The Astros have done a remarkable job, considering they have not had Tucker for much of the year, and have missed 5-6 of their top 7-8 SP'ers for all or most of 2024:

Verlander

McCullers

Vazquez

Garcia

Urquidy

France

Who else could find a rotation, this good, with all those guys out?

Years ago when Verlander was with the Tigers I went to a ball game at Fenway.

Verlander was shagging baseballs in centerfield.

I called his name and waved. He looked up and threw a souvenir ball in our direction.

I like him as a competitor, but I hope the Sox destroy him this afternoon.

You have to like Verlander, and his wife too. But yeah, today I wish him no good luck.

I have nothing against Verlander, I just don't like the Astros.

I don't either, and I live in Sugar Land, now.

I'm a Packer fan, but I like the Texans, a lot, now. They are fun to watch.

I lived in Massachusetts during the Yaz era and fell in love with the team

I have been in Maryland for years and never bonded with the Orioles.

I live outside DC and tried to like the Nationals but that did not work.

With MLB streaming is quite easy to be a fan from a distance.

My daughter lives in Massachusetts and we always try to go to a game at Fenway when we visit.

I was at Orioles Park last weekend and the number of Red Sox fans in the stands was down compared to other years.

IN 2018 when the Orioles were in the toilet sometimes Red Sox fans would outnumber the locals.

Outside the Red Sox I only like the traditional teams such as the Cardinals, Dodgers, Braves, Giants, Phillies, ect. I used to love the As during the Rollie Fingers era.

The only exception is the Yankees, they are highly unlikeable.

How can we get the Astros back in the NL?

Or… bring the Brewers back to the AL! Move the Royals to the AL West and there you go. The balance of the Universe has been restored…

I always wondered about moving them to the AL. Seems like MIL would have made more sense, since they were once in the AL.

Nice story. Good guy. His age and salary this season are astounding.

All the way from ownership down.

You could be right, but my view is that they built a pretty good team. The sign-stealing was terrible, but we also know the Sox did some of that too--led by Pedroia.

Also Verlander has a much younger brother (who was a minor league outfielder with Detroit) whose dog goes absolutely ballistic when he sees Justin pitching on TV…
