Crawford vs Bellozo(RH)

Duran(CF)

O'Neill(LF)

Abreu

Devers

Wong

Masa

Valdez

Smith

Rafaela(SS)

Hopefully, Bellozo will be as effective as our own Bello.

Go SOX!

6 lefty bats.

Red Sox playing beyond the competition and Crawford looking effective against a bad team. This series should be 2-1 or 3-0 sweep.. The guys just need to play within themselves and not let Miami get started

Even w/o Rafaela in CF the SOX, imho, still have the best defensive OF in the AL.

Gotta love Rafaela's range in CF and his routes, but Duran gets higher on those jumps against the wall.

Nights like this, games like this make one think, along with the 1969 Mets, "you gotta believe."

Crawford is throwing good stuff, which, I hasten to add Houck is also fully capable of doing, Winck seems capable of doing, and even Pivetta, on his good nights, is capable of doing. Bello used to throw good stuff, but he's always struggled with command of his pitches. Do not under-estimate our rotation.

Lovely single, hard hit, by Devers to drive in our first 2 runs. Also lovely--the dinger by our 165 lb weakling batting 9th and 2d on the Sox in rbi's.

I just think SPLENDIDSPLINTER brings out the best in our guys. Don't forget--in his last two outings behind the plate, Wong and the Sox pitchers gave up a total of 20 freaking runs.

No wonder Casas wanted to play in Miami.

A potential problem facing the SOX in the future. None of their starters, except for Pivetta, has thrown a lot of innings in the past. Cora will have to deal with this and it won't be easy. That's why I understand Cora removing Crawford with only 72 pitches thrown.

Kelly leaks runs like a sieve.

No lead is ever too much. Other than Martin, Jansen and Bernandino, this bullpen didn't really exist until crammed together over the winter and in ST. Not exactly a developmental progression from the farm system. But hired guns are ok when they pitch well.

Crawford needed a confidence rebuilder , same for the other guys too

One more homer and Duran will have a triple double. Informed of that by the Marlins' feed.

There you go…

Duran continues to show his abilities with a nice HR. A shot to R-CF off a 95 mph FB was not something he had in his bag of tricks last year. Hope he gets an A-S selection as a reserve. Also hope he can take advantage of a few days off , if he doesn't get a trip. The season gets long in August dog days.

His ERA when he entered the game was 1.53..

Zack Kelly actually is a Red Sox organization product and has been effective with a WHIP below 1.0 ( 0.99) , and a sub 2.00 ERA. Got past his elbow issues from 2023 to become a contributor this year

He only gave up 1 earned run in 10 appearances in June. The SOX BP is 2nd in the AL in ERA.

Indeed. I'm humbled.

I know. I looked it up--in complete disbelief.

He’s been terrific since he returned from the IL…

He played in the Sox minors, but he previously played in the minors for Oakland and the Angels. He was a successful dumpster dive…

Very satisfying win. Almsor everyone scored or knocked in a run.

Crawford put up some nice numbers. We need him back on track to keep this going.

That was Jarren Duran’s 100th hit and 10th HR of the season.

He is the first American League player ever to record all of the following before the All-Star break:

- 100 hits

- 10 triples

- 10 HR

- 20 stolen bases

The only NL player to do that is José Reyes (2008).

We need as close to 5 decent starters as we can get. Houck and Crawford are more than decent, but Pivetta, Winckowski, and especially Bello are suspect. The team ERA of 3.62, ranked 7th in MLB, is still better than the 2018 Sox who won 108 regular season games.

Sox pitching never nevertheless--and despite our griping (which I have done my share of)--remains their one real strength.

The defense, ranked dead last in MLB, and the hitting--ranked 12th in runs scored--remain suspect.

If you like ERA, Winckowski's is a glittering 2.80.
