Giolito needs to average slightly over 5 1/3 innings over projected, remaining 22 starts to trigger the magic 140 innings to get the $14M extension. I'm not sure if he can do much better than that elsewhere.

My confidence in this guy is less than zero.

This will be an interesting day. Anything less than 3-1 versus the Orioles would be very disappointing.

The Orioles has given up second most runs in AL. If we can't hit their pitching, Bres needs to bring up Mayer and Anthony. I don't give a damn how he does it.

I knew their pitching was gonna be a question mark but this team has regressed pretty much all around.

The new ownership was to bring money to the table. I read somewhere the Orioles and the Sox were two of the most profitable teams last year. The new ownership put the money in their pocket.

The $37M spent for him to pitch for 1 season certainly could have been spent much more wisely.

Hindsight is always great at building teams.

This 4 game series  against the low flying Orioles should be telling.  Sox are at home , have had a day off and can even bring in a 26th player.

As Nick says, anything less than 3Ws is a failure and flashing red light for the Sox.    3 or 4 wins gets them back over the .500 magnet . I would like to say it would develop some momentum but this team has resisted momentum , other than Jad's 5 game streak.

Not so much hindsight in this particular case on my part.

I have always been against signing an injured player to spend a season of recovery on my team's dime.

It's not terrible when it's a small contract on maybe a reliever, but to pay almost $40M for essentially one year on a pitcher has never been a move I would do. Especially for a guy that was not going to be confused with Cy Young anytime soon.

Giolito was healthy when they signed him as far as anyone knew.

I'm not for moving everyone around. I just presented a non Devers to 1B option.

I do worry about defense, and focus on SS, a lot. I'm not sure what Campbell not looking all that good on D at 2B, out of the gate has to do with my ideas and opinions.

We are in a jam with the Casas injury. I prefer the Campbell to 1B option over Devers to 1B, but both idea have flaws.

I always felt like a 27 or 28 man roster might be a nice compromise to give the players, along with a big spike in min wage, in exchange for some sort of soft or hard cap in MLB. Another compromise might be to set a pretty high minimum team spending budget that could allow more lower to mid roster players make more money, instead of the top guys making sick money.

Duran and Devers making Povich's 92 mph look like 97.

Duran doesn't hit LHP very well. Platoon with Rafaela and call up Anthony.

I wonder if I can bet on him striking out.

Can’t say without knowing what it was.  But it’s also not like Casas’ career is over.  Just this season.  Hes still only 25 years old and still has 3 full seasons until free agency…
