedes or Bleis. Maybe they take DHam & Jordan or DHam & Guerrero or Kelly, but those are two 40 man roster guys.

They might.  Depends if Milwaukee is prioritizing the farm over the finances.  Also if there is any interest in Hoskins.

Also DD has a clear need in CF,  and he did draft Duran and moved him to the OF.  His current solution is a platoon of two fringey CFs in Marsh and Rojas.  RF is manned by Defensive Disaster Area Nick Castellanos, but he is unmovable and his best position is DH, which is occupied in Philly.

They do have defensive whiz Max Kepler, but they primarily play him in LF for reasons no one understands…

Honestly, I think a Toro/Gonzalez platoon gives you just as good if not better production at 1B than Hoskins.

Maybe not, but BTV accepts the trade.  A slight overpay for us. But I think Pitt and Boston would do it, not sure about Philly.  Honestly IDK maybe they would.  Seems like they'd be giving up on Abel and trading a top guy out just to get Duran.

Well, we just traded away ou FT DH, so maybe taking on Castellanos' contract could be the factor that gets DD to a yes- not that I want Nick, but he does have a .768 OPS and might love Fenway hitting (although just .763 career.) He is owed $20M in 2026, then is a FA.

Duran, Mullins &Sandlin for Abel & Castellanos.

I'd sub Abreu for Duran, if they insisted.

I believe desperate Dave said he is looking for a lefty reliever, outfielder and third baseman!!

I think we match up perfectly with him on a trade.

We'd have to include a chunk of change. Ozuna is a FA, after 2025: Story is not.

I like the Story for Murphy idea, since Murphy has a big contract and several years left, and we find our back-up catcher and DH player in one move. Murphy can hit, too. Not like Ozuna, but he's only 30, bats RH'd and has averaged 30 HRs per 162, since 2023 (.769 OPS.)

Bregman, Duran, Chapman & Tolle for Abel & Painter?

Sorry I meant your original trade, for the aforementioned reason DD doesn't want to trade pitching.

Can't comment on your adjustment as I'm not familiar with the CF prospect so can't judge it.

Desperate Dave says he is going to need both Abel and painter this year.
So I try sending Bregman, Duran, Chapman, Fitts and giolita for Abel, brohm and painter!!!!!
with those pieces desperate Dave should be in the World Series!!!!

I can clearly see why this couldn't have just been posted under the original trade deadline blueprint thread.

Smh.......

Mostly because you have no clue how that tool works.

(Hint : it creates a new thread for you when you use it.)

Story has 3 years left ($96mii).  Ozuna has 3 months left on his deal..

WOW! I thought I was moving into sell mode.

DD said he did not not want to trade pitching, not that he needed Abel and Painter "this year." Besides, Painter probably isn't going to pitch in the bigs, this year, for PHI. Abel has 6 GS and a 5.04 ERA.

Maybe I misunderstood what desperate Dave was saying in that podcast!! I am sorry for the confusion!  My bad!!!

My Crazy 2026 Lineup

CC Narvaez

1B Anthony

2B Story

SS Mayer

3B Bregman

LF Garcia (The Password)

CF Rafaela

RF Abreu

DH Ozuna

I think this group would have no problem with run production

Can we do a trade and sign Cease? (a must before trade). Give them Duran and get Cease and prospects.

If DD wants all those high performing vet rentals, he'll have to part with at least one from Abel or Painter, IMO... maybe both.

San Diego wants Duran, but not to the point of giving up Cease…
