I think he'd be a plus defender at 1B, but we have Casas, so DH is fine with some work at 1B, when Casas needs a rest. We could try to avoid giving Casas days off by DH'ing him 20-25 games, instead of giving him 10 days off.

 

We'd have to trade Yoshida, or play him in LF. (Yikes!)

A new skipper who's all business and not Raffy's mentor could maybe force more consistent focus on D by issuing ultimatums, with position changes an option. Or the new boss could just announce the shift in an offseason, accompanied by the acquisition or anointment of a new third sacker... while Devers is assigned special training and a personal coach for a different role.

 

Meanwhile, all we can hope for now is that AC can convince Raffy to stop hurting his shoulder trying to pull 500-foot HRs and go back to terrorizing left-center, like he did in Florida...

I think Cora is concerned about D, but like I’ve said many times you have to play the cards you are dealt, and those cards at the moment are Devers at 3B, Casas at 1B, and GOshida/Noshida as DH, and I don’t see any of them moving any time soon.
