But my real point of interest is that the Sox are  NO HIT again through 3  , after chalking up 1 run last night.  The players do not hit well at home, but keep the stats up  with the rare blowout win.

Ranger pitching is good but not lights out vs a team that is underperforming

Mahle came into tonight with an ERA of 1.19; he’s doing something right this year.

I read an article the other day about how the 2018 club showed up at the park expecting to win.  They didn’t know how, but they knew they would.

This club seems to show up expecting to lose.  They don’t know how …

Millar talking about Kyle Schwarber on NESN. I said it at the time and I will say it again, the Red Sox blew it when they let him get away. Talk about the ultimate DH, team guy and great influence on teammates.

Actually, Devers has good hands. His main problems at 3rd were his range going left and his arm.

It’s not the hands on that type of play; it’s the ability to ignore the runner bearing in on you and not short arm the ball, and that only comes with time.

I agree that Devers could be a pretty good 1B if he wants to put in the work.  But does he?

Devers is not a team player, IMHO.

I’m coming around to that opinion.  I don’t see him as the kind of guy that would do what Story did last season, doing everything he could to get back on the field in September to help the team in the playoff chase.

Sox get 2 on Bregman andf Abreu  solo HR's.

Houck, not having a real good night , immediately sets up the give back, can't finish the 5th.   Houck could be a professional mourner with his long blank face look.

But like most of the starters recently, he’s given them a chance of the offense can do anything.

You know what I really don’t see with Devers?  The joy he had when he first came up.  He was always smiling.  We haven’t seen that the past few years.

He must be missing the X-man.

Your last line seems a good description of the  mental set of this team, especially at Fenway.

Not one come from behind after 6 this year ?     4-9 in one run games ?

Bregman does not seem to have this affliction , but he may not be around for additional years if the Sox/Cora run a negative vibe in the clubhouse.

Of course, nothing's wrong that a 5 or 6 game win streak wouldn't cure.

I think they definitely need a good road trip vs better teams or the Sox could get buried by late May.

Good observation.  Not sure how but getting paid has not stimulated him, his body will betray him in a few years, IMO.

True---not a great start, but the game is very winnable .  Get more men on base  and then get a bleeder through for a run or two.

Abreu hitting a CF wall ball off a LH'er, but cannot score 2 , due to using the challenge  on the 1B play earlier.

Sox would have no luck if not for bad luck, and odd calls

Toro says , "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play 1B" .

Romy delivered an ass shot to Smith who was hogging the lane,  but it is Romy who is out on another appeal review.

run doesn't score.  SMH

Yeah, that’s probably it.

It’s the kind of play that points to why you just don’t throw a guy over there.  An experienced guy probably comes up with that.  As poor a Casas was, he saved several throwing errors this year.

Casas was indeed good at catching throws on the hop.  Plus he had reach.

Ass shots are illegal in every state except Florida .

I see it very differently and wonder why in the wide, wide, world of sports did Bregman think he had to go home when he was on 3b with nobody out?  If it was the third base coach's call, one has to wonder why he sent Bregman home.

I believe that was Campbell and I also believe he was safe.
